Apologies if this is a spack but I can’t see another one anywhere. In reference to the title I thought that Festy Ebosele looked by far the best of the Irish team that played England recently but I’d never heard of him. On looking him up found that he’s at Watford “on loan from Udinese.” A very hopeful 1-0 to the R’s.

Start with the positives. Was worried about Morgan and Field against Sissoko and Louza but they more than matched them. Celar did the ugly stuff better than he has against some big, decent defenders. Unlucky with the late chance and forced a great save before Morrison’s howler. Smyth and Saito both excellent at helping their full-backs and giving an outlet going forwards. Nardi great again. Morrison looking increasingly solid. Varane had a couple of brain farts but I like him a lot.
I’ve seen people on the Twitter praising Madsen. All about opinions but I just don’t see it. Set pieces were dire and just can’t impose himself on the game. I’ve never taken to Paal and appreciate he’s coming back from injury but thought he was poor. Then again the replacement was Fox and I like the bloke but he can barely move. Putting him against Baah was risky and we got away with it.
Most importantly it’s a team with some bollocks finally. A team that works for each other. Not the most talented bunch especially with the injuries but one you aren’t offended by traipsing round the country.
Madsen is marmite those who dont like him will call out his inability to tackle or head a ball, the early yellow card (though worse was let go) the miss in the box or the set pieces that were too short or did not come off. Those that are perhaps a little more even handed will point out the numerous times he played a quick first time ball that got us behind Watford or played in Smyth or Saito. That he has an ability to play the ball before the one that leads to the chance. That he pressed much better today. That his free kick shot looked like it was going in without the deflection of the wall, and we had a number of corners that caused chaos (and he is what 4th choice corner taker).
He did ok a 6/10

"Madsen is marmite....He did ok a 6/10"
This reminds me of my son, who says the thing about marmite is that he can take it or leave it alone.

Today capped off a really good week for us and it was easily our best performance of the 3 games. Really unlucky not to get all 3 points when I would’ve bitten your arm off for a draw before KO. Fans were immense at Cardiff and again today. Big test coming up v Canaries. COYRsssssss!
Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Have to say Well Done Rangers for yesterday. To be slightly disappointed at drawing away at a (probable) top six team suggests to me that this team does actually belong in this division, not the one(s) below.
And on reflection, I don't see the Madsen, Morrison and Ashby chances as missed sitters. The real 'missed sitters' have been not beating Plymouth, Portsmouth or Hull at home....

Your summation is probably fair, but none of that makes his performance yesterday a 6.
Either way, none of the good points from yesterday outweigh the negatives. He's still not a Championship midfielder.

“ Anything other than an absolute hammering will be a complete and utter embarrassment, these lot have been stinking up the league for years now and we should really be doing our bit to send those lot back to where they once came from.
Watford 6-0 QPR
Tough afternoon for the shoutbox/mattress soakers.”
It just makes me happy how disappointed this guy must have been 😄

They’re just a generally horrendous fan base with no grip on reality when it comes to their size / status. Was a tiny club when I was growing up.

He might prove to be. I’m still in the same camp as you. Others, more on the social media than here, have said he was good. Still seems to get better reviews from those watching on tv versus at the game which isn’t a criticism but you just get a different (not necessarily better) perspective being there.
As a ‘10’ I still think it needs a lot more than a few not overly difficult passes out wide. Had some great chances from dead balls wasted. Obviously the missed chance first half. He pressed better but I would still say that’s weak and we’re where we were with Dozzell where any performance that isn’t a stinker gets huge praise.
But he’s part of the team at least for now and I don’t think he’s not trying. Hoping it clicks as it has for Celar to a small extent. Not honestly expecting that to happen in this case but at least he’s getting better from the lowest of starting points.

The important thing now is to get at least four points from the two home games this week. Our home form must improve if we're going to climb the table.

What I saw of Madsen yesterday was better than, say, against Middlesbrough, where he was a passenger. I thought he was trying to make more intelligent runs and was more available to receive the ball, especially higher up the field. He wasn't our best player, but he was much better than previously. Green shoots and all that.

Totally agree.
Of our next 8 league games, up to the FA Cup weekend, 5 are at home. We have to improve by winning some of those. Our points' haul away from home has us in the top 10. No prizes for guessing where our lamentable 5 points out of a possible 27 at home places us.

The "we hate QPR " chant was laughable
I didn't hear a chant from them all day. Given their outstanding home record the place was absolutely dead. Did enjoy the little Elton John sing along though. Imagine sitting down and writing a song like that.
