I think you need to do a bit of research Tim. He has won rather more than one race in a spectacular career.
He is now 33 and if you have ever watched a three week long pro cycling classic race you might understand the demands it makes on your body.
I agree with an earlier post and think that a combination of injury and being displaced by Chris Froome is a more likely reason for his statement.
Cycling was riddled with drugs cheats with Lance Armstrong being the worst example as he let so many of his followers down by denying involvement for so long. Myself included.
But the sport is now far more heavily policed and The Sky Team have a clearly stated clean policy.
