A very poor day at the office.

I think our blaming our own team is taking a lot away from WBA. They obviously knew the boom ball over the top is our weakness, and they had two players up front with the quality to exploit this. And to be honest WBA were just as good with the ball on the floor and the passing game.

Their scoring first was the clincher, WBA could then defend deep and catch us on the counter attack. Which they did with regularity and quality.

Our attack was ponderous, there was little movement off the ball and you could see the game slow down every time Saints got the ball, there was only ever one pass open to our player on the ball and that was inevitably a back-pass.

I think this is just a blip for our team. We have to be more canny and defensive at the start against quality teams, and WBA are a quality team, no doubt. Saints need to score first as it suits our style of play to have the opposition attacking or chasing the game.

It is unfair to constantly blame the defence as they are usually left to handle attackers on their own due to the mid-field being to high up the pitch. As much as we hate it the "boom-ball" is our Achilles heel, and we need to find a way to counter it.

Nothing has been said about the dreadful substitution at half-time! Taking off Jack Cork, if he was not injured, must rate as the worst tactical decision since Nigel took off Lambert, Puncheon and Lallana against Manchester United! Jack Cork is one of the best midfielders of his type in the league - pinching the ball, letting it run in order to make space, and laying it off to colleagues in good postions. Terrible decision!

What rubbish from two of the most useless teams ever in the PL, Sky should refuse to broadcast crap like this.
Harry's comments about the game are starting to make me wonder about his judgement, if he thinks spineless turnouts like this are acceptable then he can go with most of the second rate scivers that turned out for us this year, bloody disgraceful.

Absolute agony. The inevitability of the Wigan win and the equal inevitability of a late Spurs winner (almost as inevitable that it would be Gareth Bale).

For weeks now we have waited for the final life-saving win that would guarantee safety and week after week has passed with teams around us closing in ominously.

I am astounded that you can get as big as 30/1 on us going down on Betfair as the way I see it we are in the thick of a relegation battle.

If we don't win at least one of our next 2 matches - which are now must win as opposed to would be nice to win - then we have a real chance of going down.

As for rating the players, well we totally outplayed Spurs first half and early part of second half. How did Clyne miss the target when clean through with just their keeper to beat - a hugely costly miss?

Saints again showed some fancy football and for large amounts of time in the first half looked the far better team, but in the second half that was their undoing. Too many times Saints played the "pretty" game, rather than the direct attack route. This led to Saints losing the ball going forward far too often, and allowed Spurs, who had been previously stifled to get back into the game. Even then Spurs looked toothless and lacking in penetration and ideas. But having a player like Bale he needed only one chance and took it. Hats off to the player of the year, but again Saints are left to rue their untamed chances. The difference in the PL between a good and a struggling team, can be chances taken or squandered. I hope we are the former. Ps, good away support.

Right you are harrapuk. I'm of two minds:

The calm one: Well, on paper we knew this was going to be hard ask to win or maybe draw the way Spurs and particularly Bale (where would they be without him?) are playing. When he was kicked in the box, it should have been a penalty so maybe the late goal was justice.

The one watching the game: Ok, a draw is good. Maybe we don't want to score too early and wake them up. Punch-Drunk coming on??-We could lose this now. MP changing a line up that was hanging in and getting chances--didn't NA get sacked for that?
Will someone just trip Bale up? He's outside the box-GOAL! AGGH! Sort of knew that was going to happen.

Why do I have to spend the last month of every season screaming "JUST WIN ONE GAME! JUST ONE! PLEASE!" ?

Recovered well after such a disastrous start. Some good performances from Green,Hill and Ben Haim.
Jenas seems to light weight in the midfield-surely Granero can do a job there-he seems to be making all the right noises for next year.
Impressed with the Gunners fans-think we were second best
Getting to like Onuoha-think he would make a great partner in defense with Hill or Samba-if he stays.
Usual darting runs from Townsend-do any of you think he will stay?
Still cant get used to the idea of Barnsley and Millwall coming to visit us next year

poor poor game Saints came for the point and eventually got it although to be frank it would have been no surprise if they had gone and lost this one. They were negative, offered little going forward and were sluggish in the extreme in the final third. I was screaming for Puncheon to be brought on with half an hour to go thats how important he has become for Saints. Llalana had a really poor game and were it not for the fact that there is only one more game to go Id leave him out of the team next week.
