Lower Loft Renewals... 14:17 - May 22 with 30797 viewsSouthend_Rss

My mate sits in NL and has had an email saying that he has to move unless he has a child with him next year. It's to do with making it a new family stand.. Anyone else sit in the lower loft and had an email from the club?? That's gonna cause problems trying to relocate surely..

As ever on such occasions, there's a degree of "I'm alright Jack" about some of the replies here. If it doesn't affect you then great, but I don't see why you'd come on here digging out people it does. If they kicked me out of my seat I'd be mortified - the LFW lot I sit with at away games all sit together in Ellerslie Road but I won't move because I sat in my seat with Stuart for years and it means something to still sit there. There will be loads of stories like that.

On the practical side of it I don't see how we can afford to make such a big section of the ground available only to those with under 8s - not just kids, under 8s. It's going to result in lots of people getting season tickets for kids with no intention of them ever turning up. It's also going to result in many empty seats behind the goal for games that are apparently sold out. And what about midweek games that finish at 10pm?

It's a worthy idea but they've gone overboard. It should be under 16s and it should only be half the tier IMO.

Well said.
I'm alright as it goes but I will now lose about 20 people around me who I've known for over 10 years, some I don't even know their names and one bloke who sits about 3 seats away who causes me to look at his name on his seat before addressing him !! They were worthy of sitting in them seats when we were two leagues lower than we are now, but ' thank you very much for your loyalty over the years but you can no do one' seems to be the message.
And like you've mentioned, what happens if the child in our party of 3 doesn't go ? (i.e. night games as its too late with school the next day ). I will lay money that there will be swathes of empty seats next season for most games.
One mate is even willing to pay more money for his seat in KL block.

My view is not the best one BUT I have a leg problem, 1) they are too long and 2) I can't bend my knee for long periods and have to have it stretched out. Sitting in front row is ideal as so far it's the most leg room I have had and I've sat in most places, apart from the Paddocks where you not only get rained on but can't see because of the sun! Having an end seat wouldn't resolve it as I'd have to sit sideways and end up with a backache.

This time last season I paid £50 more than I will this season for a ST. The thread about this generous offer gets less posts than one asking people to move and offering you an upgrade.

I go to QPR to watch QPR, I go to support my team. I couldnt give a feck where I sit, it makes no difference. How some of you can criticise TF who has done so much for this club is beyond me. He bought the club from complete ts$$ers, pumped in millions on new players, has listened to concerns about the kit and badge, regularly communicates with fans, has put a long term strategy in place regarding a scouting network and will build a state of the art training facility. Next he plans to build a brand new stadium with the ambition to fill it every week. In order to do this the club has to attract new fans and more families. Step 1 is he creates a family friendly area at LR, in order to do this he HAS to move some fans. The club understand that this is hard for some to do so offer to upgrade people to Gold.

Seriously, some of you need to grow the feck up. You are being pathetic. Moving seat is not the end of the world. Look at what you have been given and what the club is doing and then think whether you are being a bit selfish. If the LL is empty a couple of times a year than thats not your problem, its down to the club to fix. You are being asked to move for the good of the club and for its long term future.

Sometimes change is good. Try it, you may like it.

You big girl.....ohhh, I cant change my seat....I've been here since the war. YAWN!

What happens when we get a new stadium? Are you going to demand that you still sit in the Loft and watch it on a big screen?

As I said yesterday, you DONT sit in the LL so how the hell can you comment, plus have you not noticed that you in minority of 1 on this.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

I don't think all the Lower should be the family stand. Better to split it depending on how many family tickets are sold and give us the lower school every game, or at least league game if that breaks cup rules.

Saying that, I don't understand why anyone would want to sit in a family area if they don't have kids. Bit fcking odd IMO.

they could also have reached a compromise by giving the end blocks in the lower loft as a family area , I sit in kl and everybody around me have been there for as long as i can remember some familys some older groups , theres gonna be a hell of lot of new faces next season thats for sure.

How can I comment? Its a message board, everyone has the right to their own opinion. I think I am right in this instance, but then I always do.

Classic.

Yes, I have been attending for one season only. Even though I have been posting on this site or previous related sites for 12 years!

Where exactly did I say you've only been attending for one season ?? I said people who have been going longer than you. BY which I mean people who have renewed their ST year on year and like Sharpy said not just PL days.Which going by your posts means a hell of a lot of people. And posting on a mb for 12 years means jack. But your self righteousness knows no bounds.

A family area is good for the club - a family "stand" our small ground is a bit wrong imho - what they are doing is not a good way of going about a family area in a lot of peoples opinions (not just people who sit in LL).

Lets turn it the other way - if the LL is an exclusive family only stand - should all families not be allowed in the ground anywhere but the Lower Loft and any family with ST's moved down to the Lower Loft before the new season starts?

If they did this with no notice and no choice, but a free upgrade offer would people be completely happy?

I am happy to take my two daughters to LR and have done from their age of six and my son and daughter before that from about the same age. I explained to them that they will hear rude words (sometimes from me) and that I would not allow them to repeat them, but at their appropriate age I would explain what they meant. This included explaining the body part expletives from their first visit.

As far as I am concerned its part of their education as it was for me. Some people go OTT with comments and seem to show real hatred for players or officials in a way that IMHO is far too extreme and they need to recognise these people for what they are. All types of people are encountered at football matches as in life and I don't think children should be protected from it now any more than they were in the past. I appreciate some people have a different opinion, but I'm not sure there are that many of that view that regularly attend football.

My 10 year old Daughter and I have season tickets in NL,and I can therefore see both sides of the case.
In my opinion, the club are making a big mistake if they enforce this policy. What is to stop everybody who is asked to move, from getting the birth certificate of a Niece,Nephew,or even a friends kid and getting a free seat to use next season as a coat stand?
How much money can the club make out of an empty seat?

As for other people saying that the paddocks can't be used as a family area due to the weather.Have they ever tried to sit in the first 6 rows of the Loft?

If they used the end blocks of the Loft as a family area,at least the fans moved could stay sitting in the same stand.

You can't renew and add a new junior ST at the same time, you could wait and buy those two after the renewal for full price I guess.

if you don't care where you sit you won't mind me coming to sit in your seat next season after we've been moved. You'll find another one, doesn't matter where, just support the team

No one is having a go at Tony Fernandes but we are allowed to question decsions which impact on so many people.

Dave, unlike some of the other responses I find yours genuine and well thought through. If you genuinely would like my seat, I would be happy to move. I actually prefer the upper loft but moved to SAR when the Gold, Silver, Bronze thing started.

Hardly. I've already said that I only think 3 blocks should be the family section. It does make me laugh that some grown men are attached to a piece of plastic that they sit on 19 times a year. Bizarre.

I want to take my lad when he turns 4, the only part of the ground I would take him to is a family section. All teh club is doing is taking us back to being a family friendly club and ensuring the next generation doesnt end up at Fulham.

Well there should be plenty of seats to choose from for you , when it's half empty on a freezing cold January school night when most under 12' s don't go !!

There may be more good reasons than bad for this move by the owners. It may even be unavoidable. But to do this without consulting, announced that you've consulted, or even pre-warn fans is poor management. A rare slip, but a serious one.

Ive just had a reply from an e-mail I sent to the box office re the lower loft seating. They have said that NO NEW Junior applications are being accepted right now, only renewals. So if I want to keep my seat and add 1 for my daughter the chances are I wont get the one next to me for her and I will be shifted somewhere else along with an extra free seat. Im really struggling to the see the point with all this! This is just going to cause agro for everyone involved.

For those who have argued for the family stand idea, I appreciatte the under 8's for free and trying to create a section suitable for families to encourage new fans or others to come back. I also believe in what Tony and the board are doing and cant thank them enough for their efforts so far, but I just dont see this particular idea being a good one. People say 'a seats a seat' it isnt is it. I like my seat because its in the block of 4 seats, right next to a small wall so nobody cuts in front of me, its right next to the best bar in the ground (Blue and White Bar), a great view, enjoy talking to people around me and its where I want to be. I did 4 years in the X Block - never again thank you...
