Lets buy Carroll 11:03 - Jan 14 with 2063 viewsyogibear_412

If the Bony deal has gone through I think we should snap him up, Fits our style nicely and could easily replace Leon in the future. Surely with every game his stock is going to increase. Not sure how much I would want us to pay...somewhere between 5-6 million and I think its a winner.

At first looked like a kid lost in a Center Parcs, but he seems to have suddenly come of age and looks like a future midfield gaffer.

Could really be something special.

Got to agree.
TC looked very lightweight and out of his depth at Stoke RFC, but he's growing in stature with every minute he's on the pitch.
Can't see Levy being too happy when HJ rocks up at his door, buying TC for a small amount of money plus a couple of Clubcard vouchers and Jazz!

He's lightweight, which wouldn't be a problem, except we have a number of other players who could double as mascots.
Happy to get him in as long as he feasts on best Welsh Black steaks and gets in the gym.

His game and progress reminds me of Joe Allen.

Surely we can afford him regardless of Bony deal.

Someone near me commented on Saturday that a midfield comprising Dyer, Routledge, Leon and Carroll must be the smallest ever to play in the Premier League.

They didn't do too badly though.

I think Carroll would make a very good squad player for us and we should attempt to sign him permanently.

For the base of our midfield next season, we will need to ask the question of who we want starting alongside Ki.

Shelvey is a very good player on his day and is one player in our squad who can shoot from distance. However he is very much a loose cannon and its pot luck on what you will get from him from one week to the next. I would have him in my match day squad but only as an impact player from the bench. Garry will have to decide on whether to keep Shelvey on or possibly cash in on him in the summer and bring in a replacement.

Leon is the complete opposite to Jonjo in that he is Mr Consistent, week in, week out. I would have him and Ki as my starting pair at the moment. The only question is how long can he carry on? Which is where Carroll could come in as he is in the same mould as Britton and could spend the next 12 months under Leon's wing learning his trade for when Leon does eventually hang up his boots.

Then there is Matt Grimes who has been touted as an excellent prospect for the future. Hopefully he will get some minutes before the end of the season so we can see what the lad is about.

Is he any smaller than Joe Allen? That's the midfield we started the PL with.

On one occassion Britton took the ball away from Andy Carroll with Tom helping out.
It looked like a grown-up being mugged by a pair of schoolkids for some sweets money.

We've always had a very small midfield and as you say, those players were prominent early on although Augustien started the first few matches until Joe cemented his place in the team and Sinclair played much of that season on the left. Gower also played much of the first half of the season. None of them are giants though.

Many on the forum have said that a tough midifield enforcer is needed for those situations when we come under the cosh. We brought on Augustine in that role a few times, but he didn't really deliver the goods. Indeed we could buy Carroll as one for the future, but he works in a different role and would not rectify this known weakness. I still think that some of the money should be spent on a quality defensive midfielder.

Why should we spend the money now, when he is contracted to us for the rest of the season anyway.
In reality we have not had enough game time out of him to determine his real worth to us.

If we are bidding for the Tom Carroll we saw vs West Ham then he should be top priority if we are bidding for the Tom Carroll we saw vs Everton in the Carling Cup then we should avoid
