Steve McClaren on 03:08 - Mar 10 with 1420 views | Griffting | I'll be amazed if any of the names being mentioned take on the job up there.. Until there mathematically down its not too late but it's a risky career choice and one I cannot see the likes of Benitez, Moyes and Brendan taking. Pearson might take it as I think he'd be willing to go down for the rebuild job in the championship if it came to that but who knows what you're gonna get with him in charge! Garry Monk been linked??

I agree, but if they didn't go on a run before, I can't see them going on a run now! Even if Schteve calls them all naughty boys and Jon Jo points his index and threatens to nut Mitorvic. It would take a Pearson or even a Moyes kind of character to turn that club around and somehow Cashley, Charndley and Carr are not going to relinquish their power base so that a new Manager could act like a manager and not go cap in hand to a DOF or a transfer committee. That is why Benitez,Rodgers and Moyes are not touching the Toon job with the proverbial barge pole.

Strong rumours coming out of Spain that Rafa is about to take the job on a three year deal and will be in place for their next game (Leicester away).
Steve McClaren on 12:38 - Mar 10 with 1304 views | perchrockjack | It could go either way and I don't recall RAFA taking o0ver a club facing relegation . He could be their saviour and there again not. I just hope we can secure a couple of wins and watch them squirm

Aye, get ourselves 100% secure and then laugh at the two 'north east giants' scrabbling around like two rabid scabby disease-ridden curs in a cage.

Steve McClaren on 13:40 - Mar 10 with 1250 views | shandyjack | i hope Rafa does go there, never rated him as a manager, obviously sounds silly given he won a CL with Liverpool but i just don't see the fuss in him

As much as I dislike Norwich I would love to see the 2 North East sides go down. Pity Norwich Sunderland & Newcastle cant go down probably the 3 furthest away trips, quite like my Villa away trips.
Steve McClaren on 14:32 - Mar 10 with 1218 views | Landore_Jack | Newcastle are in advanced talks with Rafa Benitez with current head coach Steve McClaren set to be sacked, according to Sky sources. Sky Sports News HQ understand McClaren will be dismissed by Newcastle, making way for Benitez to take control. Sky sources understand Benitez is in talks over a three-year deal and will be allowed to bring his own backroom staff to St James' Park.

Steve McClaren on 14:41 - Mar 10 with 1198 views | monmouth | Jonjo Shelvey on McClaren: "Hopefully he stays in charge" #nufc I know he has to say that, but you can just imagine him panicking that his easy life under his sponsor is about to be kicked in the nuts. Does Benitez play lazy tw*ts in the hope they'll do one decent pass or shot in a match?

Steve McClaren on 14:45 - Mar 10 with 1182 views | sherpajacob | When you see that the likes of Gullit, Daglish, Hughton, Big sam, and Pardew all "failed" at Newcastle, when will people realise its not just the manager that is the problem at that club. My only concern is that Rafa will give them enough of a temporary lift to win the derby and beat us and Norwich, to give them a fighting chance.

Funnily enough, I don't see Newcastle in those terms. I quite like the club and their supporters are generally hood. Sunderland, now that's a different story and maybe you haven't gone quite far enough in your description!!!

He'd have to work his knackers off for Rafa, otherwise he won't get near the field of play, Rafa is all about pressing and hard work not standing on the halfway line pointing,

Actually, I agree as I spent some really enjoyable time up there in the eighties. It's just the Fat Ashley and his scummy business that raises my hackles, and I'd like to see his premier league pot of gold removed. But of the two, The Black T*ats would be my first choice to punt. Shame Stoke can't be down there.
