Absolutely chuffed with the win . Especially as the whole place seemed flat , players and fans on both sides which lead to the worst half of football I think I’ve seen in many a year . I can’t remember ever , in my near 50 years of going to Rangers , the crowd cheer the blowing of the half time whistle 🤣🤣🤣. It really made me laugh but the performance was diabolical . However I thought we were more on the front foot in second half which showed and was the difference in the end . Oxford are weird. They were neat and tidy at times and if they had a pair of b*llocks between them then they could have taken us to the cleaners but they got themselves in good positions then stopped. I’ve never seen a team more intent on going backwards when it’s easier to go towards the oppositions goal.
Thought Kolli did ok considering he’s been unwell today and the centre backs were decent . Good goals from Field and Varane slowly growing into this division. But the game was a total dog with fleas in a league, I’m starting to think, is of a pretty poor standard this season.
Still, keep the clean sheets coming and we’ll be ok. I’d have laughed if you’d said that to me 3 weeks ago.
Have no evidence of this but I get the impression that Ruben, Riley and Hoos stepped in in those meetings 3 weeks ago and put changes in place . Since those meetings were held , MC has looked energised and happier, when I thought he was a gonna if I’m honest. The team has pulled together much more than they were previously and vocally (as well as on the pitch )are now more supportive of the coach, when there was all sorts of rumblings before. There has been injury updates for fans that are detailed and informative not just thrown together , and Kolli was immediately placed back into the squad (Stoke at home) to stop that void from growing deeper and darker. Who knows maybe he signed a contract ? It’s lead to happier place and positive results on the pitch …if so?
This is a valid point . We only knew Armstrong signed an extension because his agent posted a picture of them both shaking hands at the training ground . Maybe the contract has been sorted / signed now ?
They clearly didn’t fancy it from the first few moments and it really showed. Sainz the main culprit but everyone around him was the same , sulking , throwing their arms around and arguing amongst themselves. The lad at left back was just fuming all first half and he never made it out after the break . Probably stormed out . I thought they were a bit embarrassing actually with all their histrionics , led by Sainz and that melon head Barnes. But it still didn’t help the nerves as Clive mentions. I remember looking at the scoreboard at 59 mins and thinking I’ll feel a lot better if it’s the same score at 85 mins .
It got to 85 mins and I didn’t feel any better ….if anything I felt more nervous . Madness ! 3-0 up with 5 mins left and I’m terrified we’ll throw this away and draw …or worse !! Pathetic 🤣 What have they done to us ?
And I agree with you for what it’s worth . You only have to look back at my posts in the matter. Strange you’d take umbrage as I expected the other side of the debate to get more upset . Just thought it might be nice to enjoy the win , as rare as it is, rather than start another thread about bloody Nourry, good or for bad .
But maybe winning games isn’t the most important thing to some people .
Could be wrong but I think he actually done the injury in the move before the one he got treatment from. Cook put a ball into the box that went straight to their keeper but in trying to get across the defender he seemed to jar his leg and pulled clutching behind his knee. He stretched it out a little and carried on . 30 seconds later he went down in the previously mentioned move clutching the same part of his leg .
He looked so gutted as he knew he was just finding his feet I think
Will give him credit that his work rate is way up on a month ago and he shows some nice touches .
I also think we all forget he’s only 24 . I know that’s not especially young but because of his size and the way he plays I think he gets less leeway than others .
However , I still didn’t think he contributed a great deal when we had the ball yesterday. Can’t really tell where he is playing .
Improving slowly and maybe he needs a full season to adapt. But we still need so much more from a player who clearly has talent
SF has his limitations especially at home but after his performance at Watford it would be a nonsense to leave him out Wednesday . Starting to like Varane more and more too. I think it’s Colback who may struggle to hold on to his place when he is fit
Haven’t the same people died on the same hill over the same stuff on an identical thread ? Jeez
Some people think Nourry is too blame for everything and anything . Some people have taken it upon themselves to challenge almost any criticism of him. Some people know more than they can say on a public forum and some people indulge in the politics of envy snd can’t bear the thought of others knowing more than they do about certain aspects of the club.
It’s all in the middle somewhere but bloody Norah…can’t we just enjoy something ?
Didn’t post yesterday as I was just too exhausted.
But was overjoyed with the result and equally the performance . I thought you could see from the moment Sainz went down in the corner in the first couple of minutes they he, and they didn’t fancy that one bit . We wanted it more than they did especially first half . We did have a mad 5 minutes where we made 4 or 5 unbelievably bad errors but got through it and played some lovely football at times in some pretty horrendous conditions . Not had time to read what others think but will read about later this evening .
But it felt so good to walk out of LR with a convincing win and performance . I thought Jimmy was great yesterday and that’s before I knew about his father . What a guy. My man of the match and well done to Kolli too. That’s what I call “grasping your chance with both hands “.
Got to make it count on Wednesday now otherwise yesterday will be soon forgotten.
Always remember my mum saying her favourite player was Micky Leach as she felt sorry for him due to all the stick he got from the fans .
Also named after Martyn Busby . When asked about it my dad would always say “not because he was any good , I just like the different spelling of his Christian name “ 🙈
Yeah that was my take . No pressure on us to win , but won there relatively recently . They will rest players but so will we unfortunately. Not a huge journey north to the back end of nowhere and a large allocation will be given too.
Could have been much worse …like a fleetwood for example .
That fills me with more dread than Leicester although we’ll probably get pumped 6 now I’ve said that
This weeks band who ‘hardly any f*cker has ever heard of but were/are amazing’ is Dixie Witch from Texas . Incredible live band in a small sweaty club(not this clip unfortunately) but still so good .
