FT REPORT
4-1 can't be bad.
Dykes two good headed goals especially the first from a brilliant Barbet cross.
And his chest down control which led to the Willock goal.
And did we have all the luck. Yes
A long range Jojo goal deflected by a defender and then their keeper makes a mess to concede at a vital time at 1-1.
And Kakay - who I also enjoy going forward and needs lots of matches to improve his confidence - it appeared he handballed in the box denying Sheff Wed a certain goal.
Penalty not given.
A disjointed performance from QPR - but how can we complain after an emphatic victory?
Now up one to 11th - 56 points - only two behind last year's total with six games left.
And if we win our two games in hand we go 9th.
Next stop at Rotherham on Tuesday then 3 difficult games Middlesbro (A), Swansea (A) Norwich (H).
And for the first time in a very long time we have zero goal difference - as pointed out on this thread earlier.
All very positive.

Another entertaining game, great to score four but Wednesday were always dangerous when that clever bugger Bannan had the ball.
What else, oh yeah, I was very confident we’d win this one, also delighted to remind all the Dykes doubters that he has tremendous potential, other than that, zero goal difference and I noticed Sheffield’s assist was a reach around.

I'd love to be able to sign him, he certainly won't be playing for SW next season.

Really enjoyed that and great to see Dykes be rewarded for decent form in the last half dozen games

Warburton best manager we've had since Warnock and if we win Tuesday will go above Boro who have massive budget compared to us

Could go 8th if we win 13-0 on Tuesday!

It's doable. 12 for Dykes and 1 for Willock.

On course for best finish since we last got promoted. Fantastic stuff given our budget and how we all felt at year end!

Pleased George Thomas came on and made significant impact too. There's a player there if we can get him fit.

Yes a very pleasing win as without Austin and the Owls getting a morale boosting win last time out, and having won 3-0 on their last visit when we had nothing to play for, I feared a repeat.

One good thing about not going up is avoiding VAR and these ridiculous disallowed goals for being level. You can get away with things in this league as we did today except for retrospective suspensions.

Great win as Wednesday had more to play for but I am at a loss to understand how they beat Cardiff 5-0 on Monday. We can't match that margin of victory. Still a zero GD but then you look at Norwich with a plus 37 GD and 34 points clear of us and see the big strides we still need to make.

Just to spoil my day a bit, Eze gifted Chelsea their first goal and now its 3-0. You can get away with it from taking on players outside your box in our league but very risky in the Premier league as the gift is likely to be accepted.

Would be great to see Thomas get more game time now. What's his best roll in the team I wonder?

Being a bit cynical here but on Saturday, 8 May, 2004 when we won promotion at Hillsborough I thought their fans were complete pricks and bloody nasty which was totally unnecessary.

So with that in mind what goes round comes round;

Goodbye.

Agree on that. Thought he looked good pre-season, then wasn’t quite at it when he came back from
Injury. Somehow keep the loanees, manager in his 3rd season and one of form sides in 2021......looking good.

Hang on.....what is all this......optimism....pubs open Monday, just picked up a peroni from shop....ice cold....not used to this.

Our goal really was a collective mess, when you look at it again. Field and JoJo dragged across, Dickie dragged up the line and De Wijs dragged across. In fairness to Barbet I think he had to attack the ball, which left Windass all on his todd. Wallace a bit slow to come across on the cover maybe?

Anyway, plenty of blame to go around on that one.

Wallace was covering his wing back and that was why his was late in coming over. Barbet drifted out unnecessarily; you cannot have all three CBs over one side of the penalty area D. Really, really poor and pretty much in line with Barbet's first half performance, which aside from the cross for Dykes was not his best.

Can we go out yet?

Disagree. If we are signing any centre midfielder other than Sam field this summer it has to be Stef Johansen. Not interested in meat and tidy Barry Bannan at all.

Has he finally turned it around?

Dykes has been bloomin' brilliant over the last few games.

Keep goin' Lyndon...

And Chris Willock is going to be one hell of a player - could be the next significant sale imho...

Bannan head and shoulders the best player on the park today. Never wasted a single ball. He must be screaming inside with frustration when he sees the ineptitude of his team-mates. Johansen very quiet for the second game in a row, this time with Field beside him, possibly running out of gas after playing a lot of football recently, having played none at all before that. He and Charlie have done their job, so hats off to both of them.
Next big question is can we kick on without either of them next season? Dykes form seems to indicate he has come of age at Championship level, but mid-field could be more problematic, even with Field, unless Amos can hit the ground running.
Super win today. Never 3 goals between the sides, but we'll take it.

Agree but I have to say , Bannan seems to turn into prime purlo every time he plays us . Every ball he played today was dangerous and I counted 3 different effortless nutmegs as he breezed through the midfield at times .

Enjoyed the game - few of points:-

Bannan was head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch.

Kakay - sorry did not impress me today.

Dykes - played very well, really pleased he scored twice and really might have had a three but for a smart save by their keeper.

Defence - thought we were poor at the back today and Dieng looked a bit nervy at times.

SJ - was not at his best.

Albert - thought he looked really good when he came on and put in some great crosses.

Thomas - very positive and a great pass for our fourth goal.

Well done to everyone and it sets us up for a nice weekend - lets hope Justin Rose plays well tonight!!!

Have often wondered if Barry Bannan is actually any good or does he just turn it on against us? Presumably if he was decent, he'd not be at Wednesday

Yeah but, if the league had started on Jan1st we would be in a Play Off position. Improve, sure, but we'll do fine if we can maintain.
