Giving away a throw in or throwing away possession at the start of the game? Not sure if Police spoke to MLT but they had an admission anyway. Wonder if they spoke to the spread firms but either way it doesn't land at the CPS's door on a whim.
If Football Authorities find evidence of wrong doing and have names, accounts and alleged 'brokers' it will go to court. Why is football any different from cricket or banking and being a 'hero' does not exonerate those who commit fraud.
My main hope is that this will blow over and remain unfounded but if not we must see justice served to all those involved. For me the integrity of sport is the most important thing and those who cheat should be punished professionally and through the criminal courts if necessary. Cricket sets a good example.
I supposed I could have posted on Twitter - 'Lundekvam is a bit of a sad coont but Le Tissier is a top bloke' -' and let people read between the lines.
The Police were interested in Le Tissier revelations, how do you think the CPS got involved? It passed their evidential tests for prosecution but was not pursued as it was deemed after balancing all the factors it was 'not in public interest'. What the factors were I don't know but costs and elapsed time must have been an issue. In an event hardly a ringing endorsement of Le Tissier's actions and I'm sure it will be revisited in light of Lundekvam's allegations.
The hand wringing of many fans and abuse being aimed at Lundekvam by those who have supported Le Tissier to the hilt is just a bit more than hypocritical. Fraud is fraud regardless of those who admit to it and regardless if they have benefited. An attempt to abuse your professional position and commit crime for personal gain is not going to be well received especially when those who commit alleged offences earn salaries far beyond the reach of 99% of the population let alone our own fanbase.
I hope Claus's revelations are merely the ramblings of a sad figure attempting to raise some money but I am certain this will be investigated by FIFA and if founded will lead to criminal prosecutions. It will also sully the memory of our club as a founder member of the Premier League and our achievements during Lundekvam's career.
My first post for months with what I thought was a valid observation that we may have team to be proud of but our city was awful compared to what Pompey could offer a daytripper. Thought it was point well made but it seems to have been censored or I have forgotten how to post.
