Guess what, I'd be happy with a point.

Marti interview in The Independent
at 15:46 21 Feb 2025

Seems pretty obvious, but is really difficult to coach. Ray Wilkins always had that split second more because he always received the ball in space.

The more you listen/read what he says the more I realise how lucky we are.

I didn't realise that Andre Dozzell is near the bottom this season for stats regarding passes forward, creation, assists etc. Along with Field and Varane.

MLS new season

One for our American cousins and ex pats over in the good old US of A. With a new season starting just wondered if any of you go to any games, who you support, is the standard improving?

An introduction

Blimey, Unigate. I worked for Dairy Crest, who I think bought Unigate in the early 2000s. All part of the old Milk Marketing Board now long gone.

Centre Forwards / Wide Attackers - next Season

I think the club will be more concerned with purchasing defensive players in the summer.

Celar?
at 11:49 19 Feb 2025

It will suit his style. I sit in the Upper Loft, right behind the goal. Celar was making runs, and you could see what he wanted and where, but the ball was never delivered. A big culprit was Cook, several times he just didn't see the run, or when he did it was over hit.
With a ball playing centre back, hello Edwards, that is a great ball to play. Along the ground bypassing the midfield completely.

Loftus Rd is described as a 'tenured' stadium. Maybe I'm a bit thick, but what does that mean?

Really looking forward to him returning. Will be more mobile than Frey, and a bit quicker.
His 2nd against Cardiff was top drawer, a classy finish.

Er, why you having a pop at me? I said his corners were better.
I'm not sure why everyone is getting all upset about whether Paal is good or not as he'll be gone in May and we'll have to get a new left back to argue about

Middlesborough also being linked. On the verge of sacking Carrick apparently.

Play Offs? Dream on
at 07:29 17 Feb 2025

13 games to go.
7 of which are currently in top 10
4 of those 7 against the top 4

We'll be close, but no cigar. Think we'll finish just short, 8th or 9th unable to recover after the early season meltdown.

Same will happen next season.

Modern stats and terminology
at 14:35 16 Feb 2025

Being near the wrong side of 50 I was also very dismissive of stats in the modern probably because I didn't understand the terminology.
However, having had a crash cause from my son I have been converted.
It does work if you allow it to work for the whole season.

QPR v Derby match thread
at 16:07 15 Feb 2025

Appreciate the post.

I do understand the budget constraints, maybe not in depth, but I do get it that we are not going to be competing with the majority of teams financially. So, yeah, we have to be accepting that some players are slightly off.
I do think the transfer policy of the club now is spot on. Putting aside the players signed for the first team and Madsen (cough), we have a really clear plan to buy young players (cheaply) and develop in the DS. Exactly what Sunderland did 2/3 years ago. I expect QPR to be pushing top 4 in 2/3 seasons time.

However, the squad is a bit lopsided now, and packed with loan players who are not, despite what some may hope, never going to sign with us (maybe Saito).
Take out the loans and those whose contracts end this season leaves you with Nardi, Varane, Field and Chair. That is 4 players of the starting 11 from last night that will be left. I'm not wishing half the team away, over half that team will be gone come May anyway.
Christ, that means we'll need to keep Smyth and Field. Bugger.

I was annoyed and grumpy last night. Watching those two in central midfield kicking the ball directly into touch from a 10yd pass is doing my head in. Were we great, magnificent, amazing as some described it? The pretty equal stats suggest not really. Were we clinical? Very, 4 goals from 5 on target says so. Can't argue with that.

I thought we were better against Blackburn though. When Morgan started, and moved forward with the ball and passed forward. Against a better team than Derby.

I think the reason MC picks him when fit is because of the fact we don't actually have another left back! I thought he did OK last night, much improved set pieces.

We spent all summer trying to offload him and he'll be gone at the end of the season.

I enjoyed the goals, but the rest I could pretty much of left really.
You forgot Smyth and Cook to add to Field and Dunne who should be sold/released in the summer.

Couldn't agree more.

Great we scored 4 goals, from 4 chances I think, but we have played a lot, lot better and lost.
I've had it with Field and Varane in midfield together, it is painful to watch. Varane passing the ball 10 yards, sideways of course, straight into the SB Stand was typical.

I think I'm annoyed because so many times in that final third it breaks down due to the same players doing the same stupid things/decisions.

No I wasn't. I was more impressed with the Blackburn game.
I think the standard has been so low for a decade now, that some are happy watching that tonight and say it was magnificent. It was very far from that.

March will tell us where we really are.
