Massive Week For Fernandinho
Thursday, 1st May 2014 09:39

Fernandinho feels that the events at Selhurst Park last Sunday have given City a psychological edge. The Brazilian is looking forward to what could possibly be the greatest week of his life. Ferna is looking at securing a Premier League winners medal as well as nailing down a place in Brazil's World Cup squad and celebrate his 29th birthday.

City have a massive fixture at Goodison on Saturday against Everton while Fernandinho celebrates his birthday on Sunday. Then on Wednesday City host Aston Villa just as Luiz Felipe Scolari reveals who will represent Brazil in the tournament held on their home soil.

This is what he had to say when speaking to mcfc.co.uk. “We are not depending on other teams — it only depends on us, and that has changed a lot.

“It gives you energy because mentality is 70 per cent of your body, and a result like that changes everything — your mind, your motivation, everything.

“When your head is good, your body is good as well.”

“It would be amazing, fantastic for me to win the title in my first season in Premier League, and that is why I want to win these three games.

“[With the Brazil World Cup squad also being announced] Next week could be the best week in my professional life, so I need to keep calm and keep working, and wait for the moment.”

Fernandinho has had a fantastic debut season for the Blues. Fully justifying his £30million fee. Some, who like to throw the mercenary tag at City's squad would be suprised to hear that the Brazilian even gave up £4million he was owed in bonuses by Ukrainian club, Shakhtar Donetsk. He agreed to this to reduce the transfer fee and ensure he got his dream move to England.

The move has been a roaring success, with Fernandinho proving a dynamic and effective partner to Yaya Toure in midfield, with the freedom he affords allowing the Ivorian to rattle in 23 goals already.

And his performances, often shown live on TV in Brazil, have been enough to earn him a call-up for Brazil. He did not let himself down when he got the chance, scoring a superb goal and producing a typical all-action display which looks to have cemented his place in the squad.
