I assume he was well aware of the possible transfer to Leeds before Tuesday's match yet still put in an excellent performance in my opinion. Credit to him for that.

I think that's a fair summary of the game. Both the manager and the players did well today.

A Pretty Big Wake Up Call...
at 21:18 27 Nov 2018

Good OP and agree with much of that.

It's often said that the better teams expose your weaknesses and I think that was the case on Saturday, where it led to us conceding too many goals.

The fact is we don't have a defensive midfielder who is quick to close down the space of attacking players, read and break up attacks and support the full back when exposed. Tettey for Norwich did that well I thought.

Neither do we have a midfielder who is comfortable receiving the ball under pressure at different angles from the goalkeeper or defenders, and who can then move the ball on quickly to initiate counter attacks.

The manager has tried several different combinations of the midfielders available to him and in my opinion none have been effective when pressed by the opposition. This has led to panic and uncertainty in several matches when playing out from the back, and Saturday was another case in point.

Unfortunately those weaknesses were exploited by Norwich and contributed to the goals conceded.

Up until Saturday's game I had been entirely supportive of what the manager has been doing, including the team changes made whether for reasons of necessity or otherwise. However I was surprised that he started with a midfield of Fer, Fulton and Celina as they simply weren't mobile enough to cope with the runs and movement of the Norwich players. The pairing of Naughton and Grimes in the second half addressed that to some extent.

Like others I am looking forward to seeing how we play with having an out and out centre forward in Bony in the team, even if he isn't the type of forward that the manager would prefer. I think the last time we started with a centre forward was when Baker-Richardson was up front against QPR and that didn't turn out too bad.

Good post.

Taking into account the number of players leaving and joining the club, the lack of cover in key positions and also player injuries, then he's doing an excellent job in those circumstances.

Agree with much of that in terms of the season so far.

In today's match Yan Dhanda failed to track back or pick up the runner on the overlap in the first half and left Declan John exposed a few times.

I think it's too early to make a judgment on how DJ can contribute to the side.

Yes it's pleasing to see our players adapting to the different roles and variations in formation required of them by the manager during a game.

The level of effort they're putting in has been refreshing to say the least and I think it's noticeable how much this is appreciated by us fans.

Time for those 'senior' pros who haven't featured so far to show the same.

Those are false choices.

There are a range of ownership models and a given model does not necessarily guarantee success.

Trust meeting
at 12:27 8 Sep 2018

I thought the Trust meeting this week was very informative about the mediation process and the work being done behind the scenes by the legal team. Based on that it wouldn't suprise me if the American owners are only just realising the strength of the Trust's case, hence them contacting the Trust's legal team after the mediation deadline.

I feel there are some very positive things happening on the pitch at present and I am throroughly enjoying many aspects of the team's performances. Ideally the American owners will recognise that the progress being made by the manager and the current mediation efforts taking place provide an ideal opportunity to bring the Football Club back together in a unified effort to regain its status as a successful Premier League Club.

Although I have criticised the Trust in the past I am much more positive about its current direction, focus, handling of the forum meeting and attempts to improve communication. I would urge fans to get behind the Trust in the weeks ahead and show their confidence in the elected board members to ensure that it is successful in pursuing its aims as described on its website.

A positive statement with a clear explanation of where the Trust is at the moment and what we can expect in the future.

Looking forward to the next member's forum.

Leeds Fan In Peace

One of my favourite players in recent years.

He could run the show and could see passes that others couldn't, weren't capable of executing or too afraid to try in case they got the amount of stick that Pablo got when it didn't come off (unjustified in my opinion). A brave player in that sense.

As mentioned already his occasional injuries and the time he then took to reach the levels he was capable of was frustrating.

Still classy from what I've seen of his performances on the TV for Leeds in the Championship. It's a pity we didn't have someone with his technical ability and football intelligence in the squad last season to help change and win games.

Early evaluation
at 11:12 18 Aug 2018

I think that's a good summary of what's happened so far.

Like you, I am still hoping that we can get three or four players in to help this young side develop individually and as a team. However all the signs at the moment point to players being moved on solely for financial rather than football reasons. From the debates on here about the Club's accounts it's hard to determine at this time whether the manager will be given a chance to recruit good replacements.

The financial impact of relegation from the Premier League has been compounded by the failure to recover the high fees paid in last season's transfer gambles and also the excessive wage bill that has developed since Andre Ayew and Bafe Gomis were signed on 'frees'. With relegation from the PL always a possibility for a club like ours, it's disappointing to say the least that football club wasn't managed differently to mitigate it's effect on the finances and hence allow the best possible chance for the Club to recover its PL status.

McBurnie
at 22:47 17 Aug 2018

Agreed. I thought Ollie McBurnie battled hard despite having poor service.

Their pressing tactics and physicality disrupted our attempts to play a quick passing game. Tom Carroll will have to improve on his ability to retain or shield the ball when put under pressure. Jay Fulton has put a good shift in but I think he lacks mobility and the quickness of thought for how the manager wants to play.

Exactly.

He has stated that he would like to bring in players to support the ones he already has here and that includes a midfield player like Ryan Woods that is essential to the style of football he wants to play.

A terrific effort from all the players today and I thought quite lot of fans stayed behind to show their appreciation. I also noticed Wilfried Bony on the pitch congratulating the players as they came off - good to see that as well.

Many good performances including Joe Rodon and Jay Fulton whose confidence appeared to grow as the game went on. Ollie McBurnie gave everything and was well up for the physical battle with the Preston centre backs. Martin Ollson and Mike Van De Horn demonstrated their experience in several situations. Bersant Celina was probably playing a deeper midfield role than was ideal but was always looking to do something with the ball. You could see why the manager wants to bring in a player like Ryan Woods to do that role instead, so that they could move the ball on quickly to Celina as the playmaker.

I couldn't agree more with the need to support the team at matches and especially to keep encouraging the younger players at difficult periods in games or when they make a mistake.

The statement sounds very reasonable and they've shown themselves in the past to be very good at them. Unfortunately they've also been shown to be not very good at running a football club and seem to have little understanding of the game in this country.

Whilst the cost cutting was a financial imperative, it's been done with little regard for the balance of the squad. They're going to have to be very patient indeed and get a lot more football savvy too if they plan on getting their money back in the next few years.
