Roughly what it takes Rashford 12.5 hours to "earn"
Football is truly mental when I am looking at our man on £15k a week as "reasonable". These days they literally have to sign one Contract for 3 years on a decent wage and they're done.
Getting back on track though --- it seems we are all on board that a fit Frey is a decent tool to have in the box. Sign him up
I've seen you mention Frey's large weekly wage on the out of Contract thread and here.
(Not having a pop by the way).
I'm not surprised at all he's on a big weekly wage and I think (this season) there is good reason. When he joined you'll recall he was in dispute with previous club. I remember people saying that from January to May he was virtually paying us to play which was just as well looking at his minutes. He was however very useful when we did get him on the pitch. I always thought he's get a contract with a wage set to account for the peppercorn wage he'd got for six to eight months, ergo averaging out over his time.
I'd say he's got at least 18 months in him at this level and I hope he stays as one of four strikers we'll need next season.
Cook - I’d keep him on a reduced wage with appearances and win bonuses but obviously he’d need to accept that. We certainly need experienced leadership…. Might he do coaching here as well?
Fox - thanks and so long. A decent servant but run his race
Paal - I like him; many don’t. Sadly I think his wish is to return to the land of clogs n cheese so if he’s not committed then see ya
Colback - it’s a no from me. Playing minutes don’t justify outlay
Anderson - I’d of jettisoned in January. Seems a lovely fella but he’s shot and was never suited to 40 odd games at this level. Thanks for January to April 2024 but off you go.
Frey - absolutely sign a new deal. People hung up on his lack of pace (I’m one who always says pace is vital) but I love his attitude, presence and his goal ratio!!
Dunne - stay!!! Can’t add anymore to what 26 pages have said
Edwards - part ex for a rarely used Madsen and Celar?? The lad is silky with the ball, reads the game so well and can pass it well. I’m not sure he’ll ever score from a corner but I’ll keep backing him. Way out of our price range sadly
Saito - mmmmmmm… I had big reservations but I’m really liking the little fella at the moment. A bit lightweight but he’s game as a bagel, fast and fun to watch. Keep!!
Yang - I think Spurs will let him stay next season (unless we’re in same Division). Not seen enough but the few mins he’s played so far looks a player. It’s a yes from me if a season long loan available
If anyone had said to you in early to mid November that we’d need four wins to (sort of) be safe by time first week of February ticked around would you have called a health professional for them?
Last seasons Marti miracle was amazing but I’m finding this years turnaround even more amazing. Coming into Gareth’s bereft club gave Marti the ability to shake things up. This season he was present at the start of; let’s call it a “difficult period”, and I think turning a tanker round that youve set on it’s course is a tougher ask.
All credit to him and also the players. Sliding doors moments all about Celar - his goals at Cardiv followed up by season ending injury sort of changed things for us.
Keep kicking on Rangers and let’s finish as high as we can
One thing that has amused me throughout this short saga and mega thread….. when did it become the accepted fact that Cheff Utd have bid £2mill?
I’m Jimmys biggest fan but if roles were reversed I’m not sure I’d think that level of spend was a decent investment for my club when the player is a free agent in 4 months time. Surely a low ball bid with a much bigger signing on fee for the player / agent is the tactic???
So if you give me the choice of £200k for Jimmy going now and a possible slide back down the table or keep him to end of season and more than likely mid table safety then I know what I’m choosing. £200k or anything below £500k doesn’t fly for me
