Welsh Government Scandalous waste of money.
at 09:20 5 Oct 2024

But nobody in the Aberavon constituency would vote for anyone who said they'd withdraw investment from Tata. No matter what political party they were from.

There does need to be accountability but the electorate don't realise the power they have at the ballot box, most don't use it.

They're dammed if they do and dammed if they don't regarding grants and investment.

Tata in Port Talbot has been a dead duck for years, probably since privatisation, but Stephen Kinnock and others would happily see more cash thrown at it because that's what people want them to do and say.

The Crown Estates

Most crown estate land is bought as an investment rather than a birthright. If they didn't buy it someone else would.

At least crown estate land see's a return to the public purse rather than profits disappearing to an offshore tax haven.

It's not perfect, but there are far worse landlords around.

I agree. But it would be interesting to compare this across the entire public sector over a decade or so rather than look at a right wing website snapshot.

For instance, I used to organise meetings on a government procurement card in pub's/restaurants across Wales. It cost about £15 a head for lunch but the meeting room was free, probably a total of £180

Hiring a venue for a meeting would have been £250, but as far guido Fawkes and registered receipts are concerned concerned I've spent £180 on lunch.

It's click bait, but there is unnecessary waste I wouldn't argue with that.

This doesn't appear to be acceptable at all but I'd like to see full justification of the spend before making comment. At the moment it looks like click bait.

It's not a massive amount of money in the grand scheme of things, and I bet some local authorities have "wasted" more.

No it is or was definitely the Crown Estate.

I haven't necessarily got a problem with them owning land and the money used for developing it, paid by developers going to the treasury / royal family.

Access to the beach by the public is a different story. That's taking the urine.

Iran attacking Israel

For a couple who claim they're "travellers" they only seem to post films of Iran there are over 50, except a handful about Dubai. Their first film is called "Iran, Jewel in the world"

That young lady in the photo features in a few of them too, in exactly the same pose wearing exactly the same clothes.

Mahsa's second channel is called Iranvillagegirl.

I smell a propaganda shaped rat. Have any posters been there?

I don't know if they've been arrested yet. But they've got to be looking at 18 months inside surely?

I'm pretty certain the Crown Estate own - or at least have owned in the past the land that Morfa retail park / Swansea.com are on.

What we do know about the last government regarding donations/ gifts is bad enough and worse than anything Starmer has accepted.

Have the Tories paid back the donations from the racist fella yet that they still received until shortly before the election?

None of this should be ok.

You're clearly an antisemite, as demonstrated by many of your posts. That particular post isn't necessarily antisemitic but is sailing very close to the wind. I genuinely don't think you get it.

Anybody can criticise the acts of Israel without being antisemitic, I acknowledge their right to self defence but their actions are far too extreme, particularly in Gaza. Iran are fair game I my opinion.

What Israel are doing is not like the holocaust, any comparison, even skirting around it by using "national socialism" instead of Nazi is massively antisemitic.

How can you justify support for an invasion of Ukraine but not treat the actions of Israel similarly? I support neither, both are wrong to some extent.

Antisemitism is not judging other countries similar to Israel. You don't, you're antisemitic. They've been attacked, they can respond.

I haven't responded to you for a while, because you're not worth it. But this is a serious situation. Cut the wind up, it's making you look like a thick idiot.

No the EAF wouldn't.

But there are also advanced plans for a sustainable aviation fuel plant on the current TATA site and a manufacturing / maintenance hub for floating offshore wind turbines. And on top of this the entire area is designated a Freeport.

A lot of this is still up in the air, but it's not all bad news. In fact It could be a significant improvement.

There is huge investment planned in Port Talbot - IF it happens it will see an increase in the number of well paid jobs available.

It's the biggest and most open consultation you can get.

It was also in Plaid's manifesto.

If we had further consultations and referenda on every thing a government put in it's manifesto nothing would get done.

The points weren't even hidden, they were on the BBC key points article.

I'd agree that should be the case. I'd also like to see a general election after each change of prime minister.

I suspect it's a bigger issue now because the donor is Lord Alli.

Ignoring the obvious reason why the Mail, Sun, Express and GB News don't like him he also wants to reform the press. Apparently to remove political bias amongst other things. They're loving this.

I think the issue is that this wouldn't have been a story 6 months ago.

It's not right, it's not against the rules but it should be. This kind of thing has been happening for years at all levels of politics and shouldn't have been. Just look at local councillors declarations.
