I’m not really sure it’s a debate is it? I was reacting to a post which dismissed human influenced climate change because the climate has always changed! How is that debating anything? Maybe we have different opinions on what a debate is. On the subject of football, there are some on here who are able to break the game down tactically and present their reasonings in amazing ways that I for one wouldn’t be able to, the higher up the league the wider the gap between my understanding of what’s going on tactically and the top managers understanding. Doesn’t stop me commenting on it but I wouldn’t exactly be on firm ground to tell them where they are going wrong. |

Find it amazing how many people are suddenly experts on subjects they barely made it to secondary school level on. Imagine someone going into their work place daring to tell them how to do there job.. I accept that people should be skeptical especially in complex situations but to hear some people speak its like they are the bloody experts |

The argument should possibly have been framed around energy security rather than human influenced climate change. Can’t understand why it’s not possible to build better flood defenses. But again it comes down to people not wanting to pay for it. Anyway, having this Saturdays game called off due to adverse weather wouldn’t be the worst thing, need to get some players back. |

I think some people just want to wind other people up. |

Some pubs are thriving, have adapted to a changing market. Plenty serving a good range of beer and some very decent food. I didn’t used to mind a grotty pub on a football away day but these days I must admit I prefer somewhere I can get a decent lunch before the game |

Are these not exactly the same arguments used when the smoking ban came in initially, didn't work then and won't work now. Can't imagine people smoking indoors now and in a few years it will seem weird to remember people smoking in shared areas like pub gardens as well. |

I can imagine it will depend on the club, we often joke about Man Utds fans not being from Manchester so I can see a time when some of their games are played elsewhere and why a fan actually based in Manchester is more important than a fan based in the Middle East. But I also think (hope) I will be going to watch the Rangers in 10, 20 and 30 years time. |

Like most things it’s not a one size fits all, this idea of these mass disordered queues self regulating with chaps politely waiting their turn is not the reality I see much, women in the main dislike it and is a big reason why I instead of my Mrs will head to the bar. |

If we had a midfielder that could play on the half turn then defenders could play it through the the middle. At the moment they pretty much know its coming straight back if they play it forward. Generally meaning they get pushed backwards and into trouble. Hopefully Varane if it happens will be that player |

Well looks like its on, Trump has agreed, providing everything is stacked in his favour. Which is fine, I doubt she will shy away from it. I think Harris as an ex prosecutor will destroy him in a debate especially if he doesn't up his game and switch away from name calling. All he really has after that is lies which Harris will call him out on. The 'nasty' journalist nearest to him did try to frame every question using statements Trump had made previously as you say to wind him up and get a reaction, is this not exactly what Trump does? The journalist furthest away from him works for Fox, or at least had a lengthy interview with him just prior where she kissed his arse, so was hardly a massively anti trump panel. He should have handled it better! |

Don’t like the guy but can’t deny that he was injured in a shooting incident, normally described as being shot :) Have to remember he has never won the popular vote and there are fewer boomers left to vote for him this time round, coupled with his approach of calling people names, dumb, nasty, low IQ, even having a go at Jewish people this week isn’t having the same effect as last time. |

He is not geared up to fight a candidate like Harris, he pretty much said so in one interview where he described it like changing a boxer mid fight, you got one on the ropes and they go and bring in a replacement. |

Not impossible that Trump drops out now, pretty much sold his VP out during the NABJ interview, has been distancing himself as much as he can from Project 2025. He'll stay in the race long enough to ensure he does not go to Prison. He will not want to lose to Harris |

Agree that name calling is not healthy but to be fair that is Trump's domain, calling people dumb, even making fun of a disabled journalist. He embodies the idea that if you have no principles you cannot be held accountable to them. |

They still pay taxes though, worlds a different place now. Unlikely that any sixteen year old will be leaving schooland getting a job that will eventually allow them to buy a house and raise a family. Education just doesn’t appear to be important to many, this is where I think the UK will be overtaken |

Suicide pact seems a tad hyperbolic.. I would imagine it takes several years to get new sites up and running to the point they are contributing to the world’s oil supplies, ready for the UK to buy it back. In the mean time the Country could be working on more sustainable models. Struggle to understand why people are so anti the UK trying to become energy self sufficient using renewables, asking what about the oil used in turbines etc seems pathetic. Being ideally placed to take advantage of wind and tidal energy I would have hoped the UK would be leading the charge, being the most knowledgeable, having the best engineers, being able to export those services, all very useful to the Country, but no f**k it, lets just keep buying fossil fuels off despots. |

It would seem that you have decided that these are the only options. Its a strange way of communicating to decide what the answers are to your questions as you ask them. Governments do have levers they can pull, borrowing to purchase a commodity is I would imagine different to borrowing to spend on say tax cuts. |

What about the revenues generated by the Water Companies, the power companies, the railways.. Is it not possible that a Country should be able to harness its resources to the benefit of all its people, rather than just the shareholders? |
