The Official Swansea City Versus Leicester City Premier League Match Thread on 09:15 - Feb 10 by Pegojack | I think we'll see the 'regular' starting line up of the past few games, with Routs, Llorente and Siggy as the front three. He's probably thinking Narsingh to replace Routs after an hour, and Ayew to replace Llorente with ten/fifteen mins to go. |
Completely agree here. As much as I want to see Ayew replace Routledge long-term, which I think will happen sooner than later, I believe Clement will understandably take it slow and stick with what's working, at least while it's working. And right now, it is. Having said that, Ayew offers the same fight and workrate as Routledge, and actually adds a legitimate threat in attack. I know Clement is aware of this and I have faith he will be proactive. I would be really surprised (and disappointed) if Jordan was not starting in a few weeks. [Post edited 10 Feb 2017 14:38]

The Official Swansea City Versus Leicester City Premier League Match Thread on 14:40 - Feb 10 with 3262 views | Glyn1 | Nobody said that Siggy should be benched for Routledge, or have I missed something? It'll be the same starting line-up as last week, but personally I like the idea of our double-agent Dyer coming on in the second half given his knowledge of Morgan and Huth. No doubt he's been discussing them with Clement and Llorente.

The Official Swansea City Versus Leicester City Premier League Match Thread on 12:58 - Feb 10 by KGriz16 | Line up wont change. It's working well to what exactly PC wants from the boys at the moment. Narsingh is an impact sub. I can't see Ayew starting games until we're safe or a couple more points adrift (should that be the case) why change what's working already? and depsite most peoples criticisms of Routledge his defensive work in front of a subpar Naughton is really good. He helps a lot. I wouldn't let Narsingh lose in front of KN in a must win game, especially after against Southampton it was evident Narsingh's defensive work isn't the best & why would he even consider putting Siggy on the bench? Siggy and Routledge defend and go forward well. PC is more concerned with defending first than WR's "limitations" Do watch/understand the games? Bench Siggy for Narsingh f*cking hell. I have to agree with the bit about Narsingh and Clement defensively but you seem to have not read Tummers comment. He wasn't advocating benching Siggy, he was saying we should bench Routledge.
The Official Swansea City Versus Leicester City Premier League Match Thread on 15:04 - Feb 10 with 3245 views | Glyn1 | From today's Guardian: "Paul Clement's forays into the transfer market have also proved astute, with Martin Olsson, Luciano Narsingh and Tom Carroll all impressing since their arrival at the Liberty Stadium. In further good news for Swans fans, the deadline-day acquisition Jordan Ayew has reported for duty upon his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, where he boosted his confidence after a patchy spell at Aston Villa with an absolute belter for Ghana against DR Congo. " When all of those players were bought there were posters here who said that these were all Huw Jenkins' choices and had been foisted on Clement - I'm not having a pop at anyone because obviously we're on the outside looking in, but who do people think actually decided on these players? I'm guessing that it was our much maligned scouting department with Clement having the right to veto any he didn't want, but that's a guess. [Post edited 10 Feb 2017 15:05]

You would be correct, scouting and Jenkins, draw up the candidates. Clement had veto power. Each player brought in was an old Jenkins favorite but PC was happy with them. I am praying that going forward Clement will be given full reign, as he seems very practical and wouldn't blow up our budget. At the very least, hopefully we'll see a role reversal with him and scouting (and Jenkins out). It's the only way we'll ever see any of his contacts in top-level football actually used and exploited to our benefit. This was a good window for us, and that should be commended. But the dynamic behind the scenes still remains and players and agents are aware of that. Jenkins must go in order to get the necessary quality back in the squad, or, inevitably we will go down sometime in the near future.
The Official Swansea City Versus Leicester City Premier League Match Thread on 15:41 - Feb 10 with 3205 views | Al_Bundy | So according to this thread we have - Dyer the impact sub Narsingh the impact sub Monterro the impact sub only when fit Barrow (when he was here) can only bring on as an impact sub Ayew - The new impact sub Routledge - the impact substitute in reverse after 60 mins almost every game All because our RB needs protecting because they are not good enough and we don't seem ever to get a wide player who is worthy of 90 mins at this level. The "department" is just a few of Jenkins' amigos and some guy with a Bond villain's name. Say it with me... LEADBETTER. I don't know about you but that just gave me the chills. On a serious note, they do at least exist in title, even though they are only HJ's yes men. He is the brains behind everything at the club, for better and mostly worse, and that is an open secret to everyone in football. He has become the cinder block dragging us down to the bottom of the ocean. And he makes £500k a year to do it. Unbelievable. But Clement did have veto power in this window and he was satisfied with the recruits we brought in. He has included the three available so far in pivotal and productive roles and seems eager to add Ayew to that list. All four are inexpensive upgrades on what we had and he knows that. I would assume we'll see more PC "targets" come summer, especially if we are able to stay up. If Jenkins were to leave, we'd be seeing a lot more, though. Fingers crossed that happens.

Maybe you should focus your energies less on the insults and more on reading comprehension. I said nothing about benching Siggy OR starting Ayew. Like I said very clearly the first time, if Narsingh starts, it will mean either Fer or Routledge go to the bench, hopefully the latter. Huge injury news: Vardy is reportedly doubtful for Sunday. http://m.leicestermercury.co.uk/vardy-doubt/story-30127347-detail/story.html [Post edited 11 Feb 2017 0:15]

Thanks, I agree, as they've been statistically shown to be quite conducive to successful teamwork and cohesion. I can even go high and/or low if that's something you're into. You just have to ask. And I agree about more choice. I would prefer the club treat Clement like a real PL manager and put him in charge of the purse strings. Seems a reasonable fella with some wonderful friends (and mentor) in the game, and deserves to be given a chance. He certainly couldn't do any worse than Jenkins and, unfortunately, that's where we're at right now. As long as he remains things will stay the same, as always.

The Official Swansea City Versus Leicester City Premier League Match Thread on 13:45 - Feb 9 by Glyn1 | Here's their fans forum: https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/110572-swansea-city-a-next-sunday/ and there's an interesting bit of analysis by one of them on its page 7: So what do you think CR will do against the two defensive lines Swansea will implement, Clement is probably the best defensive coach in Europe and he loves to frustrate the opposition, what tends to happen with the experience of Clement I have is this, you will push up against his two banks of four, you will be sucked into playing really narrow and he will frustrate you until you change your formation, you will try and make your wingers more expansive to combat the two lines and move them out to the wing and he will punish you, how many 1-0 Clement wins I have witnessed is unreal, he bored the left breast off me. Even though we're playing at home I am very happy for us to play defensively and give them a taste of their own medicine. We know exactly how they'll play against us because it's been the way that they beat us in our last three matches with them. They'll defend and try to counter-attack, and get the ball in space behind our back four for Vardy to run on to and score. But this time it isn't going to work, because their two centre backs Morgan and Huth are older and slower, we now have pace all over the pitch to over-run their mid-field, Vardy's confidence has gone, and our manager is too canny to allow them to have any space in front of goal. So, hopefully, we'll be set up as we were in the second half v Man City and get a 2 - 1 win. Come on you Swans! [Post edited 9 Feb 2017 13:48]
