I have an IT company, we have less problems with Netgear than any others. If it's just for general home / small office use they are great.

Broadbandbuyer have the one below which is a good price & you get a free copy of Kaspersky with it, which you put on ebay & get £12 - £15 for it

A Netgear should be fine for you. That model I put a link too is for a BT line i.e. not virgin / Cable.

That's for cable connections. Not used that specific model but have used previous Netgear cable routers & they have been fine so would expect that one to be.

They will all work with Windows 7.

For ADSL I'd get;

http://www.cclonline.com/product/30197/DGN1000-100UKS/ADSL-Routers/Netgear-DGN10

and for Cable I'd get;

http://www.cclonline.com/product/30680/WNR1000-100UKS/Cable-Routers/Netgear-WNR1

In a previous job I managed about 200 ADSL connections for various people and we used earlier Netgear models and they're solid as hell. Plus you get 802.11n support (think iPhone and some Android phones support this as well as most modern laptops and desktop PC Wi-Fi adapters)

I use the netgear DGN1000, installed easy, no problems with it and getting 17+Mbps download speeds.
