3 are at Home - I hope thats a positive after yesterdays performance a corner been turned.

What are everyones feelings on the first season back in the Rochdale division and can we now kick on and challenge for promotion or do you feel we could slip back into mid table win one draw one lose one syndrome??
For me I have seen nothing to fear. If the player want it and as supporters we can get back to supporting i think the playoffs is now a reasonable target.
What are everybodys else feelings / thoughts on where we will finish up this year?.

Definitely should not be afraid of what we have seen so far.
Comparisons to our promotion season are interesting - on the equivalent Saturday we had played 16 games and got 29 points. Of course we then went on our run through to the end of March losing only 2 games and drawing only 3. I think this year is much more open and consistency and bouncing back from the odd defeat will be the key again. | | | |

If your undefeated prediction is correct i suspect that would be enough to put us in the top 3!!.
I am hopeful for 10 point but 9 or even 8 points could be a good return from a difficult looking group of games.

On the opening day of the season my only worry was how long it would take an almost complete new squad of players would gell together...
From the first day of the season until new yr there was to be some high and lows and a few dire performances...
Where the team are in the league just shows how far the squad as developed and a few loan additions will see dale push on and into an automatic promotion place...
So yes im happy..

I would say Gillingham are standing out.
As for us, I'd say we're only a player or two away from a crack at automatic promotion.
I'd also say we're only an injury or two away from lower mid-table. |  |

Southend are a proper bogey team for Dale, would be happy with a point there.
York at home will be tricky but hopefully 3 points for us.
Same with Exeter.
Aldershot we should win.
Cheltenham a really big test for us as they are doing well at the moment.
This seasons has had its ups and downs so far but if you ask me the positives far outweigh the negatives and we look like a decent team now. My prediction is Play offs and a trip to Wembley for us

That team had a superb december with 5 wins and a draw which sent us top and well clear of our rivals. To have so far only lost 4 games so far this season is fantastic (better than our promotion season). Yes its not been great at times at Spotland but last saturdays win and performance should hopefully give us more confidence. A win at Southend and we'll all start believing, as its never been a happy hunting ground in the past. |  |

I still feel that, if we're missing certain key players, the team cannot cope and the squad would certainly benefit from a few more bodies in January. I'm not sure if there's the budget for it, though.
Ever the pessimist, I never look forward to a trip to Southend. Even in the days that I went to almost every away game, this would be one I'd skip. I do indeed remember seeing us go 3-0 up there, only to throw away the lead and draw 3-3.
There has been far worse results than that down there, too.
Never seems to be a happy hunting ground. And that Assombalonga they've got looks a good player.
But we've been to Gillingham and come away with three points, so who knows?

The fact that we are where we are without really playing as well as we know we can on a regular basis is very heartening. If we can put a consistent run of form together we could consolidate a top 7 place.
Looking at how other relegated teams have done in recent years, Coleman deserves a lot of credit IMO for the position we are currently in. I still think that on paper we have no right to court a top 3 finish when looking at other teams in our league, but as long as we have a bloody good try I will be well happy. |  | | |

Good post, and it brings a lot of perspective. That isn't to say we're all expecting now to reach the highs of that season, but to see where we are now compared to what we expected at the start of the season is pretty impressive. |  | | |
