Jackmail was indeed an excellent read. Though the editor was actually from Port Talbot not Swansea. Pretty sure he didn't really care where Swansea supporters came from! Btw, we're talking late 80s / early 90s here. Think you'll find there wasn't much difference between both club's support at this time. |
| Forum Reply | Bournemouth have got 16m to sign a player but we're skint? at 02:13 23 Dec 2015
Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity and cash is reality. This 30th 'richest' club in the world thing is a total misnomer. It should be called the 30th highest 'turnover' in the world. And herein lies the reason we are skint. The fact is, we spend a very high percentage of our income on wages and we've spent a decent wedge on Fairwood and Landore. As others have said, we don't have a rich benefactor to 'loan' money to the club so we actually spend what we earn and no more. The expansion is never, ever going to happen without outside investment whether that be in the form of new shareholders or a large global corporate agreeing a 10 year naming rights deal for say £20m which could be used as collateral to fund the work. The opportunity cost of investing in infrastructure and not the playing squad has seemingly come back to haunt us. I'm not critical of the Board over this but it was always going to be a risky call to create the 'legacy'. The big operating loss in the latest accounts is a serious concern as it was only covered by the Bony money. It's like the old Dougie Sharpe days where we had to sell a player every summer to cover our losses! |
| Forum Reply | Aberdare - Swansea supporters bus at 20:56 11 Sep 2014
Absolutely still running and has been since the 70s. Even in the darkest days on Tuesday night games when there were less than 2000 at the Vetch, there was ALWAYS a coach from Aberdare. They can proudly say they have had a bus at every home game for over 35 years. So God bless Stuart Price, Bobby Price, Reg and Roger Jenkins and all the others who have worked hard to keep the bus going during this time. Put up with a lot of shit off the scum over the years but have always given it back in spades. ABERDARE ALWAYS THERE. FOLLOW SWANSEA EVERYWHERE! |

Have we had a penalty away from home since we came into the Prem? The only pens I can recall are the ones at home v West Brom, Stoke, Man City and Sunderland. |

Come on now Scoobs, for someone who professes to be reasonably intelligent it doesn't take a genius to work out that the novelty factor (and economic factors for all us gypsies living in caravans) means we won't be taking as many to some away games in our 3rd season in PL. You do yourself a disservice by fishing like this. Either that or your bored shitless whilst waiting for the job centre to open. |

Dear me, you lot really have got small c0ck syndrome. Funnily enough, I was just reading the programme from your cup final against us and your away support at Norwich and Chelsea was hardly anything to write about. IF, and it's a big IF, you're still in the PL in 3 years time, you can come back and get your ruler out then. |
