Or defender headbutting?

Strange decision...

If you foul someone with a headbutt that’s a red card and a possible long ban no?

If you go to head the ball away and another player does the same it’s an old fashioned clash of heads, knock for knock

Watched the game (it was shite) and felt it was a joke decision at the time.
Taylor has always been a bizarre little man in my opinion and I wasn’t happy as that decision helps Chelscum in their new challenge of being top four.

Not sure what the problem was here.
If you go in for a tackle, and accidentally kick the opposing player, it is a foul.
The only difference here is that it was their heads.
It’s still a foul

If you mis time a tackle and kick the player after he has cleared the ball, it'd be a foul, right? This was the same but with a head...

...but it seemed strange at the time.

More peeved how long Pedro rolled about for after a bang of heads. Yep it hurts, but slapping the floor like that whilst looking at the ref through one open eye...

Dare I say it was a little bit like when Jimmy collapsed under the force of Baah's flailing arm that got him in the chest on NYD...

Can we go out yet?

Apart from the "sufficient force" argument that has crept in to whether it is a foul ot not.

I've seen far more incidents where a penalty has not been given when the force of the push was far more than the use of his head.

Guy on X made a great point, if Gabriel had gone down also, ref would’ve stopped the game for clash of heads, ref would probably given a drop ball to the keeper.

that would be strange considering Saliba was the one doing the headbutting lol

definitely a penalty for me. Joao Pedro is in control of the ball, Saliba goes to clear it and misses it. If he tried to clear with his foot and took him out no one would be disputing it.

When we see clashes of heads both players are going for the same ball up in the air. Saliba is late and the ball is long gone - a clash of heads would indicate they've both gone for the same ball but it's practically a different phase of play.

I find the arguing mystifying - bar the delusional Arsenal fans - it passes the eye test for a penalty straight away

Saliba does head the ball, though. It comes off Pedro, on to him, and then the contact.

if you get 10% of the ball and 90% of the player that's still a foul

Just so I’m clear……

Next time there’s a corner and a defender heads a player rather than the ball in a challenge then it’s a penalty right?

Drop me off just in the left please mate…..
