Austria have been superb: well-organised and with no 'star names' to disrupt the team spirit, they have really impressed me. They face Turkey in the next round, should be a great game.

I watched Czechia v Turkey, a spicy, feisty, firecracker of a game played in a febrile atmosphere, with something like 19 cards dished out including a second yellow sending off for the Czechs on 20 minutes and another sending off after the final whistle.

When Turkey scored on 51 minutes, an absolutely stunning faded strike across the goal that eluded the keeper it looked all over, but the Czechs kept on going and deservedly scored on 66. At times it resembled a war zone, but the Czechs looked the more likely until Turkey delivered the killer punch at the death, followed by a mass brawl. Very entertaining!

Another abject display from Belgium, who finish third in their group behind Romania and Slovakia, and will play France in the next round.

It's not just Ingerlund who are poor this tournament, but Belgium's world top ten rating seems way too high. And didn't they go out in the group stages of the last world cup?

Still, France Belgium will be a game of attrition on the basis of what I've seen so far.

The great thing about this tournament, so far at least, is that there has been plenty of fantastic football to enjoy. And to be honest, I couldn't really give a toss* about England.

It's always been some kind of cross to bear to support Ingurland; the weight of expectation, the hype and all that nonsense. Nowadays, I guess I'm more sanguine, because I just don't care who wins it, as long as there are some great matches along the way.

Anyway, after visiting my friends in Vienna earlier this year and really enjoying myself, I made Austria my 'team of the tournament' at the start, and so far they've really delivered!

*well, ok, maybe I could give a toss, given how much Southgate has irritated me, but even so, I really don't feel attached to what happens to the England team.

Fair enough. I stand corrected.

Whatever, the simple fact is that the reason Khan has used to ban taxi drivers flying the flag is that it might distract motorists. Do you really buy that? It's utter hogwash. I'm amazed people are actually defending this clearly politically motivated decision.

Pride flag wasn't banned though, was it?

Whatever your politics, it's pretty incredible that taxis can't fly the flag of their own country in the country's capital in support of their team. I think it sucks.

Me three. Fantastic game. I doubt anyone would have tipped Austria to top the group above France, Netherlands and Poland, but they've been superb.

"he should have made a change earlier but not sure there was an obvious one"

What, earlier than the 71st minute and after we'd conceded? No shit Sherlock. Grealish on at the start of the second half was what we were calling for at the time. We clearly needed to freshen up the attack and capitalise on our domination. They were there for the taking. Instead, we just sat back and sat back. One of the most frustrating games of football I've ever been at.

Narr, I'm not having that Dave. I was at Wembley that night and Italy were there for the taking. Everyone man, woman, child and pigeon present could see that we needed to go for the throat and finish them off. So what does Safegate do? Nothing. He changes nothing at all, and exactly like the games we've had so far in this Euros, he tries to defend a 1-0 lead. Inevitably, Italy eventually score on 67', and only then does Safegate make his first subs. It was absolutely pathetic.

Wow, pulsating second half - Modric missed pen, then scores a great goal, Croatia looked nailed on to win it, Italy score in the last minute of added time. Boom.

This is the kind of thing that I absolutely love about Cifuentes:

"Of course, we work a lot on pressing and on how we defend the box, but a big part is the way we attack and then what we do very quickly when we lose the ball."

Cifuentes even has a name for that. "It is a concept called zero-second reaction, that for us is very key. The moment we lose the ball, there is no regret, no complaints. We just try to regain the ball very quickly and as high up the pitch as we can," he explains."

What a joy it is to have such an intelligent and focused manager.

I'd like GS to give Palmer a chance. He's been given his zero minutes so far, yet I think he brings something none of our other strikers do, and we definitely need that edge in attack. And I couldn't give a fig that he's Chelsea!

Not wishing to labour the point, but as I said, the analysis made it quite clear that the Dutch striker was not close enough to prevent the keeper from diving, had he wanted to. The fact is, he didn't even attempt to dive, because the ball was on the way past him before he could react properly anyway. It should have been allowed!

Watch it for yourself, it's on iplayer.

After the match on the BBC the panel went through multiple different views of the incident to an almost forensic level. It was quite clear that the Dutch forward was not close enough to the keeper to either block his view or impede his movement.

The goal should have stood and the panel was in unanimous agreement on that.
