Thanks TVOS. Class finishing by Hendo. No tippy tappy tripe and shooting towards The Sandy 2nd half. It worked.

Haven't seen that game but there is a lot of online comment about Mr Oliver's officiating last night.

As for this National League season, It's no worse than League 1 or 2 for refereeing standards. The ever poor Marsden was weak v BIFFO's but in general, the refs aren't terrible in this division IMHO. Seen much worse from the likes of Styles, Walton, Marsden et al in the EFL in years gone by.

Why Do Managers See Different?
at 01:02 11 Feb 2025

There's been a fair few post-match interviews by Jim where he states "performance" is the main thing for him, irrespective of result.
He doesn't state that after the awful performance v Ebbsfleet and dances round the awful performance v Oldham. Unconvincing, Greg.

It's been mentioned in other posts. I don't like the guy but his apology for his team providing rubbish, with a team that was awful, is honest. He aims for change, apologises to travelling fans and takes responsibility. Dale fans travelled from Malta to watch that aberration v Oldham. Our manager gives them nothing. Speaks volumes, Greg.

This thread has been proof of what sincere, committed and loyal Dale fans have observed in the team that represents us now. Nothing nasty, just thoughtful, honest reflections of an awful game yesterday, and last Tuesday. We aren't "professionals", but we have watched far more football concerning RAFC and learned accordingly. We want to make it better.

Fans remarking on tactics seen at that game that are, frankly, making our team worse. Tactics and processes that we've seen repeated far too often under this coach. We want to make it better.

He's been given funds and chosen to allocate wages on far too many similar players, because he likes samey. That's naïve and wasteful, especially in a league that requires a few big lads. We've had a good result here and there that is true, but RAFC is so obvious to opponents, and easily disabled in its one strategy. (Yeovil is clearly now a one off). We want to make it better.

Either Jim changes his approach or Jim has to be changed. No malice, we want to make it better for RAFC.

That was one of the most painful to watch games I've ever seen as a Dale fan. We were weak as p*** v Oldham, today we were just totally clueless. You all saw what went on.

What really did my head in was a repeated mistake from last Tuesday. Opposition have a corner attacking our goal in time added on. We didn't leave a man or two up near the centre circle to take advantage of a possible breakaway. Today, from the corner, Waller caught the ball and had the perfect opportunity to launch it up to the man / men near the centre circle in the endeavour to score a goal..... men who weren't there, again. Is it the mythical "coaching manual" or managerial incompetence? Clueless.

Don't shoot, only put a cross in when you get to the oppositions goal line, never before, look backwards rather than forwards and pass accordingly in all areas of the pitch. How many games has that approach ever won?

In the short time since the Yeovil victory, Dale have become unwatchable, reverting to the worst traits of Jim's managerial "acumen" .

Best to knock a 0 off "Project 5000" if that's the best we can do. I've seen us get some pastings in the past but today was as unattractive as anyone would want to see from their team. Utter rubbish. Sideways. Always.

Oldham game
at 00:06 5 Feb 2025

Showed Dale up for being so lightweight, a big failing in Jim's teams. One Calvin Andrew would have contributed more than Mitchell and Rodney did together tonight.
Why oh why do we sign 6 or 7 samey midfield whippets when we need some muscle and grit for a game like this, games which will occur regularly in this league. Something MRKT clearly can't get its head round. Where is the Gary Jones type leader?
Going backwards (literally!) to the tippy tappy sideways backwards at the back in the second half when we're losing, and tippy tappy around the opposition box instead of firing a few shots in - bewildering.
Oldham have a corner with 2 minutes to go. We STILL don't leave a man up (Allarakhia would have been ideal) to give the opportunity of a punt / breakaway to equalise because the "coaching manual" says different. Bewildering.
Jim says we didn't play with enough passes - there was so much time wasted messing around passing the ball at crucial points in the game instead of acting incisively. Other tactics are available.
Apparently "the tension got to us tonight". Why? That should have been dealt with by the manager. "The tension" didn't get to Oldham.
Poor post-match by Jim. Blaming a pitch they lost on and Oldham won on isn't a viable excuse.
Jim has the potential to be a good manager but he is so slow to learn from mistakes we can all see and are discussed between friends post-match far too often.
A wake up call indeed.

The ineffectual, attention seeking charade goes on, even though everyone can see through it. Sad that someone should dedicate so much time to such a waste of time. When will the fish on a hook graphic defence be deployed?

Should be an interesting game on Tuesday.

Given our inability to provide a suitable playing surface TWICE, we should at least be offering refunds and free tickets to Boston supporters, whenever this match is actually played.

We were assured by the club tonight's game was going ahead. Given recent weather, believable. 5:45 PM sat in Ratcliffes with regulars bouyed by Saturday's superb performance. 15 minutes later, rumours circulate. Rumours are confirmed.

Maybe we did have an overly pedantic referee this evening who, surprisingly, called the game off.
However, RAFC have given him the opportunity to be overly pedantic (if that was the case) by ignoring their own comments about the pitch at the pre-season Fans Forum. It was said then from the top table that there were problems with the pitch, which was met with surprise by supporters. Five months and several postponements down the line, (some were inevitable due to horrendous weather) we've seen two games v Boston postponed on mild weather days. Even Halifax played tonight! Where was the fix to what was known last August?

Do those on the "top table" realise the damage to our footballing fortunes and the reputational damage that has cost the club plenty in waste (trays galore of unsold pies were carried through Ratcliffes to the kitchen) and lost hospitality, again? Are they mithered? Seemingly not.
By twenty to eight, not one director (not even the Trust director) showed their face in Ratcliffes to have a conversation with the faithful (and a couple of Boston fans) who stayed behind to support our excellent bar provision.

Seemingly unable to run a professional football club and get games on on a sunny day, please can RAFC employ someone who knows how to do so? The current board - volunteers, investors or otherwise - appear incapable of doing so.

Fans Forum Thursday y'all.

Unfortunately, the same BBC mistake is now appearing with Tuesday 28th January as its date. As TVOS has pointed out in another post, Stuart Morland isn't even the match official. The other two NL games tonight have "season so far" stats on their pages, not Dale v Boston. Very poor.

According to BBC, Andrew Tutte is one of those who "will lead the team on an interim basis."

A FRMSE signing to Dale IIRC ?
