All the interviews are excellent in both the books you have written. Do you have any plans for anymore Dale related books?

Going off his current demeanour, rather than that of 10 years ago, I reckon I'd do well to keep my head if I asked that.

Unfortunately i disagree with that.Keith Hill is a control freak, the interview would have to be done on his terms, self analysis and a recognition of what the Club also did for him and his family would be something that he couldn’t accept. It’s always been the Keith Hill show and no matter how skilled Fitzochris is in interview techniques, Hills personality won’t allow him to accept that without the opportunity our Club afforded him his managerial career would probably have never materialised. I honestly think there could be a good book in Keith Hill but for that to happen he would have to end the love affair with himself and become a lot more humble, I think he’d struggle to do that though.

but that would be interesting in itself in the same way that aspects of the other interviews hav been disected on tne forum. I am thinking of the Coleman, Barrow and Parkin interviews. I would love to learn about how he saw his times at Spotland and what he thought was behind it going all wrong . But i share your thoughts about him.

You took the words out of my mouth pioneer that is not to say Sutty wasn't right about Hill's ego. All Fitz would have to do is let him show his true egocentric self.

It would also be the easiest interview to do...set the tape going and say “Keith, where did it all go wrong” but hope Fitz has a suit of armour and a spare tape machine😊
Player Interviews: Rickie Lambert on 07:42 - Mar 26 with 2485 views | EllDale | It's interesting to see how Craig Dawson believes himself to be one of Hillcroft's "projects". I think that Joe Thompson, NML and Jamie Allen were others and I have little doubt that Hill regarded Danny Adshead in much the same light. It would also be interesting to see where the transformation between Keith Hill the topman and HIll the ogre actually took place? Somewhere around 2016?

Hill went very quickly from messiah to tyrant and as yet nobody has revealed the transition from the inside, the story will be out there and in time we will get to read it maybe something for Fitz or Mark Hodkinson to look into. It will be a fascinating read.

I'd be inclined to look at the timeline between the death of his father and the change in his outlook For that reason alone, anyone seeking to interview him might do well to think more than twice

I fail to see any connection with the death of his father and Hill undergoing a change in character. The death of a loved one is very sad esp a mom or dad, we all cope with it in different ways and a period of mourning is to be expected some take longer than others and with some the mourning never ends.

I think I might have been one of the first to mention the death of his father as a trigger for his change in attitude, There is little doubt KH was close to,his father, he even took him to pre-season training. I guess its entirely possible that losing the person that he was so close to removed an amount of the raison de etre for Keith. They also played together as father and son and I bet they had long telephone conversations after every game. Then suddenly everything changes ...KH senior is poorly and living in the USA and KH cant get there to be with him. Its easy to imagine the mental torment and regret. The passion dies. The doubt sets in and suddenly its everyone elses fault. He probably needed help, I doubt he knew how to handle it. Few people really do.

You're right 49th, and that's what i was alluding to Add to what you've set out so well, the comment from KH that "he'd made sacrifices" by staying in post with his dad's condition deteriorating, and we need look no further; in hindsight perhaps, but it was well-documented at the time

Both you and 49th have made some fair points, grief can be debilitating maybe there is something in Hill's change that can be attributed his Fathers death. [Post edited 26 Mar 2020 21:39]

Incidentally Chris, you recently sent out a tweet which said "Fair play.." before linking to a Lambert story in the Bristol Post, which contained your article quotes: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-hero-r So is that 'Fair play' because they asked to use your article or because they used it without permission, but gave you the credit? I see they have replaced any words you might have written with presumably those of Sam Frost the reporter [Post edited 27 Mar 2020 11:19]

They ripped it off without credit, so I contacted them and told them I wanted payment or full credit. They immediately gave me a credit. It's fine - I don't mind they've put a Bristol Rovers spin on it, but I wanted credited for the interview in which all of the quotes I obtained have been used.
