Traditional init?

Having binge watched The Crown on Sh*tSticks, I'm gained a wider understanding of them. I'm coming around to liking them and have full respect for The Queen.

The hangers-on though really should be cut off from the public purse.

The propaganda obviously works.

Nice one, Clive, MEGALOLZ!!! I suspect I've heard a lot more directly from Trump and Johnson via public appearances and their own Newspaper/magazine columns/tweets, than you have Meghan Markle. In Trumps case, add his own words with damning court cases, his ongoing impeachment and increasingly bizarre public displays, and its not outrageous to take a view that he's an ar sehole and unfit to be in office.

If you could point me to public pronouncements/unfavourable court rulings etc that support your assertion that "She is a scheming narcissist and he's as thick as two short planks". It would be appreciated. Basically, anything that isn't a Daily Mail/Express column would be helpful. As ever, links would be great.

So, without ever being given an alternative, in exchange for luxury, you have to spend your life in the public spotlight, surrounded by security, following other's expectations, hammered if you fail to live up to them, being judged by the public who've never even met you, never mind known you. Yeah, sounds fantastic. I'd take a holiday in Yarmouth with my family over a weeks skiing in Klosters being followed by the press. And a night down the pub with my mates where I can be an idiot and have fun, over a state dinner where I have to put on a performance and act the part. I get to live my life the way I want to live it and I can walk down the street without a load of paparazzi bothering me, and talentless cun ts writing cun tish articles about me and my family in the press. It might be a gilded cage, but they're still prisoners to all that bollo cks, so fair play for him deciding he wants something different. The fact they have better bed linen and a nicer house doesn't make the huge downsides any more attractive to me. As for your 40 hour week - I wouldn't be stunned if they do similar if not more when it comes to official duties and charity work. He's also done a stint in the Army.

I wasn't privy to their wedding planning conversations - I don't know whether that was what they ideally wanted or something the Royal family expected of them, so I can't comment either way. Not sure them having a hush-hush do at Islington Town Hall with £500 behind the bar and a bit of a spread in the pub would have gone down to well with sections of the press, though, and nor would a more normal ceremony in the States (imagine how that would have gone down). Look at all the fuss that was made when they didn't invite the whole world to gawp at their newly born, first child.

So now they have taken themselves out of the “public” spotlight because it’s all to much being a royal and so horrible I take it they won’t be using any tax payers money anymore or have a need to

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

They did say they intended to become financially independent, so I guess that's what they meant.

I think it's perfectly healthy to judge people who run for office - we do it at election time, when we judge them on what they've said and done in the past, and what they promise to do in the future. In case the case of Prime Ministers and Presidents, we have a lot to judge them on, because they're all over the media (unless they're hiding in fridges or on holiday)

I think it's a bit sad to make judgements about the characters and intelligence of two people you have never met, who on the face of it, don't seem to have done anything wrong other than want to have a slightly less weird life for them and their child(ren). Certainly not enough to see them dismissed as "a scheming narcissist" and "thick as two short planks".

In terms of calming down - I'm wishing them good luck. That seems more rational than slagging off a couple of strangers. Anyhow, work to be done.

Is it only me that thinks we ,as a supposed democracy, in the year 2020, choose our head of state by the system of being the eldest child of the last person to do the job? That is when you think about it quite ridiculous!

Completely agree with everything you've said on here Konk. How anyone could compare Meghan Markle to Donald Trump in terms of ethics and behaviour as listed by Konk and highlighted in numerous places elsewhere is beyond me. Meghan was involved in Human Rights work long before she met Harry and I'd love to hear about all the good works carried out by Trump.

I think whatever they did H and M were going to be damned by the hacks in this country. If they get involved in promoting charities and issues they're damned as being hypocrites or preaching about something they don't know anything about. If they don't get involved in worthy causes they're damned as being lazy sybarites, When you can't win whatever you do, the sensible thing is to do what's best for you.

I'm not a Republican because I'm cynical enough to believe we'd end up with someone like Boris Johnson as President or possibly someone from the Only Way is Essex, and frankly I'm less embarrassed by the Queen and Prince Charles than I am by Johnson representing our country.

To be honest, I would rather our government (of whichever political leaning) spent some of the money they spend on bombing foreign countries and subsidising power stations and industries which are making our only planet uninhabitable on a royal family that generates some tourist income and which brings enjoyment to at least some of the population. Not that it is an either/or choice, of course.

I would absolutely hate a life like Harry and Meghan have.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Strange that the palace have announced that they're disappointed with this, but made no such statement about one of the queens sons being a regular visitor and best pal to the owner of Nonce Archipelago

Does anyone under the age of 50 really give a fvck about the royal family?

Can't believe in this day and age the media still shovel this sh1t.

I dont and I'm 56.

Regardless of the reasoning for the decision I think it was a very poor show to announce it the way they did without prior notification to the Queen that shows a real lack of class, perhaps there is a clever PR strategy behind this but it stinks.

With every year and every child Prince William has Harry becomes less important, now that Williams family is well established this doesnt look like a disastrous decision in terms of impact on the royal family, maybe he feels he has done his bit, there has obviously been some friction between William and Kate and Harry/Meghan.

Although a Republican at heart i dont begrudge some further financial assistance, I think he has done a pretty good job under extraordinary circumstances, yes he has had a privileged life but that comes with many many constraints that most of us would not want to put up with.

How they proceed with their new life will determine how they are perceived and treated in the future, I wish them well but wont be surprised if it goes pear shaped

"The pair was already preparing to launch their own Sussex Royal charity, which they set up after splitting from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's foundation in June last year.

The Sussexes' new charity is expected to be global, linked to Africa and the US, rather than domestic - and will have a commitment to female empowerment."

They've already got a charity planned, was mentioned in the news this morning.

A personal message from me to Mrs Konk:

"After many months of reflection and internal discussions, I have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this family.
"I intend to step back as a' senior' member of the Konk Family and work to become financially dependent, whilst continuing to go to out more than I should and spend more money on clothes than is sensible.
"It is with your subconscious encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that I feel prepared to make this adjustment.
"I now plan to balance my time between bed, the sofa and the pubs of Bristol, continuing to honour my duty to daytime TV and small independent breweries across the South-West.
"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation of both Homes under the hammer and traditional British pubs, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including my official retirement party/tour.
"I look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as I continue to collaborate with you in respect of financing this difficult decision.
"Until then, please accept my deepest thanks for your continued support."

No, probably just use their positions to try to do a bit of good in the world, as they have been clearly trying to since they got together, and without having to justify their actions to the Sun and Daily fvcking Mail. Good luck to them.

To paraphrase Sid Vicious “I’ve met the man on the street and he’s a cvnt” - couldn’t have put it better myself based on some of you lot.
