Saints Dominating The Nations Television Screens
Tuesday, 7th Oct 2014 09:02

After only being televised once in the opening three months of the season, Saints will be dominating the television screens during the five week period running up to the New Year.

In the opening 11 Premier league games of the season, Saints were only selected for live coverage once, that being the opening day fixture at Liverpool, however the nation being starved of watching one of the most exciting teams of the season so far is about to end when in the run up to the New Year Saints will be on TV 5 times out of 8 fixtures.

The coverage starts on Monday 24th November when we travel to Aston Villa and then we follow that up by meeting Manchester City at home on Sunday 30th November at 1.30pm.

Three days later we travel to Arsenal and again it will be shown live, this time on BT Sports with a 7.45pm kick off, we then play again to make it four out of four on the box when Manchester United arrive at St Mary's on Monday 8th December 8pm kick off.

The TV audience then gets a break with our games against Burnley (A) Everton (H) Crystal Palace (A) not being selected for coverage and then we finish off the year in style by meeting Chelsea on Sunday 28th December 2.05pm kick off.

During this five week eight game period, no less than five matches will have been shown to the nation, coverage of man Unitedesque proportions.

It can only be good for the profile of the club though and in many respects is recognition of the great start we have had for the season.

I would love to think that it is in someway recognition of the great start we have had. However I think it’s more to do with recognisng that the fixture list for us has serious peeks and troughs. There is no coincidence that our only Televised fixture was against Liverpool.

We're only on TV because we're expected to lose but put up a brave fight, similar time that our wheels fell off last season,i hope we're made of sterner stuff and Forster shows his worth, J rod can be the star in these games and not for sale coyr.

Also, the BPL TV contract has a minimum number of appearances required for each team.

There is no minum on TV apearences but every club gets paid for at least 10. Saints featured in 10 last season, Stoke made the fewest with 7 (but would have got paid for 10) while Liverpool appeared 28 times making them the highest earners from TV and Proze money even though they came 2nd!
