A new offshore floating wind farm coming in the seas off Wales. We get the eyesore and the pylons for transmission. Charlie boys gets his 13 % cut (reduced for 25% It was getting obscene even for him) and Westminster the rest.

The closure of Port Talbot Steel making and extracting coal form Merthyr was coordinated. I did a post called "a very strange welsh affair" where coal was being extracted from Ffos y Fran open cast. The coordination was not done exactly right leading to the mine continuing to work without planning permission.

All the bodies involved turned a blind eye to keep TATA happy and the steel works going until the announcement. Extinction Rebellion were out of the loop and the good old South Wales constabulary dealt with them.

Ineos was the establishment helping Welsh workers adapt. Reform / Ukip and their like blew that up by persuading we;sh people to support Brexit and the Welsh folk left high and dry. Follow Reform and lose your job.

Rugby needs bums on seats. Newport, Cardiff, Swansea. With a population of only 50,000 The Sgarlets cannot survive long term with our a benefactor. Newport on the other hand as 160,000 and a renter in Newport County in the EFL getting crowds of 3000+.

It is not so easy. South Yorkshire folk will take any help they can get with alternatives much closer than Swansea to Barry. Wales has to compete. Some Swansea fans are old and weak minded and just want to roll over and surrender.

This woman is a complete menace and has been in Russia practically inviting the The Russian army to invade Moldova. The minority are Turkic not ethnic Slavs but Putin is not bothered about that. No doubt she would be well looked after in Moscow once her homeland has been as vern flattened by Russian artillery.

Yanukovic the Ukrainian poodle lives very well in Russia after blocking EU accession talks on the instructions of the Kremlin.

Friday afternoon is the worst time to commute everywhere. You know the old adage.Build a new road and it fills up pretty quick. It is reasonable to assume even with the new road Friday afternoon will be a slog.

I expect there are flights to Dublin from Rhoose.

It is a particularly Welsh thing that we refuse to pay for our own services to save money. Londoners do not have that problem. It is a British rule. Anything outside London is a waste of money.

London has a cable car costing £75 m that crosses the Thames ( for the Olympics) which no one uses.

The airport website says this - "The business already facilitates more than 4,000 jobs in Wales, by ensuring safe and secure Airport operations at Cardiff and St Athan Airports."

It is 41 mile from Swansea folks. Reject second city syndrome.

Taking the Brits for fools
at 15:37 9 Apr 2025

UK were on a good little number. 45000 Romanians came in and did the farm vegetable and fruit picking work in the Summer and went home in the Winter. Christian East Europeans mostly young worked hard in hospitality and care homes and paid tax. Many added to the general pool and integrated.

Then Farage came along and these people have been replaced by Asians who do not cause any trouble in the boozer like some Poles did.

UK knew the choice and favoured immigration from our Commonwealth. No dark forces. Democratic choices.

The closure of raw steel making at Port Talbot was signalled from a decade back. Government people seeing this and the closure of Ford arranged Ineos to come to Bridgend. It was shelved after Brexit and moved to France. A Brexit knee in the groin.

These people promise a lot and deliver next to nothing. US and Asian investments should now be all over Wales but are not.

There is some talking of US money coming to UK arriving out of Trumponomics. We will see.

You personalised all your posts for some reason. Ukraine can have. Lend lease at any time if USA agrees. It is a long term loan with low interest so should be of interest to Trump. He wants paying and the lend lease allows it. It is like having a slate on the bar. UK had one on WW2. We had to paid billions back. I used analogies as I appreciate not everyone that reads these threads understand it fully.

Russia was very strong. We have realised recently the the strength of the old Russian (Soviet) was disproportionately strengthened by Ukrainians who were much braver than any of us imagined. They kick the Russians out of Kiyiv with NLAWs and the US hand helds missile. Absolutely outstanding.

I have immense respect for Ukrainian fighters that want out of old Russian ways and modernies and be less corrupt.

It is a national asset. It provides a service I use. TfL has millions of users and makes losses occasionally and gobbled up bucket loads of ratepayers and taxpayers cash. No one says shut it down.

It is not Cardiff airport. Only 45 mins from Swansea. Second city syndrome arguments are not valid.

Welsh people must pay for our own services. Obviously less the better. Swansea people should not do the bidding of Bristolians .

OK where did the £500 m come from? Is this a Trump factor above the real figure?

Wales must have a national airport. It is 45 mins from Swansea and saves Swansea people another 1 hour going to horrible Bristol.

Adminstration usually means debtors can take a walk. WRU to take over. They obviously wanted the debts gone before stepping in.

The add on were because he played well enough to earn them. Plymouth got upto £5m more than Swansea did with a different manager.

Martin did not manage the player in the club's interest. e.g playing him in order to sell him. As I explained Potter dd not throw OMcB under the bus and got a good fee for a player I suspect he did not want to manage,

Merthyr were in the EFL 1920-1930. A long long time go. They have had 95 season to get back and not gone very close. Their greatest days were in Europe via the Welsh cup.

https://nation.cymru/feature/the-welsh-statue-mania/

Being first in any thing is creditable but being Wales s first Black head mistress possibly deserves a plaque.

However the massive structure outside Cardiff Railways station is enormous. Bigger than anything for Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King.

I was not familiar with the word "woke" but visitors must be baffled when asking what she he achieved. She became a head mistress and did good stuff in general.

There is another statue in Cardiff for Sir Gareth Edwards who player "white skinned only" rugby in Apartheid South Africa.

Recruitment

Mark Allen was upgraded from the head of Academy to head of Football. He has links to Celtic and Man city.

He brought in Ogbeta who was probably a decent enough young football who has established himself elsewhere in the Championship. More useful than Pederson for sure.

Finlay Burns was way too young and never looked happy at Swansea. He also brought in Ntcham who performed well. Swansea signed him for free and got all his wages back after selling him and getting a World cup payment.

Overall his record was not too shabby. It looks like he did not get on with Martin who managed too fall out with all of his goalscorers at once except the chosen son Cullen.

Patterson Obafemi and Whittaker. Whittaker was a brat but so was McBurney. Potter played down his problems with him and got a massive transfer fee close on £20m. Martin didnot manage Whittaker well as Martin was not looking after the clubs interests so well. He was bounced out of the club for a £1m. Plymouth said thank you very much put up with his nonsense perhaps and sold him for £6m.
