Is this season written off already? 17:33 - Nov 9 with 8996 viewsJevlar

Knee-jerk thread. Almost definitely...

Mentally, to deal with attending more matches (ST - F Block) I've already got us as relegated.

I can't muster up the hope to start believing Celar is suddenly going to go on a scoring run, Madsen making a crunching tackle or JCS playing the remaining games of the season.

I obviously want to be wrong, I like Marti, and will be at all home games supporting the Rs as always but anyone else adopting this admittedly pessimistic view. I know there are plenty of points to play for, and to lose 6 in a row (which we're close to) is very QPR.

Keen to read the views of other LFW and QPR folks on how to approach the rest of the season!

Tin foil hat firmly on!

It feels like a relegation season but it did last year and turned around and the year before and the Austin/Johansen season as well

1 win changes everything and so many games left so although I do think it looks bleak we should learn from the past this is far from over

Somebody said something last week that resonated.

The 2000/01 relegation and the 2012/13 relegations were largely unexpected and came after strong ends to the previous year and summers of pretty flowing optimism.

This is starting to feel like that to me. How could I have been so stupid, Christer Warren for goodness sake etc etc.

yeah I do think this season looks like those where it starts badly and just drifts away and I am a lot more worried about this season than I have been the last few years but my crumb of comfort is that this league is rubbish and it doesn't take much to get out of trouble

It’s just as well…because we haven’t got much.

I actually think a few of our signings are decent: Nardi, Varane, Dembele and Saito would all look like good players in a good Championship team.

However, we only have one left back (who we tried to sell and is now injured) and only two centre forwards (neither very good, one now injured), fewer than last season when we struggled for goals. I actually think the sale of the much-criticised Dykes was the dumbest move of all, considering we didn't replace him.

I also think players like Smyth are League 1 standard so you're going to get League 1 football if you keep playing them. He had a chance to put in a decent cross in the second half. A quality player puts in a decent cross and we equalise. Smyth does what he always does...I can't fault his effort but sadly he's just not good enough.

If we get a few of the injured players back soon and can get a few wins this year, then we've still got a chance. But we need a good window and God knows what they've got up their sleeve...

I like saito but he gets out muscled too much

Just gone to look on Betfair what our odds are to be relegated. It's still odds against (just)! Fill yer boots if you think we are definitely down....

I don’t think we’re quite done yet and I’ll go to the Stoke game hoping that even with our depleted side we can somehow manage to conjure up a win.
But if we don’t manage to get a couple of wins in the seven games between now and Christmas I think the gap to safety may well have stretched to twelve points or more and from that position it’s hard to believe that we won’t be effectively if not mathematically relegated.

The next seven games look season defining:

Stoke (h)
Cardiff (a)
Watford (a)
Norwich (h)
Oxford (h)
Bristol C (a)
Preston (h)

Continue the post-Luton run and they'll ditch Marti by Christmas. Win two or three of the home games (I know, I know!), throw in a few draws and suddenly all is not lost. Get enough players back fit and perhaps even doing a Millwall-like run of winning a block of games is not impossible. But I do think it's the season right there. I'm more inclined to think it'll fall flat, but you never know with this lot. Wish we had a couple more strikers.

Bare minimum we need to win those home games (ho ho) and get something at Cardiff too.

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

It's still not inconceivable we will finish above Portsmouth & Plymouth, so then it's catching one of

Preston
Cardiff
Oxford

When looked at like that
