So in summary:

In:
Edwards - really needed at the time and will probably feature a lot more
Min-Hyeok - important cover for Smyth and maybe even more
Vale, Esquerdinha, O'Brien - not expected to feature for 1st team (yet)

Out:
Santos - if all buy-option rumours are true, excellent business.

Contracts extended:
Chair
Kolli
Morgan
Lloyd

A fairly conservative, but probably sensible, window of activity. Which I guess means we're happy to see out the season with whom we have and expect enough bodies to return to fitness to see us through.

Only one I am disappointed about, is EDB. Would have loved to see him go out on loan. So either we think we need him, or other clubs perhaps don't rate him. Hard one for me to judge.

Thanks for the summary. Decent January business. I think a play off push was a bit of a stretch after our start.

Maybe need to include the existing players who signed contracts in the transfer business too.

Overall a pragmatic and sensible window. Tied down talent, brought in prospects, covered emergencies and stuck to the plan.

Need not to lose again to not get into another poor run and then seal survival asap. From there we can really begin to build properly and look at the summer window for squad development.

You can see the developing, in both senses, philosophy.
Edwards 21
Yang 18
Esquerdinha 18
Alex O'Brien 177
Vale 21

OK 2 are loans and not all will work out. However there is far more upside than down, given the ages.
Of course, we need to sprinkle some experience among the youngsters. Field, Chair and JCS have all extended deals. Now we need Dunne to sign a new deal. Then it would appear to be a superb set of transfer dealings. Having been let down so many times before, I'm feeling really optimistic.

I think Alex looks very good for his age.

He was excellent for the DS v Colchester U18s last week. A very good addition to our youngsters.

Can we not knock it?

This may be one for the glossary, but there is still time for EDB I think. Loan window closes a bit later doesn’t it?

I am assuming that Alex is a bit slow because he is now the club's giant tortoise?

Never knowingly right.

Going full blown Sunderland route. Buy young, as they did in their last season in L1, and then push on.

If we are mid table, and no risk of relegation with 3 or 4 games to go, we might see a few of the good DS players play in the 1st team in preparation for next season.

Weirdly, CB position looks quite weak for next season. No Edwards, Cook and Fox probably released, JCS made of glass, and who knows about Dunne now.

Can't help thinking we're up against the P&S budget. This is certainly not a transfer window you'd expect from a team two wins from the playoffs and cash on the hip.

One free transfer in who will play no part in our season.
Two loans in with (as far as we know) no hope of making either permanent.
One loan out.

No midfield cover.
No left-back cover.
Weaker at right-back than we were before.

We're going to need our physios and sports scientists, and all of our favourite deities to be on top form.

Updated the original post with the not insignificant contract extensions of Morgan, Kolli and Chair.

Sutton and Halliday signed for dev squad also, but they won't get a look-in this season.

Absolutely...particularly as he was already above retirement age at the outbreak of hostilities...in the Great War. Very impressive.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Yang was loaned to us for the whole of next season if this loan goes well

Play off push

16th. 16th everyone.

Anything above that would be good.

A top ten finish would be bloody amazing.

Yes I could see this happening, but even half decent displays, and he is pushing for a place on the bench at Spurs, and in particular with how poor, that they have been, so far this season.
