Russell Martin court case settled on 13:56 - Nov 17 by ReslovenSwan1 | I object to the narrative that Levien and co are to blame for everything. There was no " firesale". Underperforming players of huge wages were sold for a profit and wages removed Potter was given 3-4 real prospects from the academy Fer VDH the keeper Olsen and a respectable £7m. Fans do not understand recruitment people job is to see potential and select players with a long term development future. Potter bought dead wood to the club and I expected a lot better from him with his Euro experience. Recruitment people have to be several levels above general fans who say "he was no good for us at the time" . Apologists for poor work. It is tiring for me to daily trash lazy narratives. So we made big profits on players and gave Potter 7 million, what were the profits, walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-city-transfer-news-signings-15009411 The nearest I can guesstimate is we sold for 49 million but that's going by transfermarket.com. If that's right then the owners kept 42 million, what a massive mistake that was. Talking of apologists for poor work, look at the poor work done ever since Levein and Kaplan took over, they were taking us down the table which is why Coleman (who it seems is made of better stuff than I realised) stepped up and ousted them. You constantly defend Levein and Kaplan when their record is really poor, you are in fact the biggest apologist on here. Tiring eh, nowhere near as boring it is for the rest of us to read your tired , repetitive old dross all the time.

He’d spent the previous three seasons at Barnsley, Scunthorpe, Wigan and Shrewsbury, without making much impact. Had his potential been obvious, he would have stayed at Newcastle or gone to a bigger club than either ourselves or Peterborough. Potters recruitment was terrible. Nobody is disagreeing with you there. He was much more successful developing the young players we already had. |
Yes Gyorkeres was even in the building and Swansea recruitment preferred Cullen. The idea that these people could identify Toney is laughable. Levien s man Scott forced Cooper to accept Gyorkeres but he whinged he wanted Keinan Davis. Swansea got Watson in and the major n complaint from the beurk from the "Alliance" was he once sat next to someone who once did the Ayatollah.

Russell Martin court case settled on 19:20 - Nov 17 by ReslovenSwan1 | Levien and co made bad decisions without a doubt. However this forum and others are xenophobic in their placing of blames. If the club gave Potter carte blanche he would have wasted even more. Potter Cooper and Martin all broke their contracts when the waters got choppy as a result of their own lack of foresight. I am not a football recruitment expert but Toney or Declan John s looks like a pretty obvious call to me even then. I saw Declan John play for Wales u21. He could not tackle. He still cannot. Yankee bashing is the solution of all ills. I hope Coleman will be shown some love despite being a foreigner and not the wonderful Mr Birch. |
You’re hopping from point to point. One minute it’s Steve Cooper, the next it’s Ivan Toney, now it’s xenophobia. Americans will own the vast majority of the shares going forward. If they run us well, they well get a huge amount of support. If they run us as badly as their predecessors, ‘Yank’ is the least they can expect. Just ask Tony Petty, Mike Lewis and Doug Sharpe what we used to call them.

It was a hell of a lot more than we could afford to spend.

Giving Ayew a long contract on three or four times the average PL wage when we were odds on to be relegated will do that to a club.

No the club roughly broke even. This means there was no " firesale" . Firesale is an emotional word and misleading. That is why people live using it.. There was big profit on Fabianski and Mawson. The club kept the money not the owners because they are not thieves. It is quite simple really.. Big money was paid to Borja and Ayew and the other PL players. £7m was a modest sum admittedly. I am not a scout and cannot tell you who the club could have bought for that money but I personally would have done better that the " four non negotiables" McCaully signed. I use Toney as an example. Robert Dicky was another available for pennies. Potter should have had Intel on hundreds of Scandinavians.

Once again, you’re failing to understand that selling a player for more than you paid for him does not mean you haven’t sold him below market value. If we sell Franco and Key for £5m in the summer, that will be more than we paid for them and less than they are currently worth. We had about £50m for what was virtually a premier league starting eleven.

Hmm, I missed that, fair do's he is a comedian. Calling it Xenophobia to blame Levein and Kaplan when we were (mostly I think) very happy that Coleman has ousted them. This from the person who is always slagging off any involvement by anybody English, he should know what xenophbia is, and what it isn't Those pesky "English" lawyers eh. Take a look in the mirro Res, see if you like what you see. Yanks is a derogatory word much loved on here. Wrexham do not call their number two owner "a Yank". The "Yanks" are to blame for everything and Englishman Birch was great. ( No wonder he left eh? Who could work with those guys?) The fans had their own 21% holding. While " the Yanks" were ploughing money into the club the fans were pumping money into London smooth talking ambulance chasers a whopping £400k plus. They should thank their lucky stars a Mr Silverstein baled them out. Some on her still profess the Trust should have pressed on. A gentleman from London told them they would win in court and it would only cost them £11m of the owners money. He did have a lovely suit. [Post edited 17 Nov 20:49]

No there wasn't. I'm not voicing an opinion based on what was reported at the time like most people. I know what kind of sh*t the club was in and just how deep. I know how close we came to being officially considered no longer a going concern and that it took a year or two (ultimately the sale of Rodon) to stave the likelihood off completely. How I know I'm not prepared to say. It was extremely risky financial management to allow Potter to spend anything, never mind £7m.

As I’ve explained to you before, they will if Hollywood lose interest and let them revert to their natural level. Coleman, Morse and co won’t get any of it if they take the club forward. To imply that Swansea fans are xenophobic and Wrexham fans aren’t, is poor even by your imaginative standards. [Post edited 18 Nov 9:40]

Swansea fans use derogatory words for the owners and sing racial slurs against my people. I have never been to the Sok Cae Ras. Coleman is giving it a good go with brash aggressive stance while the fans owners are doing their knitting.. Double standard writ large

Perhaps you have that famous Swansea negative mindset the poet mentioned all those years ago. They have not ruined the club. You spend too much time wallowing in negative thoughts reading the comments of stone cold Welsh losers. The best Swansea supporters were Huw Jenkins and Martin Morgan. They set no limits on ambition. The club is in a reasonably good place with a new dynamic Chief. The fans group is frankly pathetic concentrating on £5000 PR stunts like the mural. The football club is in the care of Levien and Kaplan I backed them. I am not looking for anyone to blame. Swansea are in a position which is general above average for the clubs history . Around the 30th in the English system with a challenging financial situation I back Coleman. Do you?

I assume you are a "newer/start supported the club in the Premier League era" fan which is fine. I would ask you to look into our history and perhaps show a bit more respect to the Trust. Many of us were at the Patti Pavillion with the Trust in the dark days of Tony Petty. No Trust = no club now. Think about it for a moment.
