| News Comment | Lacklustre QPR grateful to Green for Yeovil win — report at 14:30:17
It's certainly not great to watch, but as long as the points keep rolling in then it will give HR & co the time to address the current deficiencies in our play without the additional pressures that come with a poor league position. |

Thanks Clive- I'd like to reiterate most of what's been said before in terms of your excellent reviews and comments. It's proved to be a real highlight for me in an otherwise awful season. On so many occasions I have walked away from a game unable to make any sense of what I've just watched and yet you are able somehow able to convey it with an uncanny level of accuracy and always with fantastic humour- hat's off to you mate. In terms of Rangers; aside from the lamentable effort being served up by the players on a weekly basis, I am becoming increasingly concerned with HR's mixed messages. Almost every day there is a contradictory message to be read in the paper or seen/heard on the TV and radio. We need a manager who is going to be 100% committed to the cause and HR is getting me rattled with his 'I'm excited for the future/Don't want to come in if it's going to be aggro' mood swings. |

Not sure what the worst thing about the game was; being beaten comfortably by a really poor Stoke team, their fans gleefully chanting 'we're Stoke City- we're sending you down' or the fact that, Remy & Samba aside, we ended the game with the team that will potentially lead the challenge in the Championship next year. We looked bereft of any ideas once Taraabt & Townsend had left the pitch and the final 25 minutes were arduous to watch to say the least. Not too sure that an instant return to the Premiership will be on the cards either based upon the evidence of the past few weeks. That said, I don't think there'll be too many takers wanting to relive the 'Premiership experience' that we've had over the past two seasons. |

Great report as always. Absolutely fantastic to walk out on Saturday without the awful hollow feeling that seems to have been accompanying me for most of the season. We played exceptionally well and finally looked like a team who are now committed to fighting their way out. On the evidence of Saturday's performance it would be difficult not to have some level of optimism. |

Looking at the team-sheet prior to kick-off I thought that HR had made the right choice in putting Mbia and Diakite together at the heart of midfield. What I didn't expect was the utter shambles that the pairing was to become during that first half hour. At times they were both seen to be chasing for the same ball whilst at others they were exchanging perplexed glances toward each other after failing to decide who would take responsibility for meeting the threat. It was toe-curling to watch but probably systematic of a pairing that have had limited opportunity to play that role in competitive matches this season. Now, I'm not one who is given to jeering our own players and I understand the argument that it is probably more counter-productive than anything else but I was actually taken aback by the involuntary whoops of joy that burst forth from my own lips upon seeing SWP being pulled from the pitch. I probably would have been more embarrassed by my moronic outburst if half the people around me had not already left the ground, but nevertheless I found myself looking sheepishly toward my 9 year-old son sitting there with his head in his chest and sadly thumbing his matchday programme for some sort of redemption. Let me tell you the phrase 'the're a bit rubbish aren't they dad?' has never meant more. I suppose on reflection everyone has a limit and mine came after months of watching the plethora of aimless crosses, woeful shots, lamentable tackles and the number of balls knocked down the flank which found touch with more regularity than any rugby union kicker would ever hope to see in a lifetime. I could go on but....aarrggghhhhhhh!!!! Mark Hughes has a lot to answer for. He has left a horribly broken team, a seemingly disaffected support and has tied some extremely large millstones around the neck of the football club that took years to cast off the last ones. It is interesting to note that he seems to have opted for the 'out of sight and out of mind' approach since his dismissal. Even his TV pundit mates who couldn't stop declaring him as being 'a top manager' at every given opportunity have gone very quiet. I'm sure he'll be back (Blackburn were mentioned on the radio on the way home on Sunday- God help them!) and then the whole sickening MH PR roadshow will start all over again. It will be interesting to see if the much used tagline 'you only have to look at his track record' will be removed from any future plaudits though. |

Completely agree with the view that Greens starting position was a significant factor in the award of the second goal. When the ball looped up in the air from the corner I looked down at Green and watched him step well back over his goal-line and assumed that he done so as a result of tracking the flight of the ball over the crossbar. One second later the ball was being clawed back into our own net, putting us 2-0 down and effectively putting the seal on another defeat. Why he stepped so far back we will probably never know but by stepping back those two yards Green conceded the space to the Albion player who simply took up a vacated position and stood his ground. Annoying? ..yes, frustrating? ..most certainly, but in my opinion probably not a foul on the balance of evidence. |
