Dale were relegated after a late Chesterfield comeback condemned us to a life back in League Two.
Whilst the relegation may have been confirmed today, it had been a case of "when" rather than "if", and despite Jean Louis Akpa Akrpo's opener, it was the same old story as Dale lost their third away game on the trot.
The result was undeserved as a spririted Dale performance took the game to the home side from the start, and a home victory never looked to be on the cards.
Aside from the result and relegation, the game was noted for a second half show of support from the travelling supporters.

If we are honest then we deserve to go down as we are the worst team in this league, we have lost to every one of the bottom teams with the exception of Walsall. Just seeing JC on Sky walking across the pitch reminded me of my grandad and I fear for us next season as JK and Tutte will find better teams and all the loan players will return to their clubs. Thanks a bunch Dunphy you really have fxxxxd up big time and perhaps it is time for you to go.........

I have read with interest geraldo's comments throughout the season, he claims ro have supported the dale for years, a most unusual form of support constant moaning, criticism and laying of blame to all and sundry associated with our club. Yes it has been a disapointing season compared to the highs of the Keith Hill era however it has been nothing like as bad as the Dolan or Barrowball tenures of the past. Now he is having a go at our chairman I think perhaps he should remember chairman in charge of stockport or darlington and be thankful that we have someone in charge who will ensure that we have a club to support in the football league. We go again next season UP THE DALE

For attention of Essexdale; If you look at my posts following SE's appontment you will see that all the reasons I quoted against his appointment came true.Dunphy has failed us by not admitting his mistake early enough and then compounded the mistake by allowing Beech 6 games during which he got 3 points. On appointing JC he should have released some of the "warchest" he boasts about - surely it was better to spend to stay up than to get up?? Don't assume next season will be a walk in the park.....

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Manchester City Polls |
