I'll give you the answer to the first two:

There is no Plan B, because Plan B is to keep practicing Plan A repeatedly until we eventually get it right (and then to keep practicing it until we get it right all the time, obviously).

Chair, as revealed a few days ago, is back in full training, so could be officially back "any day now" you would imagine.

As for the other questions, I would imagine M Nourry and ready to reveal all (possibly..)

Sounds like they all need to go for a Big Night Out, organised by Jimmy Dunne..

Must be frustrating for him, as however irritating his questioning style was sometimes, he definitely gave the impression of someone who who genuinely cares about the club.

I wonder how he enjoyed being subjected to Russell Martin's "Land of a Thousand Passes"?

You have to think that the instruction has been coming from Marti to get it to Dembele (and/or Chair when he's back) as quickly as possible, as worst case scenario would surely be that they both get targeted in the same way that Eze and Grealish did at this level.

If nothing else, that buys you a whole clump of cheap free kicks and the chance to shuffle everyone a few yards up the pitch, instead of suffocating poor Nardi, Cook, Clark-Salter, Dunne and paal the whole time.

Schumacher gone at Stoke
at 12:43 16 Sep 2024

..which makes you wonder how much say Walters had in the decision to get rid of Schumacher.
Surely as a recent ex-player you'd be telling the "powers at be" that they're out of their respective trees..?

Nick London gone!

On a sort of unrelated note: Was listening to Tyler and Sints for the first half of Saturday's game. as usual on QPR+. Disconnected during half time to go and potter about in the kitchen, then when I reconnected, it was the voice of the guy who does the voiceover for the Extended Highlights video (who was boring as f*ck, kept leaving long gaps in his commentary and also kept pronouncing Paul Smyth's surname as "Smythe", which was beyond irritating..)

Did anyone get any kind of explanation as to what was going on there?

I love the tone of the BBC coverage on this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c5y339pzk7xo

Basically sets out how f*cked in the head the Stoke hierarchy is without actually saying it directly..

Wow...It seems like only 5 minutes ago that 5Live were interviewing him full of praise for the job he's been doing there.

How nice does it feel to be counting us as one of the sensibly run clubs for a change? Long may it continue..

First Cinema you saw a film in?

Barnet Odeon - a venue which I suspect our very own Mr. Whittingham is also quite familiar with.
No idea what my first film would have been, but it would have been 1971, and I distinctly remember the Wurlitzer organ being raised up from the bowels of the place during the interval, with the area's closest equivalent to Liberace giving it his utmost.

No nerves from this corner of the universe, as we once again have a manager who has his feet planted firmly on the ground at the same time as having his eyes firmly set on the upper reaches of this slogfest we lovingly call the Championship.

Everything feels fully and firmly under control, which gives me a cheap excuse for linking to this little ditty once again:

Wasn't 14 Isaac Hayden's number last season..?

Have a watch of the Rangers Report on the official site. They interviewed Jimmy and talked specifically about this very point.

No spoilers from me...

That one's an interesting case, and I would say the following, largely because I can't remember if it was proven to be an act of terrorism, or influenced by mental illness.

If it was clearly the former, and there are no presenting signs of paranoid schizophrenia or any similar mental illness which would cause someone to effectively lose control over themselves, then yes, I would personally have argued for the death penalty for Adebowale.

For me, where a mental illness is clearly and obviously influencing one's stability - and most importantly one's capacity to clearly distinguish between committing a proactive act of aggression towards someone, and what one perceives to be an act of self-defence - then that person should then be committed to a psychiatric ward with support to improve their condition, where possible, or indefinitely, if not.

No, you might be surprised to hear that I'm actually a big supporter of capital punishment for cases where it is beyond any reasonable doubt that someone is guilty of cold-blooded murder and clearly aware of the consequences of their actions - Ian Brady, Fred West and Harold Shipman being three of the most blindingly obvious cases where I personally would have advocated for the death penalty.

I like the Executioner's prayer: "May God have mercy on your soul". People often confuse mercy and judgement. They are not mutually exclusive, in my understanding.

But that wasn't the point of my question, and it also does not absolve you, me or anybody else on this forum from doing whatever we can to show love, kindness and respect for everyone in our community, regardless of who they are, or who we think they might possibly be. That is the only way change happens.

OK - so you tell me you understand, whilst at the same time throwing in what happened to those poor girls and using it as justification to stay entrenched in a hardline position.

..And if the situation had been the other way around, with Muslim girls having been the victims, and the perpetrators having been white British guys, how would you have responded then..? Or are you asserting that this would somehow never happen (as equally a dangerous assumption to make, as asserting that it is somehow "bound to happen" the other way round, I would suggest..)

So if you believe you see the problems so clearly, has it never occurred to you to proactively become part of the solution instead?

Have you tried actively going in to the Muslim community where you live and befriending, for example, a couple of similar age to yourself and your partner, who maybe have kids of similar age to yourself and have exactly the same hopes, aspirations and fears for the future as you do?

if you're looking for integration not alienation, the one person who you have power over to change is yourself. I think you'd be surprised by what you could achieve, if you tried..

I'm not denying your. or anyone elses's right to have genuine concerns in relation to the spread of Islamic extremism, but I would respectfully suggest that you're going slightly overboard in terms of the impact you seem to be allowing it to have on your everyday wellbeing.

What you seem to be forgetting is that the vast majority of Muslims who live in this country - particularly the British-born contingent - are ordinary peaceful folk who are as abhorred and distressed by what they've seen happening around them over the last few weeks as everyone else is. I wouldn't underestimate the power of the moderate majority to isolate the extremists and to ensure that they are identified and treated as such, in the exact same way that the majority of us feel that the EDL should be rounded up and despatched to an island in the middle of nowhere with no hope of return so that they can live out their pathetic Lord of The Flies fantasy amongst themselves, whilst the rest of us with at least half a brain and a modicum of decency go about doing our best to leave in peace and harmony with each other, regardless of their skin colur, ethnic origin, preferred religion and sexual orientation.

You say that your "church is full of Muslims pretending to convert to support their asylum appeal". How do you know this is true? Have you taken the time to communicate with them and find out what's really going on with them?

Maybe your church has convicted them to genuinely convert to Christianity. It has been known to happen..

Should any of them openly admit to you that this is true (which sound somewhat unlikely), then you have a confession of fraud which you can submit to the necessary authorities.

"It takes 1 rejection and who knows what happens". Isn't that a tad melodramatic?

"Do you think I should keep taking my children to Church on Sunday?", I would suggest that depends on how much you trust your church leadership to be in charge of what goes on inside your church. If they're decent leaders, I'm sure that they're well aware of any ongoing issues and are taking the requisite steps to ensure that everyone can worship and commune in peace and love.

"Last night I'm being sent videos of "Muslim Defence League" rioters marching around Sheffield with weapons looking for people to attack, while the media is busy pretending everything is fine and normal. How am I supposed to ignore it?" - So in your view, the Muslim Defence League are obviously more dangerous than the far right mostly white British EDL and sympathisers, who pulled a family of innocent bystanders in Hull out of their car and chased them down their street uttering all manner of threats, simply becuase they didn't like the colour of their skin?

...And you wonder why you're getting trolled..
