Barton says we've signed Remy 19:01 - Jan 14 with 13814 viewsbaz_qpr

Watching Patriots. Just heard from a magician that Loic Remy has signed for QPR. Not sure what happened at Newcastle probably Llambas again!

Gift of the gab from Harry Redknapp perhaps? Thought it was done and dusted to Newcastle. Something must of gone amiss. Great news 4 #QPR

2 extremely well known QPR supporting brothers died of that within a year of each other - I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

You might consider an edit?

Ahhh, so my early suggestion that we're being used to stoke the Newcastle offer up a bit might not be far from the truth.

Possibly, however 5Live have confused themselves as Newcastle had a bid accepted 3 days ago.

Good article If we are getting them

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/early-doors/first-attracted-millionaires-qpr
"A lot of agents made money out of them [the club's owners]. I fined a player last week and he was earning more than any player earned at Tottenham. You shouldn't be paying massive wages when you've got a stadium that holds 18,000 people. Newcastle holds 52,000 and most of their players will be nowhere near some of the wages some of the players are earning here."
You said it, Harry.
In theory, Remy and M’Vila could do for QPR what compatriot Christophe Dugarry once did for Birmingham and arrive at a struggling team to inspire an upturn in form. But if they don’t, the millionaire Tony Fernandes might feel like he has had his pants pulled down again.

I guess the calculation is this, we sign these players on decent wages, if we go down they are young enough and sell-able and have relegation clauses so we would recoup say 65%of the outlay. If we stay up, the money next year is so high that they are easily affordable. I pretty much think that is how we are doing our business.

I doubt whether the Mbia and Diakete's are costing us that much. Granero is also easily moved on come the summer. Cisse wants to go back to france so that one is wrapped up. I'd be suprised if we could not get some Russian / MLS / Turkish / Chinese club to take Boswinga. Cesar could go to Utd. Which leaves us with the Green's and Zamora's etc. I am not that concerned we will not be able to shift some of these on

if we have signed Remy (for reported £8m) ahead of Newcastle, clearly as a club we're frigging pathetic. No doubt we've offered some silly wages and when we go down how much of that £8m will we get back once he wants to move on? We'll be in a position where Remy wants to move, doesn't want to play for us in a lower league and we're still paying some silly wages.

On the flip side he may score all the goals in the world and somehow manage to keep us up.

However, I know what I think it more likely to happen.

We're risking the long-term future of our club here (again), and the fans will be left to pick up the pieces.

So if Newcastle sign Remy they are a club who do excellent scouting and pick up the best players in France

If we sign him we are pathetic

I'm concerned with how much we are paying in wages etc but the tv deal next year plus the new overseas deal which gets signed this week means it's vital we stay up and those deals will be ho we pay for this

With all due respect to you, Paul, it's always the fans who pick up the pieces. Always.

When the owners screw it up, they'll pay either nothing or 10p in the pound to all the companies and clubs they've screwed, we'll go into administration, and the fans will have to start it all up again.

I hope Fernandes and Co. are genuine, and I hope their gamble pays off, but it is a gamble and if they could hardly jeopradise our future more if they brought the deeds of the ground to a late-night back-room poker game in Soho.

would it be any less of a gamble to do nothing, stick with what we have and hope to come back up next season? Either way is risking the clubs future, whilst you are in the league you may as well try and stay in it.

I see your point to, Dave, I honestly do. What side of the stick or twist debate any of us come down on is purely a matter of personal judgement.

My own personal feeling is that we're already too far down a road of unsustainable spending and that, while we've a chance of staying up, if I were on the Board I'd vote against any major additional spending. Not that any of us surely believed that Redknapp was going to come here and not spend.

I kind of agree and would have liked to see us be sensible this window but you don't hire Redknapp on a 3million a year deal if you are going to be looking in the championship for players.

We are too far down the road of spending big, my hope is lessons will be learned if we stay up and the club act sensibly this summer, i don't think that will be the case though.

Disagree a bit Dave. Doesn't matter how much a manager is paid they should be getting players from all over on merit, not just because they cost a firtune. Also they should take into account where the club will be in future seasons and where the player will be career-wise in the future.

Hughes didn't do this and Harry shouldn't think that he can compete with bigger clubs wages. We should impose a structure and stick to it no matter what.

What I can't understand is why we're not looking at using the loan market? Obviously the players in that aren't going to be as good as the likes of these we're talking about here, but they also don't have the inherent risk of lumbering us with totally unsustainable wages in the Championship..

Shit but local

We've no evidence that TF etc are funding all this from debt, the only way they would 'get away' with only paying a % of the costs.

As I posted earlier in the week, they are shelling out £4M a month in wages - £s they won't see again.

The QPR project is built on growth, it's Fernandes method, there can be no structure that avoids losing profit at this stage in the game.
The only question is can the Board protect their investment and continue with the 'project' without further investment? Probably not, all business plans finally face the process of having to invest because of bad performance or under performance.
The question was always was Hughes buying right, not was it good that QPR where spending.
There's different options and Harry Redknapps performance so far is telling the board we should spend a further £20 to £25 million on getting better players. They have to rely on Harry's opinion, they have to pay the asking price.
Can't see why everybody is hyper ventilating, what did we all expect?
Crack on Harry, spend the dosh quickly before they change their minds, and spend it well. I see a new spine in the side, Cesar, Olsson, Mbia, M'villa and Remy....exciting! Hope it happens! COYR'sss

I think we should adopt a policy of a transfer Unilateral Disarmament, only retain players on thirty bob a week,in the sure and safe knowledge that everybody else will follow suit. Then if that fails we can bask in the golden glow of Righteousness as we sink through the divisions like a hot brick through a yard of butter.

Worth mentioning there is a third EPL team involved in this bidding war, as the Marseilles president has said a few times in the past few days. That club is likely to be Arsenal, if earlier reports are to be believed, so I'm relatively convinced this story still has some way to run. I don't think we're favourites to sign Remy yet.

Did a Lion tell him that?

OLD POST ALERT! THIS IS NOT NEW NEWS. AND YES I'M SHOUTING!

Interesting to see a few posters from way back when which is actually why I've made this post and specifically replying to "markqpr".

He had been posting on here for almost 10 years right up until about April of this year. And then he dissapeared and he was also in a WhatsApp group and dissapeared from that so I'm just wondering if anybody on here knows him personally?

It would just be good to hear that he's ok and it's nothing worse than a new phone number and the wife not letting him talk to his virtual friends on that weird football blogforumsite he used to visit.

Cheers for your ears and be good to hear something positive...

I've got the Power.
