Boston much improved or a real chance for Dale to register consecutive wins?
Cant help but think if we have any hope of kicking on and remaining top 7 this is one we really need to get 3 points.
If we can find a way to WIN more consistently the remainder of the season will be exciting, hopefully one to remember.
Dominate and clearly the better side - Win - 3 points
50/50 great game - could go either way - Win - 3 points
Up against it and clearly not at our best? - Win - 3 points....
Hopefully that winning mentality and winning feeling continues on Saturday and we get into the winning habit in the final half of the season. Lets really kick on starting this Saturday.
Cannot complain about the result especially scoring 3 goals and a clean sheet. The National League table looks a little better this morning.
Tamworth workmanlike (at best) but unlucky not to take the lead 1-0 when down to 10 men.
We will never know if we would have found the key to unlocking the Tamworth defence if they had 11 players on the pitch. It certainly looked hard work breaking them down for extended periods.
Loving 3 points, back in the playoffs and another home game on Saturday to go and repeat the win.
I dont enjoy the tactics, its too slow and laborious and just when you think we will really up the tempo the game slows again. I have accepted its different and i do think every player is committed to the cause and gives 100%. Whether this brings back a few hundred who sit on the fence i doubt but its not changing.
Winning helps... Lets beat Boston and go for another shot at 3 wins from 3 on Boxing day.. something we have struggled to do (Only once?) all season.
Nothing in this league.. with some ruthlessness a playoff spot should be there for the taking.
I am not in a panic yet and two cracking home perfromances this Tuesday and Saturday will get me all excited again thinking we can go 3 wins from 3 hence 9/9 come 5pm boxing day.
Just when we get a chance to kick on we fluff our lines.. most recently Eastleigh, then Wealdstone, then Dagenham...
Just one goal in the last 3 league games (270 + minutes of cut and thrust league football) is the one stand out statistic. That was a comedy own goal away at Gateshead.
I think the players have settled into a comfortable slippers mode. Part tactics, part leadership part culture they train full time and yet are starting to look nervy and toothless up front.
I am happy to see what the reaction is at home this Tuesday and Saturday and hope that we start playing to our strengths at pace but this is a recorded message that has echoed all season.
Unless the management and players have an upturn in form we could be in the bottom half of the table by 5pm on Saturday 21st December.
Tamworth & Boston both picked up of late... neither will be easy.
Come on Dale lets have some honest assessment of where we are at as a team have we the kahunas to become serial winners.
Post Covid the working landscape has changed dramatically.
Why not 5.30pm? seems a decent time to me with plenty of notice. We are in the age of flexible working and employers having to consider reasonable requests for earlier finishes or time off.
If shareholders want to attend I don't see why a start time 2 hours earlier would prevent many from attending. A nice sensible finish time too with no rushed AOB.
More freezing temps until mid morning Saturday and a deluge of cold sleety rain.
If the games on Dale will need to adapt and quickly as its not going to be the beautiful game any more it will be who rolls the sleeves up (or more likely down) and gets to grips with atrocious conditions quickest.
Have we a side that will revel in these conditions? i guess we will find out tomorrow.
With a fanfare of trumpets and a statement of intent regarding the second half of the season these half season tickets (Dale not Owdum) could sell really well.
It would make for a really nice Christmas present for the lucky recipient.
I had some respect for the Phoenix when they first laid out their objectives.
Then came the name change by the back door and 2 stars on the shirt is just laughable and a real smack in the teeth for the thousands cheated out of hard earned money.
Attempting to brush all the terrible behavior under the carpet and act like all is Rosie in the garden whilst shaking pom poms is cringe central.
The new plastic pitch actually does a pretty decent job at mirroring a plastic club with zero humility.
Big Jim loves the Dale though and thankfully I expect him to stay. There is so much potential at the club and most definitely unfinished business.
There is one thing that might also be in our favour... Burton whilst not southern is a lot further south that some might imagine. You have to be absolutely sure if your going to uproot your whole family, who I assume are pretty settled with an established routine in the North West.
Agreed the club did a great job with the Remembrance day tribute.
Dale got there in the end and on 90 minutes just about deserved the 3 points. It was a nice surprise to see TAR start the game he makes a huge difference on that RHS. Rodney back off the bench will give us some much needed strength up front in the next few games starting with Wealdstone on Saturday. Burger probably should have at least hit the target 5 minutes before we actually scored.
Not much between the two teams it could have gone either way thankfully we got the winner with the late late show.
Positives for me is the team all look really together and after 17 games we are 6th with important players returning to action.
Hard to be anything else but positive when you win in such dramatic circumstance but we do look like we are trying to score the perfect goal rather than get more crosses pinged into dangerous areas.
Up the Dale. 2-1 winners and onwards to the next game.
McNulty is a young manager who is learning all the time. No doubt he loves the club and also has best part of 3 years left on his contract. Big Jim has done a great job with recruitment and the squad are together and are currently on track for the playoffs.
Comments on here, myself included regarding defensive tactics are valid but this doesn't mean we are not behind Jim, the players and the Club. Ultimately i think Jim has to stay to further continue his education and see where he can take us. That would be my preference to have a go this season hopefully reach the playoffs and then strengthen further next summer.
Impossible to judge if Jim can get us promoted or not but so far in his tenure he gets the thumbs up and a solid 8/10 from me.
Start moving the ball more quickly that would then become 9 and a promotion back to the football league a perfect 10
We (Dale) are 0-2 down inside 3 minutes.... Both goals really poor to concede especially the 2nd that was like park football defending.
Dale then play well and get into the ascendency eventually scoring the 3rd to take the lead.
Bromley have 87 minutes to play a side that has scored 3 goals and they only need one goal to get something from the game. As it happened they scored twice.
Without that lunacy of the opening 3 minutes on the balance of play Dale have a better chance of progression in the FA Cup but you cant just forget about the first 180 seconds the damage was already done.
This side have a real chance to make the play offs this season but if we continue to gift such soft goals in the majority of games then mid table obscurity is calling.
25 seconds into the game Beckwith mistimes his clearance and we dont clear the second ball. Seconds later we are losing 0-1. I am sure the second ball fell to Burger who would love the chance again I am sure to react differently.
Then on 140 seconds a moment of madness from Hogan and we are 0-2 down and the Bromley supporters joined in with the Dale supporters head shaking in Pearl street.
Big Jim and the players have to address how we start games because this is border line comical. Gifting one goal at Barnet on 6 minutes was bad enough but that yesterday was gut wrentching.
From this point Dale looked the better side but the damage is already done. Just clear the lines until the game has settled down not try and mess around until the game pattern has established..
Credit to getting in front 3-2 up in the 90th minute.. Then Buyabu is out muscled in the corner and we enter the second crazy 2 minutes in the same game.
We have the players, cut out the nonsense and we could still have a great season.
Ignoring Tuesday Lets hope Sutton are not the next beneficiary of our charitable status.
