Birch you clown, you want to save the club? on 17:36 - Jan 5 with 1603 views | monmouth | I doubt Birch put his hand in his pocket... Given it would be probably cost neutral at worst for the caterers, I'd bet on a freebee. Not that it matters, as it was someting. I think he's been an ok chairman, carrying out his remit to the letter. If we'd had him in the prem instead of Chancer McChanceface the failed very small time businessman, we'd be better off. He's still a mouthpiece for the owners, of course he is. That's his job.

It's certainly no compensation to me, there are another 22 teams in the league, this being above them is the be all and end all, is so narrow minded

Birch you clown, you want to save the club? on 16:31 - Jan 5 by jack2jack | Birch was brought in to steady the ship financially, the footballing side of it is irrelevant, the owners will fvck off as soon as it financially viable. |
I don’t disagree, but we’ll never be viable unless they sort out the footballing side. There seems to be an increasingly emerging trend to view football clubs’ success in terms of their finances and as straightforward businesses. You can’t improve a club’s position through financial management if the playing side is wrong- that’s just fiddling while Rome burns. The ONLY way to make a football club financially viable is for it to be successful on the pitch. There’s no way the yanks will see a return on their investment without PL football. The worse we get on the pitch, the bigger their loss when they sell. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Birch you clown, you want to save the club? on 16:01 - Jan 5 by icecoldjack | Birch is here to strip assets and help sell the club, it's what he does, where and why to people think the bloke is anything other than that ? He isn't here to sanction spending he's here to cut costs and try and move us on to yet another blood sucker. Let's just remember who sold the club on in the first place, the likes of Jenkins, Morgan and Dineen have basically got away with a trouble free life after selling the club to fookin hedge funders! It doesn't get more disgusting than that . Burch is just a vulture and we all surely knew this when other other vultures employed him. |
But there are so many here who admire Birch, were fcuked.

Hard to judge him imo. He’s here to do a job, but he is a football man with a lot of experience. In theory he’s the type of guy you’d want, but I’ve no idea on his brief except he’s having to work under restrictive financial constraints. I bet we could do a lot worse. His statements are bland though. And the unemotional response to Toshack leaving was particularly telling. I’m not convinced Birch or the owners have any emotional ties to us (probably stating the obvious there!).

I agree, however, the way we are in terms of finances, league etc. It's a catch 22 situation, so we stagnate, in short we are going nowhere.

If you think any different then fine, time will tell. What was the name of that band you used to play in down the coach house ? | Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

According to the Western Mail, the Club had a revenue of about £126m during its last season in the PL, that will drop to £30m next season last year of Parachute Payments and about £15m to £20m the following season when the Parachute Payments finish. That’s a huge drop to have to deal with, especially when the club have to honour pre existing financial commitments such as player transfer fee payments, wages re contracts etc, losses on purchases etc. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/what-swansea-citys-ac I don’t have access to the Club accounts and I don’t know what if anything has been taken out of the club, but I’d wager Birch has got a tough job on his hands. I reckon he got some breathing space with the sale of James and McBurnie, but there are still some big commitments on the pay roll. He’s a “turn around” specialist, he’s on a good wedge, but I would imagine that the owners see that as small beer in the grand scheme of things be cause he’s trying to protect their investment. The Club owners have appointed someone who is well respected in his field and they have appointed him early doors, which is better than leaving it until it’s too late and the club evaporates! There are tough time ahead.

I don’t follow what happens up in Cardiff closely, but from what I can see Tans not been that bad an owner, the their guy Sam Hamman though ......Portsmouth had some interesting owners too.
Birch you clown, you want to save the club? on 21:49 - Jan 5 with 1001 views | NotLoyal | The other issue with birch is his close relationship with Keith Harris who couldn't get football league clearance, fit and proper test to buy Portsmouth. Don't trust any of them, and let's not forget Harris is one of Hamers buddy's too. Simon Jordan (say what you will he knows his business) detests Harris.

Why would anyone trust him? Surely we’ve had our fingers burned badly enough on that score. We all, and the Trust should be beyond scepticism into suspicion. As with all these things we’ll judge him when he’s gone. Until then, suspicion all the way. I think he’s been ok so far, but I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could chuck a bulldozer.

Birch you clown, you want to save the club? on 16:40 - Jan 6 with 596 views | TimTtam | For Birch to "save the club", the only thing he can do is cut costs. If he does his job properly, we will hopefully be a financially stable Championship club with new owners within 2 years. If he cuts corners then problems may arise. Things could be a whole lot worse. Had Huw answered the phone (btw I am NOT excusing his past behaviour), we would have received 1.5M upfront for James's loan, and 2.83M last transfer window, with 2.83M to come in each of the next 2 years. Had we not sold McBurnie, he would be struggling up front from the lack of service just like Borja/Surridge, and we would've been paying Borja and Ayew's wages while they were out on loan. Also a 25M combined in lost transfer fees.
