Well I would be shocked if many remembered that, I honestly do not believe it was a widespread tag any of those players had.

If Pirlo was black and signed for us, he would also be labelled lazy.

Bony, Emnes, Scotland, Lawrence, Barrow, Sanches all got this tag. Can't remember many white players being slated for their laziness.

Just an observation.

Can't remember many of that lot apart from Scotland being called lazy. Some of them were undoubtedly shîte though.

Emnes, for all his faults, always put the proverbial shift in.

The boy looked a lot better than last week. A couple more games and we'll be chanting his name.

His footwork is mesmerising at times. He always seems to look for a one two or a give and go. Occasionally gets frustrated when teammates don't make the run for him. I guess that's a product of playing for more dominant teams who look to start attacks from much deeper positions.

I'm convinced he will be superb once he gets used to his teammates.

93% pass completion rate today for Mr. Sanches.

I'll take that any day, especially against a dangerous club like Spurs, and especially after last Sunday.

Not all, maybe just the ones who seem to be consistently following this pattern. Its undeniable in my opinion. Whether that is active racism or a subconscious misconception based on physical appearance, that is not for me to answer.

Spurious attempts to say others have been subjected to the same are just that - spurious.

Yes he doesn't run around like a headless chicken so therefore in time honoured swans tradition he's therefore utter sh1t .

Give the kid a break, if we actually paid £30 m for him then fair enough but the reason he's here is to build confidence fitness and games.

He's been tidy enough first half getting better with each game no doubt. Sanches is the least of our problems truth be told. We are totally isolated up front and have no clue in the final 3 Rd !!

I agree with your views in Sanches.
Not so on the rest of it. Clem had us set up to defend and there was therefore very little opportunity for attack. We parked the bus today and mugged them for a point with a sound defensive display.
This was the plus for me. The minus, or sad point, is the Swansea Way seems to have truly gone. I did not notice us play the ball out from the back any time today. Just hoof the ball up to whoever was furthest up the field in true Stoke and WBA fashion.
I can live with it in the medium term if it makes up for Huw's cock ups but I hope we can return to our passing game one day. We will have to see whether that is going to be under Clem's watch or not.....

Or you remember incorrectly?

I am yet to come across anyone who has ever described the likes of Van Der Gun as lazy when he is brought up, and don't think I have ever seen it on here when discussing former players. Just a rubbish player.

Your comparisons are on the whole clearly over weight immobile white players. The fact you have to go there in order to compare them to perfectly fit black players is telling in itself, next you will be giving me Molby as an example of equal treatment. I think anyone deciding to not see the obvious is just being naïve at best.

Of course I can. You are the one who seems overly annoyed by the disagreement, show me where I have?

To compare an unfit and overweight Trundle in his second spell to a fit and in his prime Jason Scotland/Sanches/Bony is just mental. Feel free to disagree with that all you like, but it wont change the fact that it clearly is.

My responses have been perfectly amicable. So as soon as you say agree to disagree, none of your points can be combatted? Give me a break.

You are wrong and comparing overweight Caucasian players as examples of why there is equal treatment against fit and in their prime black ones is mental.

agree to disagree.

That doesn't mean much though a few years ago under Rodgers,Vorm had a bigger pass completion rate than the whole Sunderland team and he was our keeper.

Combat all you like, I'm just saying you seem to have a problem with disagreement. Agree to disagree if you want, or tell me you're perfectly happy with it. You don't see many on here entering into long sagas.

Whether you can remember it or not, the perfectly lithe Hernandez took at least as much of these type of comments as the likes of Barrow or Emnes. As did Van der Gunn. Appleby had a shed load of it, though I appreciate that was ages ago.

Ill informed opinions on the likes of Bony and Scotland, absolutely. In my opinion, that is because people don't understand players like that are supposed to stay more static and central than different types of strikers. In yours it's because they are black.

I said agree to disagree, not sure why you are responding?

As others in this thread have pointed out - how are you displaying anything different to me? You disagree with me so are saying your piece, I am disagreeing with you so saying mine - yet you only believe one has an issue with disagreement - the one that openly says he doesn't and you may disagree all you like. Surely you see the error there?

Appleby will be remembered as a skilful player (Although from that era I will give you Jason Price, constantly berated for his skin colour and lack of tracking back EVERY game even when he was busting a gut), Van der Gunn will be remembered as a rubbish one, Orlandi will be remembered as an injured one. They may have been called lazy for the odd game but it most certainly did not make up their description.

Yet the likes of Bony, Scotland and now seemingly Sanches seem to be developing/developed a very clear stereotype of lazy or non committed.

I am merely noticing a correlation and not coming to a conclusion. The ratio is overwhelmingly in the favour (if you would like to call it that) of ethnic minorities, you can add Ki to that list.

Going back 20 years to find a player or noting overweight unfit Caucasian ones isn't really balancing that out.
