You'd be fine Lisa. Why so negative about West Wales?

I’m not.

I love West Wales. I spend loads of time in West Wales.

I’d never realised before how unwelcome the English members of my family are.

I’m not sure I’ll spend much time there in the future.

Completely concur with this - the peak is now on us in Pembrokeshire with Hywel Dda feeling the strain.

I'm not a naive person, I'm critical and cynical in temperament, but the failure of the Media to report clearly and accurately what is going on has been shocking to see.

You’re not wrong.
Yesterday PHW reported that Hywel Dda Health Board reported 37 new cases, this was the largest increase in Wales. Carmarthenshire has 31 and Pembs had 6.

So Welsh law says stay inside.

People from wherever say feck that and travel to rural Wales anyway.
As well as being illegal, it places stress on the health care provision in rural wales - and food etc.

Thats not about the people who live, work and love in rural Wales.
Its about the selfish tw@@ts who dont give a damn and travel anyway.

Thats not England vs Wales.
Ifvyou cant see that logic then you are part of the problem.

Beware of the Risen People

It’s a balance though between the infection rate rising and us getting back to some semblance of normal. Germany saw it rise a little then it’s started falling again, and they’ve some freedom at least.

This is killing people - this lockdown I mean. We can’t lose sight of that.

There seem to be a few different ideas. The viroligists are demanding tight restrictions. Public health is worried about well ... general health. The economists are worrying about the future. Best ignore the Economists mind. They are not really scientists. They can’t predict the future.
Stay safe you Jack Bastards.

I read somewhere the other the other day the R rate is a bit like a long term weather forecast, in other words not very reliable.

It seems to me, pretty ridiculous analysis of a problem, they say the R rate is rising, yet they are upping the tests, so i would think they are bound to pick up more positive results.

The true R rate we will never know, IMO no way can you guess something like this, and until they test everyone, it's just guesswork.

I wish I could get my point across a bit better, what I just said, is a very poor explanation of what i want to say, but Iv'e had a few beers tonight.

Because you are talking rubbish. It also was your first response to my post that alluded to driving around wherever you want in England will spread the disease.

How "on earth" can you say that it won't spread?
[Post edited 15 May 2020 20:28]

Driving around England isn't the problem, it's what you do when you get to your destination or make stops en route. We drove to Minehead yesterday, about 40 miles, and walked a 2-3 miles and back along the beach /golf course and encountered far fewer people and at greater separation than we probably would have done if we'd walked from home down to our local village and back which is about the same distance. After the walk, we drove to Dunster Beach, parked facing the sea and had coffee and hot cross buns that we'd brought with us while listening to Pop Master in the car in the lovely sunshine, then we drove home. A very simple but enjoyable morning and everything we did was perfectly safe and sensible.

The problem with driving forty miles is you may potentially be bringing the disease to an area/village that doesn’t currently have it. Or bringing the virus back to the village you live in. People moving around is how it gets from town to town, from country to country, and it’s probably one reason the UK has been affected more than others. We are far more likely to be of the mindset that it doesn’t matter if they move around and ignore the lockdown if you’re careful.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

There is no greater risk of transmission if you continue to observe social distancing rules once you get out of your car wherever that may be. Like I said, if we'd walked to our village instead of driving somewhere else, social distancing would have been more difficult hence the transmission risk would have been greater. It's all about common sense. We weren't at greater risk and we didn't put the population of Minehead at risk. Surely that is obvious?

We've definitely got varying degrees of infection in Wales. There seems to be very few cases in Gwent now, which is great, but far more further west and north.

Typically Swansea seems to be going nowhere, there's a steady 10 - 15 cases a day for the past two weeks with about 1200 tests a day. I think mainly in care settings, as a mate (Dr) told me last week that she'd barely seen anyone in hospital from the wider community for some time.

As Lisa has stated this is based on figures before changes

It’s amazing how little critical thinking there is in the UK. Just swallow whatever narrative is thrown at you

Lol.

I’m not sure I’d go along with that but thank you.

It’s the ‘English billing address being delivered to Wales’ that’s got my goat.

Many of us have people we may order deliveries for that live in different parts of the country, England or Wales. I do it all the time. Not only now, but in general.

Lisa, the "billing address in England" comment was pretty obvious to understand.
People who own second homes here ordering food from their main residence in England.
They thought they were being so clever but they have been rumbled.
I'm glad to say Dyfed Powys Police have escorted many out of Pembs.

Oh yeah, 31 new cases yesterday in Carmarthenshire, biggest increase in a while...... hopefully they are not locals eh?

And the proposed solution of banning them based on billing address would obviously be bollox wouldn’t it.

Your last comment is a disgrace. No one wants to see any infections anywhere.

We were apparently having 200,000 cases a day in London in early March. How do you think we felt? Oh, that’s right, it doesn’t matter - it’s just London ‘Corona central’ innit?

Selfish, selfish cúnts clogging up our hospital beds.

All due to not listening and riding roughshod over Wales.

Well look out next weekend if any fúcker gets caught down here that isn't a local.

Police are feeling it and very pissed off, as are the NHS down here who are wired for a increase now

You are talking complete and utter bollox. And it’s offensive.

I’ve family in Carmarthenshire, I’ve family in Pembrokeshire. And most family in Swansea and London.I live in London where I’ve stayed put throughout.

I’ve agreed many times that people shouldn’t have moved during lockdown.

But you’ve been a complete arsehole. Constant threats about what you’ll do to people who aren’t ‘a local’. If people live in Carmarthenshire or Pembrokeshire who are English or Scottish or from elsewhere in Wales they’ve every right to be there. I know a few people who live permanently in West Wales who are originally from England. What did you want them to do?

Talking about people getting ‘caught down there’.’Clogging up hospital beds’. These are people who are seriously ill. And you’re calling them ‘c*nts’? Take a look at yourself.

Get stuffed you misogynistic bellend.

You’re quite obviously as thick as mince.

How many times do I have to say that people shouldn’t have moved after lockdown. It’s obviously too difficult for you to understand that I’ve never said differently. You’re arguing for the sake of it having decided that I’m the problem since I live in London.

Edited to add - by the way the woman you quoted appears to think the problem was street parties. I’ve no way of knowing whether that’s the case, but she doesn’t mention England.

Clown

Look dicky, calm it down.

I have ALWAYS said that anyone traveling during lockdown is wrong. I’ve never said differently. But some of this has become very anti English. People traveling West from areas of Wales that have been more badly affected are just as much of a problem, more so probably as there will be more of them.

Everyone wants to stop any spread. We all, on here, I assume have family all over Wales, including West Wales, it’s offensive to suggest otherwise.

The spike in Carmarthenshire is likely caused by a big increase in testing. The % of people testing positive has not increased particularly if you follow the data being put on social media from the person called ‘Lloyd’.

But there are also people traveling around the other way. There was some little scrote from Carmarthen on social media throwing a swan around on Gower in the past few days. He will then have gone back to Carmarthen and is transparently so stupid that social distancing will not enter his sociopathic little head.

This disease has traveled North and West. There’s no way of avoiding it completely as it only takes one or two to bring infection to an area. And some are having to travel for work. Delivery drivers for example are taking produce throughout the UK.
