Yes i think youre right. We are probably going to vet a back to basics manager and sign a load of non analytics players while the analytics department keep their jobs and madsen etc sit in the reserves draining the money

I think even that’s overly hopeful

I'd be really sad to see Marti go. First manager I have really liked since Warnock. Think it would be madness not to stick with him.

For the record, and for the idiots here who caricature rather than read me, if they can read at all, I'd feel sad too. But I'm starting to fear the worst if he presides over a similar sh*tshow today to Boro.
I hope he stays. For me , along with Cook and Chair the only really good things we have going
I hope :the brain trust at the top realize they have made a rickett with Nourry and quietly slide him out and keep on Marti for the long haul ( cos it will be one) with a not useless dirctor of football and recruitment org
I think :he will be fired after Leeds game.

He wouldn't be expected to get much today, but if the Stoke game looks like the Boro game I think he's going to be on the edge.
And that will be ignoring the massive issues with injuries and fitness, which he doesn't lead on, AND the massive issues with recruitment, that he apparently has a say in, but doesn't lead on.

He still 'leads on' coaching, does he not, and the evidence this season, and especially of late, is he's getting worse at it, unfortunately, topped off by the worst peg and hole misalliance you could find anywhere in the selection of Santos as a converted left-back. Organisation, commitment, shape, and a game plan are the basics, whatever the state of your squad, and I've lost count already of the number of times this season this forum has asked what it is he/they're doing in training.
If he doesn't do the basics again today, it could well be double figures for Lids! Assuming I can bear to watching, it'll be through fingers like a horror movie!

I'm using Nourry speak - it's my new thing.
The Santos choice was a mistake undoubtedly. Corrected at half time but admittedly the damage was done. But you can take that position as one of many examples - been widely discussed about the shopping around of Pal, loaning of Larkeche, forced to try a rusty Fox there which went very badly wrong immediately. As did Santos. Putting Saito there worked but he's lost Chair now too so even that option is limited.
There are examples all over the pitch of players doing things, or not doing things, that are clearly driving Marti nuts. He might well be in a funk like much of the squad but he's proven himself at the end of last season and deserves to be given more slack, imho, than the elephants in the room - the people 'leading' on injuries/fitness and recruitment.

He doesn't get it right every time. If I'm being honest, he needs to be a LOT more pragmatic (given where we are at the moment) and to shelve the playing it out from the back and to get us harrying higher up the pitch with 4 across the midfield and bodies (at least 2, attacking in the box). On the other hand I admire him for encouraging us to play it out from the back. Nardi looking to play football every time he has the ball is very refreshing to see, even if it is very unlikely to get us points on the board for the meantime.
In conclusion: yes, I would be sorry if Marti gets the boot

And you need to rein in the patronising advice and take a look at the ridculous brickbats that regularly get thrown my way without provocation, so jog on!

How is it patronising? I think you lost your thesaurus on that one

Problem is he's had to put too many square pegs in round holes, you've got players who have barely any experience at this level having to play out of position because there are so many injuries and the squad is so unbalanced. If everyone is in different positions there is no opportunity to develop muscle memory, so they need thinking time which might be a split second but slows us down, and causes its own problems. Well drilled and organised teams are well drilled and organised when they instinctively no where they are supposed to be, where there team mate is supposed to be and what 2 or 3 things they may do on the ball.
As I said in another thread add the pressure, and the desperation and the managers decision making also becomes impacted. Last year he won us games, I dont think he's really cost us games this season but he is not having the impact he did before. and tbh very few managers we've had in recent years have any real in game impact before him.
You would see the same with Mark Robins at Coventry they were utterly woeful against us as bad as we have been this season for similar reasons

I don't disagree with your very well written post there, but ultimately we are bottom of the division and extremely gash. Mark Robins had way more credit in the bank than cifuentes, and according to Clive was unhappy about a similar recruitment model to QPR being imposed on him. It really comes down to how much faith theyve got in the new structure. You always have to balance short term and long term, but we aren't ticking either box currently. But should marti carry the can for the current situation? Maybe not, but he will. But with a nice 3 year pay off, which we all could do with

I think he'll get at least the next 2 games but if we lose to Stoke and Cardiff I think he'll be gone
I know the vast majority are still behind Cifuentes but if we lose those two games we will be marooned at the bottom of the table in December, a third of games gone with no home wins all season so he’d thoroughly deserve to go I’m afraid. Hope we’ll have some important players back and we’ll beat Stoke though.

I like to stick up for the down trodden, it's a failing.
But my god if anyone ever painted their own target Stainrod....
Here my advice, if people don't like you fuc 'em, pay them no heed. However if everyone's says you're being a bit precious, they may be onto something.

It's like trying to cook spaghetti bolognaise with a tin of beans a pigs head.
It can't be done. What 11 would you pick to guarantee us 3 pts in any upcoming fixture?.
If Marti is head coach then it's on the recruitment division.
Yes it looks wild, but he's probably on the phone to the Samaritans the other 22 and half hours of match day.
