had my draft last night, this is the roster i ended up with
RB: doug martin, lamar miller, jonathan franklin
QB: russell wilson, rg3
WR: calvin johnson, jordy nelson, james jones, tavon austin, deandre hopkins, mike williams
TE: ed dickson, tyler eifert
K: blair walsh
DEF: ravens
in hindsight should have taken more running backs than wr's
Yeah I didn't see your last message in time, would have told you to grab running backs early and often. Not the end of the world though, Doug Martin is great, and Lamar Miller is a pretty trendy pick this year. Also got plenty of talent at WR and QB to use as trade bait!
The NFL Thread on 11:10 - Aug 5 by GONZO "Not exactly sure what a Bragging Rights competition is I'm sure I'll be up for it though. " ______________ Gonzo: Here's an advance preview of the rules for the JNF NFL Braggin' Rights Competition for 2013. It is, I admit, fairly detailed, but it's not at all complicated. There might be one or two minor changes before the competition begins.
I'm off to ny during the early mid-season break. My mate who lives there has nabbed us tickets for the jets v steelers game on 13 oct. I've seen NFL on tv. What to expect from the live experience? How long will it all last? Will I need hard rations and oxygen (we are in the back row of one of the standiums)?

Games last just over 3 hours. It seems a long time but from when i've been to Wembley it's felt like it's gone pretty quick. The atmosphere should be great, the Jets fans are pretty good despite their team being a car crash the past couple of seasons. The Steelers fans are great too. They'll bring a lot of fans I'd imagine and waving their terrible towels. Metlife stadium opened 3 years ago.
thanks for that. no roof eh? hope it doesn't rain. according to my mate we are somewhere above the snow line probably close to those folks at the back. hopefully a man will bring copious supplies of beer and franks.

As posted above, it should be a good experience. I repeat also that both sets of fans are passionate and very knowledgeable, and both teams should be very competitive.
I would not expect rain in October, but do bring warm clothes because you'll almost certainly need'em.
With regard to food and drink, both will be very accessible. I can't honestly say whether they will be more expensive than at the LIberty or another footie stadium in the U.K. I'm also not sure whether you should bring a flask. Might not be allowed.
Am a bit spectacularly clueless at this, don't know too much, think Bernard is being talked up quite a bit, and get the feeling Ingram's stock is falling this season. Anyone got any tips?

Personally I'd go nowhere near that deal, Gio Bernard is obviously a bit of a risk being a rookie, but his upside is much much better than Ingram's. If the guy who wants Gio is desperate for a running back and has a decent back up Wide Receiver that he doesn't mind throwing into the package then I might be a bit more tempted. I like Givens on your bench but not totally sold on Blackmon, (off the field issues and Blaine Gabbert!) or DH-B (decent deep threat but think that Luck will prefer Wayne, Hilton, Allen and Fleener.)
But then again that might still leave you short on good quality running backs as Bradshaw struggles to stay fit. Sticking with Bernard is probably your best bet..

We'll expect a match report when you get back.
A flask almost certainly isn't allowed, but that doesn't mean you can't sneak one in anyway. Or you can do what I do and stock up on mini-bottles. Either way, sneaking booze in isn't difficult.

off to metlife myself later this month to watch jets - eagles ironically i hold a dislike towards both teams, i'll come back with the details. we're bottom tier like 25 rows back.
all the same it'll be the first nfl game i've seen live so pretty excited, the regular season games will be that much better than pre season so good going getting those tickets!
If you like Hard Knocks there's a thing called training days which Espn do. Good insight into college teams. The Penn State one was on last night, and I know we have a Penn state fan on here.

Get there early. Have a few beers at a tailgate party. Much more of a big event feel around the ground than your standard league game over here. I went for a regular season game and it was more like a day out at Wembley, being able to get sloshed during the game helps
College football back last night as well, anyone a fan of this? Vanderbilt Ole Miss was a great game. Good to get into for non sky sports subscribers. South v North Carolina to kick it off, Clowney looked steaming last night. Shocking performance. They said he had a virus but I think he hasn't put the effort in during pre season. Believing the hype around him

Watch the UNC vs South Carolina game. Clowney was gassed 1st quarter haha. Watched the Ole miss highlights earlier. Looking forward to tomorrow's games.

What did you think of Clowney? Man amongst boys at collegiate level.

He's a freak. Thursday's game wasn't a good insight into him but he'll be an absolute monster again. Some are saying he's the best defensive prospect in years. I'm hoping the Raiders don't draft 1st or 2nd because he's capable of putting up similar numbers to Von Miller and Aldon Smith.
