Well I can't believe that for a second but will agree with you that a bass player is not a guitarist. They may well be able to play guitar and if and when they do they are a guitarist but Nicky Wire is the bassist in the Manics because that's what he plays. He may well play classical piano at home but it doesn't make him the pianist in the Manics.
