If you find yourself visiting the idyllic Mu Ko Lanta National Park, don't laugh casually when the girl in the coffee shop says, with a peculiar level of menace, "Be careful. Of monkey."

20 minutes later you will be a fat bloke getting chased half naked, across the beach and into the sea, by said monkey.

Other than that you can't go wrong.

I’ve got a qpr Xmas tree ornament hidden under a rock in that national park, up where the lighthouse is. My mate forgot to look when he went a couple of weeks after me back in 2018.. I’ll get it back one day! Ko Lanta is amazing

I went a few years ago with my wife for about month. We both loved it and had a great time. We spent over a week in Bangkok and loved it and also visited a few islands and some other towns/cities.

In terms of advice it all depends what type of holiday you're after. It can be as active or relaxing as you want, or a city break spent exploring Bangkok?

Either way I'm sure you'll have a great time. The only bit of advice I'd give is if you're in Bangkok and find it too hot just jump on the Sky train or go into your nearest 7-11.

if you do go to Phuket and end up in Patong Beach while England are playing Australia go to the Shipwreck bar NOT the Kangaroo bar, Ned Kelly's is right out!

For Central Pattaya the Hard Rock Hotel is very decent and right on the Beach and walking distance to Walking street which is best visited early evening as it can get very messy later on. North Pattaya and Jomtiem are much nicer areas and better value for hotels and restaurants.

Bangkok is great, the BTS Skytrain and the metro gets you around, grand palace is a must visit and emerald buddha temple. some great music dance venues away from the tacky tourist traps, a boat trip on the river and the canals is very worthwhile, they will take you down the canals where "man with a golden gun" was filmed

Khao Yai national park a couple of hours north east of Bangkok is a nice change of pace and scenery in the cooler hills for a couple of days. watching a couple of millions bats leaving the cave there at sunset is an awesome experience plus plenty of other wildlife to see
