Favourite crisps on 09:50 - Jul 4 with 3352 views | SuddenLad | Burts, Firecracker Lobster take some beating (Made in Devon), as do Worcester Sauce Wheat Crunchies. Back in 1980's during the miners' strike, a brand of crisps (Hedgehog, I think) produced a range of crisps named after the 'personalities of the day'. Flavours included (amongst others) Arthur Scargill and Maggie Thatcher. They also included a 'Hedgehog Flavour' and some numpty took them to court because they were 'not as advertised'. The company were forced to withdraw the range because the packets didn't contain any of the said 'flavours' !! Actually, they tasted OK. http://www.doyouremember.co.uk/memory.php?memID=4286

I'm sorry. I'll have to step in here, the original question was 'what is your favourite crisps', and as col rightly has pointed out half of the chosen food are corn or cereal based snacks. When the like of Scampi Fries get mentioned and the poster then posts the picture that clearly says 'cereal snack', it makes a bit of a mockery of the thread. You wouldn't say Alan Reeves if you were asked 'who is your favourite striker?' This is the equivalent of putting Frazzles as your favourite crisp. Hold your hands in shame. I'd expect better from this website, and some of the answers are offensive to the proper crisp eating fraternity. Think before you post, is this a corn or cereal based snack? If it is then start a FRED of your own, your sort aren't welcome here.

Excuse me can I draw your attention to noun point three http://www.thefreedictionary.com/crisp A potato chip, a POTATO chip Not a wheat chip, a potato one. Wheatos are not a crisp, thus this is not a relevant crisp choice. If this is not the case then I like crunchy nut corn flakes. They are crisp - unless you let them go soggy

That's all well and good but what constitutes a 'snack'? Clarity is needed before we go nailing our snack favourites to the mast. The FRED is labelled 'crisps'. This implies a potato based bagged hunger delaying delight. Where as 'snack' can open up a whole different market. Is a mini pork pie a snack? pepperami? Pre packed sandwiches from Asda? You see my quandary downunder? I just want clarity. Is that too much? [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Favourite crisps on 00:36 - Jul 5 with 3016 views | dribdrab | Oh dear, we seem to have fallen into disrepair. There is a clear disparity between maize based snacks and potato crisps. For my money on the maize based snack route there are a few champions: Scampi Fries Roast Beef Monster Munch Bacon Frazzles When it comes to crisps Seabrooks win every time with good 'no nonsense' crisps which taste good. There is, though, a matter that has been puzzling me for years: Why do Walkers package their Cheese and Onion crisps in blue packets when the internationally accepted convention is that Cheese and Onion should be green whilst Salt and Vinegar is blue? I understand that they have a strong brand but they are almost asserting that black is white with their unconventional approach to colour/flavour schemes. Bollocks to their sunflower oil, somebody needs to explain this debacle!
