Poll: What is it to be then?

It'll be an Interesting meeting to get to hear the short and long term plans again and current progress (although only just got their feet under the table).
Id be especially interested to hear if there's any project update on the training grounds and whether theres plans to redevelop the ground at all, building or extending the site.

The hospitality experience needs a urgent upgrade, no tablecloths on tables, which is very poor. The room is very tired also. I appreciate we have had no money but it was really poor when we had a pre match meal up there just prior to the end of the season..like everybody had just given up. Blue and White tablecloths cost nothing, compared to how it used to be the standards in appearance had clearly slipped, small details but they do leave a lasting impression. Hopefully a member of staff will be assigned to oversee the hospitality experience for everybody on matchdays, there has to be a reason to rebook it again and enthuse to others.

It's a new era, why don't we aim to be better than every other club in this league at everything we do, is there a valid reason why we can't do that? We need somebody in the club who is going to set the standards, a person who has his/her pulse on every aspect of the club and will set the bar high. Can anybody currently see who that person is? I hope Cameron Ogden is also asking himself the same question when he looks around the club. I'm sorry but pie and chips isn't good enough when it comes to hospitality, no matter how posh you try to describe it on the menu. The Ogden family have a lot of work to do, there are plenty of people with money to spend but the Club needs to really up the standards and to do that they need staff who specialise in their field, people with energy and drive and pride in their work. I think a experienced CEO who has worked in football would be a great appointment. Somebody who could report directly back to the Ogden family. There has to be a change in personnel ( specialist staff) inside the club or else we will just see a continuation of what has gone on before and that didn't work.

I don’t know where our new directors live or work but to my mind the fact they’re willing to come to Rochdale on a Monday speaks volumes for their commitment and attitude.

Yes, what's happening in relation to the externals of the club, the stadium and training ground is important but that's all dependent on what's happening inside the club on a day to day basis. The whole structure of the club needs looking at and investment in specialist roles will be just as important as investment on the pitch. The Ogdens will know that anyway and so will the new Directors. The club can't progress until the right staff are in place.

I concur TS. At one time, I used to hire a box during the week at Wigan Athletic occasionally for sales team meetings, they had everything available , screens, projectors, notepads, whiteboards etc. And if I remember correctly they had 3 restaurants running 7 days a week and all at sensible business prices. . . revenue making virtually 365 days of the year and all accomplished with pleasant and knowledgeable staff.

Catering for 1 big occasion 23 times a year or so is unlikely to be hugely successful even if you pull in an occasional funeral or works "do" as well. Staff are temporary, inevitably different people are going to end up doing different jobs without much leadership or prior knowledge. I would be interested to know how well last years Christmas Parties were received....

As I have said many times, the way forward in everything is quality with sensible prices. If the Ogden's are able to fund some redecoration and bring in some serious, knowledgeable, middle management there is much that can be achieved. We have been hamstrung in the past by never having the cash available to do things properly, hopefully this can now change even in a modest way to start with and the profits kept to finance even more developments. Getting a decent electricity deal would be a start and then perhaps putting gas into the kitchens from the monies saved.

We've been paupers very long time, and haven't been able to upgrade, invest and speculate. Now the owners can put great ideas to the test and create increased revenue. Upgrading the whole product, Hospitality, meeting facilities, catering, retail, building and more.

Could be worth getting the guy behind The Padded Seat social media channels to advise on hospitality.

"Although there are some hard decisions to be made to further cut costs, we see the route to sustainability primarily being through revenue generation".

Simple question to the board for me, based on their opening statement. How are we going to generate revenue without investing in the infrastructure/workforce ? It cannot just be about cutting costs. Simon Gauge will know that better than anyone, he's been doing it since he became chairman. The ground is tatty and the playing squad needs improvement. Everything is already being done on a shoestring so how can we accommodate more cost cutting ? We aren't talking Wrexham proportions but money needs to be spent to get the club moving forward again.

I'd expect the new board to set out the answer to your perfectly valid question at the Meet the Board evening. If the planning and presentation is right, there shouldn't really be many questions left unanswered

One major development will be the role of the new Commercial Director. What the remit and profile will be for this post will be absolutely key to income generation

Possibly the most important signing of the summer.

The right candidate will not be cheap but should be worth every penny. Its a full on challenge getting it right commercially at the Dale.

Amongst a host of other things getting 3000 home fans at Spotland most weekend must be high on the priority list.

I don't see the two things as mutually exclusive. We absolutely need to cut unsustainable costs but, as hugely successful business people, I'm sure the new board understand better than most that investment is required in key areas.

If this goes ahead it could help boost exile and away attendance at games.

It would indeed James, were it to be less disrupted by endless industrial action and provided at a reasonable price.

I attended the Dagenham v Dale match last season, and bought an online ticket and since get regular marketing emails, today it’s a Dagenham v West Ham legends game…..

The sort of thing we need to be doing, they’ve been selling their season tickets for about a month…last chance for early bird is soon…..

I believe that one of the Ogdens lives in Epsom, so close to me. If it's Cameron he'll probably be using the helicopter again on Monday. Wonder if he might give me a lift up now & again?

Jim won't be there. It's a "Meet the Board" meeting.

There will be a fans forum pre season.

It would be appreciated (from me at least) if all the new Directors and officers could give us a "bio" about themselves and their dealings. I know very little about our new owners other than a bit of lurking on the internet.
