QPR finally taste home victory as Norwich suffer Kolli-wobble – Report
at 19:39:27

About time - but was worth waiting for the win. 3 goals and a clean sheet- what’s not to like. The ref was awful he unnecessarily slowed the game down particularly in the first half, and made some strange decisions and errors. Rayan Kolli was great. He has tremendous pace, far better than Celar and Frey, and two great finishes for the goals. Surely he will now start against Oxford, particularly as Celar I believe could have a torn hamstring, and Frey probably not quite ready.

Kolli was originally my man of the match until I heard that Jimmy Dunne’s father had sadly died during the week. Jimmy also played tremendously well, particularly that clearance he made to deny Norwich a goal. Therefore Jimmy gets my nomination and my condolences!

Celar's deepening nightmare leaves QPR well adrift – Report
at 21:40:55

Where we sit, everyone around was aghast that Celar was going to take the penalty. We all predicted he would miss, and obviously he did. Surely Marti must leave him on the bench for Cardiff. Alfie Lloyd showed more passion and movement in the 20 odd minutes he was on the field than Celar has all season.

As for the speculation around Marti being sacked, firstly I think this would be a huge mistake. We have had so many injuries that any manager and team would be affected, and struggling to find form and gain points. The people who run this club need to look at themselves. Secondly what decent manager in their right mind would want to take us on right now.

Bonfire of the vanities – Report
at 14:37:41

There are some calls for Marti to now go, but that will not solve the underlying problem which is poor recruitment. In any case, what sane manager would want to take on this team of useless, lazy incompetents. We are often told that it can take time for players to adjust to the competitiveness and physicality of the championship, but it’s clear that some of the recruits (Madsen, Celar, Santos etc) were never going to be good enough. They may have done well at their previous clubs albeit in inferior leagues, but they are just not going to cut it in the Championship. The lesson in all this is that cheap recruitments from overseas are rarely going to give value for money, and is therefore a false economy, no matter what the stats and data might say. We might have financial constraints, but with proven Championship players at least you know what you are getting.

Patient stabilised but home win still proves elusive - Report
at 14:59:08

Some definite positives to take away, particularly the performances of Verane and Morgan. However, the main problem remains - we have no end product! Even with Sunderland down to 10 we never really looked liked scoring. There’s only so long we can be patient with Celar, but I really feel that he should have been pulled for either Lloyd or Kolli to have a go after the red card. I’m still on Team Marti, but I don’t think of late his choice of, or lack of substitutions have been the best strategy. Just hope that JCS, Colback, Dembele and Frey will be back soon.

Morgan has his moment but home win continues to elude QPR - Report
at 22:12:03

Playing with 10 men it was always going to be a tough game. Hold on, we did actually have 11 on the pitch, I just forgot a Celar was playing. Did he even touch the ball over the whole 90 minutes? You have to wonder why he was ever signed. Well here it gets interesting. His stats show that in 250 Total Career Appearances he has scored 101 goals, with 20 Assists. Fairly impressive by any standards. Yet so far for us, we haven’t seen anything to suggest that he has the capability to even score one goal. On a brighter note - well done Kieran Morgan!

QPR slump to dead last after Pompey implosion – Report
at 18:05:13

QPR 1 Morgan Fox 2. Diabolical defending. I think we all felt that the new signings we got in on paper looked quite reasonable, but the reality is they’re just not up to standard. Madsen just doesn’t offer anything, same with Celar. Can Marti fix this, well you’re only as good a manager as the players you’ve got, so it will take some doing.
For Coventry I’d like to see Alfie Lloyd given a chance supporting Frey up top. Hopefully JCS will be back. I think Varane might be available after suspension. We’ve repeatedly described the last few games as must win, but this one we really HAVE to win.

Stuttering QPR’s home woes continue against Hull – Report
at 20:28:50

I partly think the reason for the good start was that Hull didn’t press us at this point, and we had more space and time on the ball. Very unlucky not to score though, which could have easily set us up with a couple of goals to possibly help win the game. After that there was no cohesion with the team, and just far too many mistakes in losing the ball. I often used to say that with Dykes we were effectively playing with 10 men, and now with Celar, history is repeating itself. He just doesn’t contribute anything. At least with Dykes his hold up play was often very good. Now we would appear to have only one decent striker in Frey.

Frey and Nardi drag QPR through clunky Millwall show - Report
at 12:21:08

The worrying thing is on paper this looked a decent team, but it was lacking in so many areas. Millwall pressed us fairly high, but we didn’t move the ball quickly enough, or high enough up the pitch. The one time we did, Frey scores a brilliant goal. When you watch it back the pass and movement was perfect. More of this please. Marti needs to sort the midfield out. We are not creative enough, and we are missing Chair big time. The sooner he returns the better!

Genius Eze inevitably wraps return narrative – Report
at 18:32:15

It was no surprise we didn’t win particularly when I saw the team selection. My prediction was a 3-0 loss, like the friendly we played against Crystal Palace around a year or so ago. Eze was particularly good in that match too. The fact we only lost 2-1, and gave a fairly good account of ourselves, is at least some compensation for Marti not putting out a full strength team. With a little more luck we may have just sneaked a draw with the lottery of penalties. Marti clearly would have wanted to win this match, but made the team selection for reasons only known to himself, but it’s really not rocket science to work it out. So on to Saturday with his strongest team, which if we don’t beat Millwall I’m going to be very pi**ed off!

Something approaching a cup run - Report
at 13:00:41

2 straight cup wins we must be doing something right. All 4 solid penalties as well. Luton probably were the better team over the 90 minutes, but there were some good solid performances from the boys, notably Walsh and Santos. Palace in Round 3 - already looking forward to that one.

Plymouth see red; QPR suffer déjà vu – Report
at 10:30:44

A game we really should have won. At least we’re making a lot of chances, but the usual problem of not taking them. Assuming Dykes is going, surely we’re going to get another striker in as we just cannot rely on Frey, Cellar and Kolli to give us the firepower we need. The situation with our forward line is either going to make or break our season. Having said that I thought that Frey had his best game for us, and it was a well taken goal / header. Dunne I also thought had a decent game going forward. Finally, I’m really excited by what I see with Dembele. I really see something special there. Not since Adel & Eze have we had such a naturally gifted player. This boy will go places, but hopefully not until we’ve had him for at least a while.

Boinging Baggies deliver Rangers reality check – Report
at 12:59:47

Schoolboy defending for the 3 goals is something we’ve seen so many times over the years. Prior to this game I had thought that one of our strengths is our defence, particularly as the Cook / Clarke-Salter combo is arguably one of the best in the championship. However, Paal has clearly got other things on his mind currently, and Dunne always looks more comfortable going forward than defending.

The one thing that clearly is even more of a concern is our strike force. Celar, Frey, Dykes and Kolli doesn’t exactly fill me with a lot of confidence. You wouldn’t bet on scoring many goals this season with that choice. Still, trying to be a bit more positive is that this was the first match of the season with hopefully Chair to come back (miss you Ilias), Varane looks potentially tasty, Lloyd looks like he could be useful, and hopefully more new signings to come. Marty please get us a decent striker!

Watch me rise up and leave, all the ashes you made out of me – Report
at 19:29:14

We knew this team had it in them to produce outstanding football. Sadly we only witnessed it a few times this season, but when we really needed them to step up, they finally gave us and the “mighty Leeds” a Masterclass in how to play the game! It was spectacular, stupendous and gloriously magnificent. A night that will live long in the memory, and one to look back on with relish that “I was there” to witness it.

This personally is a huge weight off my mind, as quite frankly the thought of playing in League 1 filled me with complete dread, but I know this will be the same for pretty much everyone. I would like to say a big thank you to Marti Cifuentes, for what he has achieved since he joined the club. Without Marti we definitely wouldn’t be playing Championship football again next season!

Dykes' long awaited goal secures crucial QPR win - Report
at 19:59:54

Thank goodness we have a fairly solid back four, as obviously scoring goals has been a problem all season. Going 1-0 ahead was always going to be about hanging onto a slender lead. A goal from Dykes now that’s a rarity, but a very welcome one. On the day I thought he had a decent game. As did Willock, Cook and particularly Clarke-Salter. Thinking of player of the season, at this point I’d give it to Steve Cook!

Complacent QPR caught cold by Owls – Report
at 12:49:52

An abysmal performance where we couldn’t match the intensity of the Wednesday press. It’s so frustrating when we showed real resilience in the last couple of matches, to almost none in this one. Much is debated game by game as to which striker we should start from Dykes, Armstrong and Frey. Trouble is none of them score often enough, and we’ve had to rely most of the season on goals coming from our defenders and midfielders. Therefore if they don’t score, don’t select them! For Plymouth I would go with the following in a 4-3-3;

Begovic
Dunne Cook Clarke-Salter Fox
Hayden Field Colback
Anderson Willock Chair

Maybe a bit of a gamble, but I think worth a try.

Dunne’d in the gob – Report
at 21:17:56

At the moment Jimmy struck the ball, my thought was that it was going over the bar. I think that was probably due to all the near misses we had, not just in this game, but many over the course of this season. When it actually went in, for a moment I was frozen not believing it was in the net. Then the euphoria set in. What a goal! Having now viewed it back several times, it is without doubt a thing of beauty.

Act three – Report
at 11:59:11

I did feel that our 3rd game in a week would be our undoing. The first half was quite reasonable, but after that we just ran out of steam. Could we have Senny back please. It’s fair to say that Begovic has made some very good saves this season, but I do think he is a liability behind what is a very decent back 4. With the way things are so tight at the in the relegation scrap, I think it’s highly likely that the bottom 3 will not be decided until the very last day of the season at Coventry in May.

Field's surprise double caps fitting footballing tribute to Bowles – Report
at 12:54:26

That was a fantastic match and atmosphere. Best for a long time. Who knew that Jimmy Dunne was a skilful player with a great touch. Anderson - sheer class. Although Frey missed the penalty he never stopped running and pressing all night. 19 corners- astonishing. Must say well done to the Baggies supporters who clapped for Stan particularly at 10 minutes. Field back to his very best and 2 goals. All in all a great night, and a fitting tribute for Stan. Proud to be an R!

Willock completes Rangers' Rotherham revival - Report
at 18:18:21

Rotherham were playing with 3 up front with a high press at the start of the game. I don’t think it’s wrong to go long on occasions. I mean no one is suggesting we revert to Gareth Ainsworth type tactics, but sometimes it just makes sense, and their goal could have been avoided. Well done though to the team for coming from behind to get the vital win.

I must say that under the circumstances Chair had a good game. Can’t imagine the pressure he must currently be under psychologically. I don’t think we should judge him until the full and complete facts come out regarding his case. From what has so far reported, it all sounds rather strange. Finally, Stan the Man may now be gone, but never forgotten!

Paal's late salvage papers deep fault lines - Report
at 13:53:21

Can't think of a worse quality match that I've attended for years. A real yawn fest not helped by an incompetent ref. I thought that Steve Martin was "The Man with Two Brains", but here he showed that he didn't have one at all, let alone any common sense. I suppose it was just about worth turning up for the free scarf. Perhaps it was the club's way of compensating us fans for all the crap performances we've had to endure this season.
