I remember protesting against Rupert Lowe outside St Mary's board room and he just shut the curtains 🤣 I think what it tells me is the critical part of the club is recruitment. Get that right and you can thrive like Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford. Get it wrong and everything else you do is pointless. Even a brilliant manager can't spin gold from straw. |

So we're ok with boo'ing the players off the field, but we're bothered that one has to go to a lounge and present a shirt cos he's a bit embarrassed? So he should be. The whole team should have been wheeled out. That was an utterly spineless performance and if they don't want to end up doing things like that then maybe they should put more effort in. The manager is no better. Surely you come in and make us harder to beat? But no, we are wide open. If he is here for 12 months I'll be amazed. [Post edited 6 Jan 16:15]

The PL is not more competitive than ever. The same teams are at the top with the most money. No one else wins anything. Below that there's a few jockeying for Europe then the rest are teams doing nothing but trying to stay up. They all might go down. We are in that purgatory. Could go down (definitely this season), could come back up, then could get relegated. Such is modern football and it's crap. |

Martin has cost us. If we are more pragmatic we may have a chance but I think k it's too late. It would have been hard enough to stay up anyway but playing how we did for 16 games has probably left us with too much to do even if we are suddenly hard to beat. Martins stubbornness is going to cost us I fear. The question is can we get back up again at the first attempt. |

Funny how last time we went down we had to lose players and cut jobs. When we made the play off final it was the world's richest game and critical to our finances and planning. It seems to me that we are OK with being relegated again. I can't understand that when there's so much at stake |

Don't think it matters what we do now. It's too late. Earlier tonight we were 12 to 1 ON , to be relegated. Let that sink in. |

I think the damage was done in the summer with the recruitment. I don't like the style of play and I think we could be doing better, but I dont think anyone keeps this team up. |

Liverpool 1st summed it up for me. 25 minutes where we looked fairly comfy. Then our keeper gets it. He can wait til everyone clears the box, maybe slow the game down and give us a breather. Oh no... He quickly rolls it out to a player facing him, in a crowded box. Liverpool were waiting and pounced on fernandes immediately. 5 seconds later it's in our net. From absolutely nothing. Can anyone, anyone at all, tell me what the benefit is in giving it to a player who has no idea what's behind him, in a crowded penalty area surrounded by top players who are currently the best in the league. What were we thinking would happen? The reason is they are told to do that by Martin. Every week we give away cheap goals. It's utterly incomprehensible. You wouldn't do that at under 12's level. |

Funny enough I moved there this week. Hard to have an opinion yet as you have to use it a while for the algorithm to start to understand what you're interested in. Early impressions are that there are way less users, and that there a lot less replies from bots and fewer ads. But with less users there is less content and less to find interesting. That will change if it grows. It is nice to try an alternative to X which has turned quite toxic since Musk took over. |
| Forum Thread | Sums us up... at 18:27 9 Nov 2024
From a match report I just read... ' it was the usual story for Saints: plenty of possession, lots of pleasing moves, zero threat in front of goal. If they cannot manage a shot on target against one of the Premier League’s jumpiest defences, it is hard to see a route to survival for them.' |

Depends if they think it's worth the gamble that someone else will keep us up. I'm not sure this team is good enough whoever is in charge although I definitely don't think RM's rigid style has helped us win games. |

My friends were very close to it. They didn't say he appeared drunk. I don't want to speculate wildly about such a sad incident but I seem to remember that it was a heart issue that caused him to fall initially. |

RM just can't coach a team to play attacking football . He's terrified of taking any risks so we are stuck with this turgid passing for passings sake style. Apparently we pass it around the back, in order to create space and opportunities further forward, but the evidence is crystal clear. It does not work. |

Well I usually judge the season after 10 games. Right now it's 9 games and we have 1 point. Sometimes it's embarrassing being a saints fan. |

Not really true. When they came up, they bought 22 players. In their last game, not one of those 22 were in the starting 11. So spending money isn't the complete answer. They've done well clearly, but it seems to be done by throwing enough mud at the wall and seeing what sticks. |
