Best EVER thing on TV 21:26 - Aug 3 with 7278 viewscolinallcars

Moving on from the Uhuru thread - and I've had a few pints - what d'you think is the best thing ever on TV.
I'd go for Star Trek, Monocled Mutineer and Smiley's People. Edit, and Tinker, tailor, Soldier Spy.

In all my years watching t.v. there are not too many programmes that I would actively make a point of staying in to watch. My favourite programmes were probably from my secondary school days when you didn't go out in the week so used to look forward to what was on the box in the evenings, so probably, Top of the Pops on Thursday evenings, Sportsnight on Wednesday nights, Monty Python's Flying Circus (also Thursday nights I think) and Minder (Wednesday evenings, I think). Coronation Street when Deirdre had her affair with Mike Baldwin was also compulsive viewing for me.

Topsy-turvy that list and you've got my top 3

I can't put the entirety of Black Mirror up this high but I absolutely love as many as 10 of the episodes. And some others might better resonate with a rewatch. For me, that last batch really hurt my overall rating, though.

The Wire, end of discussion.

Neither Breaking Bad (which IMHO isn't as good as Better Call Saul) or Sopranos are anywhere near as good.

For comedy definitely Seinfeld.

Ok, top of my head:

Inside No 9 - 12 days of Christine
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Singing Detective and anything with Alison Steadman (I met her recently)

More recently:
Breaking Bad

Oh, and of course:
1st January 1992 - what a way to start the year!!.

I believe Monty Python's Flying Circus was shown on Sunday nights. I say that because I can remember everyone talking about it at school on Monday mornings.

Good call on Top of the Pops, if I had to pick one, it would be that. The culture, colour and vibes it brings still move me even now, when I watch the repeats.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
