QPR v Derby match thread 08:56 - Feb 14 with 33530 views | Beckenhamhoop | It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. We beat Eustace only a couple of games ago and I reckon we’ll beat his team again. I’d also like to see Colback and Morgan as the deeper laying two in midfield and Kolli given a chance after an hour or so if he’s recovered from his recent injury/illness (?). I think he’s been hard done by recently considering the amount of goals and assists he’s had. Rangers 2 Rams 0 C’mon you Soooooopah… [Post edited 14 Feb 8:58]

QPR v Derby match thread on 22:18 - Feb 14 by Wilkinswatercarrier | It was a weird game though. Going to get slammed for this, but that was a poor performance. First half, Derby were the better team, and second half the same until the 3rd goal. Forget the last 20 minutes, it was all done and dusted by then. It was a disjointed performance, and that fckin central midfield area is woeful. If that performance had been against a top 6 side, the result would have been reversed. We won, but it was very, meh, performance. [Post edited 14 Feb 22:20]

It's harsh, I think, but as I said elsewhere, it wasn't really a 4-0 game, and Derby were a bit unlucky not to score one or two. The quality of the goals put a big sheen on it for me. I agree that the inadequacies of Field and Varane in midfield were masked by the excellent Chair performance, the quality of Saito and, to a lesser but still decisive extent, Min. Personally, I would ditch both Madsen and Varane at the end of the season, unless something dramatic happens. The latter hasn't done enough for me in his position. Frey has done enough, probably, to stay as a squad player, but he isn't good enough to be our key goalscorer in my eyes. All that may sound churlish after tonight, but a good home win, finally, against a bottom 3 team still doesn't mean we're any better than a decent midtable side, even when we're on our game, with quality in two or three positions, and a lack of it in two or three others. A 'Meh' win is a bit like when Holloway described a scrappy performance which we ultimately won the game. In his own inimitable way he described the game, as if he had gone clubbing and at the end of the night, he got together with a young lady who wasn't the best looking girl in the room, but a girl she was, and she was going home with him... It wasn't a "meh" performance though but Wilkins thought so..

It was a frustrating start to the game, it was like periods of the game v Coventry where we just couldn’t retain possession. Quite a few misplaced passes and a bit of a timid attitude allowed Derby to gain a foothold in the game and gain confidence and momentum and those two qualities win you games in this league. Fortunately some moments of quality finishing made the difference and the game panned out differently. Like you though I do have concerns about our midfield pairing of Varane and Field. Not that they were playing as a ‘pair’ tonight with Field further up the pitch. [Post edited 14 Feb 23:00]

I was at the game and cannot let you get away with that. Whereas it was not perfect - is any game - we were the better side throughout and particularly in the second half when we took Derby apart. There 99.9% of Rs fans would say something very similar. I genuinely do not understand what game you were watching.

As the old saying goes, goals change games! Given that Chair scored on 21 minutes, that means we dominated the match for 69+ minutes.

My view from the game was that we were a bit fortunate to be 2-0 up at half time. Derby were poor and only really had chances through mistakes of our own. Second half we got the goals and from there Derby just gave up. It was a bit odd as it was all so easy. Show how poor a lot of the teams are in this division. Reminded me a bit of the Oxford game.

QPR v Derby match thread on 21:47 - Feb 14 by stainrods_elbow | Disappointing last 15m - Marti takes off Chai for Madsen rather than going for he fifth, and we let them play all the football. Yates unlucky not to pull at least one back, with one chalked off. |
Excellent management to give him some time on the pitch and rest Chair when we've won the match.

F uck me mate. It’s Valentines, go have a shag or a w ank. Do something to cheer yourself up. I don’t think this football malarkey is getting you where you want to be. Big hugs mate. These depressing days won’t last forever.

Varane and Frey both justify their positions - the wide men and Chair benefit from his style of play but he does not score enough to be the main striker . Madsen is the one that so far has shown very little.

QPR v Derby match thread on 22:16 - Feb 14 by Malintabuk | I know it is a matter of opinions and I would never criticise someone having one, but the critism of Varane is surprising He was everywhere tonight and I thought he had a terrific game, just shows you what I know Thought that was easily our best performance for a long time, after a shakey start we played some lovely football, and thinking about it, can't really say anyone was not a 6+ to a 7 tonight. March on paper looks a really tough month, but honestly I'm not fearing any of those games, if a big if, we do well, it could define our season, alot to be excited about really |
Totally agree, I thought he was superb tonight sitting in front of the defence. We even saw that he’s capable of carrying the ball forwards and taking players on with his burst of speed. If he continues developing we’ll have quite the player on our hands.

No I wasn't. I was more impressed with the Blackburn game. I think the standard has been so low for a decade now, that some are happy watching that tonight and say it was magnificent. It was very far from that. March will tell us where we really are.

Just don't watch anymore. It's probably best. If you can't celebrate in victory however the result comes, especially after that sickener early in the week, then there is no hope
