Either Coleman goes or I go on 18:40 - Dec 8 by ColDale | I'd say most people are realistic over this. I'm a million miles from Coleman out and still stand by everything I put last Sunday, but the indiscipline is not a result of budgetary issues. Things like that are within our control yet we are failing to address them, and it is costing us. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Nor are we looking flexible with selection and tactics. It's almost impossible to work out why we stick so rigidly to certain ways of playing, especially when we know there are alternatives.

Either Coleman goes or I go on 18:32 - Dec 8 by AtThePeake | Like I said in another thread John Coleman is not the miracle worker that Keith Hill is. We are not a League One club. We're a midtable League Two club at best. As HIlly said a billion times whilst he was manager of our club, we were overachieving. Massively. Now we're not, it wasn't going to last forever was it? |
Hit. Nail. On. Head. The only possible counter argument is I feel we've got some players who are better than mid table League Two, so I do think we should be performing better than we are at present. I'm not calling from Coleman's head yet, but like many others I'm getting very very tired of the unentertaining dross on display, considering the players we have at our disposal. I actually thought we changed it today. I'm no expert when it comes to tactics, but it looked like we were playing something close to a genuine 4-5-1 rather than the 4-3-3 that has been the standard this season. Grant and Donnelly looked to be playing with a lot more width than they have done previously. Could be wrong though.

When they're acting like morons I'll call them morons. We're top half and that's a pretty good start in my eyes, our home form hasn't been brilliant but constantly booing and shouting abuse won't solve anything at all. Have any of you thought of trying to get behind the lads and spur them on a little bit? Of course not. It's much easier to boo & act like miserable c*nts.

I think you're right...Gornell does an infinitely better job than Adebola, so Coleman feels we can nullify the opposition threat a bit more by having Donnelly & Grant offer for protection. It's genius really. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Were you cheering Gornell when he got sent off? The 3 bookings in 5 minutes? And its ok for 'you to call people a moron if they act like a moron', but fans cant call half a season of home dross shiiiiiite, if they think its shiiiiiiite? Very strange!

We did look that way... until Coleman was heard shouting at Grant to stop playing so wide. It's the three central midfielders when two were enough v Bristol R that irritates.

There were only a couple of people who applauded Gornell thankfully. An improvement on the reaction Grant got for his red v Bradford.

Either Coleman goes or I go on 19:06 - Dec 8 with 1486 views | fitzochris | As I've said before, I'm a realist. However, going 3-0 down before half time two weeks in a row is unacceptable at any level. Footballers are paid for a 90 minute shift, not 45, so all this 'second half recovery' bollox doesn't wash with me either - especially as it doesn't even yield a point. JC should be able to address this with the players he has at his disposal, but he appears to be failing. Going off what the players are tweeting, he sounds like he's losing some of them too. And to the guy who called my mate a disgrace for voicing his disapproval at Lillis' blunder. As you we're told, he is entitled to voice his opinion, as these mistakes are becoming more frequent and more costly. As the old adage goes, 'you pays you money...' I don't think anyone will disagree that we are in a bit of a mess that needs sorting. I don't think that involves the removal of the management, but it does involve the management knocking more than a few heads together. Our shape, discipline and concentration are way, way off... I don't believe JC sets the team up to play this way, but the players are clearly not listening. I won't even bother dissecting the match itself, it will take too long... To sum it up... Bag o shite.

Either Coleman goes or I go on 18:22 - Dec 8 by Daley_Lama | We're not a bad team, we're a team playing badly, set up badly etc. Any comparisons to previous dross is way off the mark. |
Nail on the head. I think we do have some decent players at the club and i tend to think the recent performances say more about the management than the players themselves. They are coached all week in a certain way and they play to the system that Coleman sets them up in, from what i am witnessing he is being outsmarted at Spotland game after game and he doesnt have the nouse to change the course of a game. I think his tactics involve small percentages, one of them being constantly getting at the officials and also niggling the opposition players. He probably thinks we might get awarded a penalty or the opposition will snap and end up playing with 10 men. If we concentrated on playing the game in the right way we could end up getting better results. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

In fairness - other than bringing in Bobby Grant - what has Coleman really done. Came when we were struggling last year - achieved nothing - finished bottom Adams and J.T. gone - for whatever reasons - now no width. Gary Jones gone - clearly for issues off the pitch with Coleman and Bell loads of ex Accy players in - none of which have really added a great deal - picked ahead of players who could be considered better. Team underperforming - considering we should have been challenging for top 3 Fans leaving in their droves - likely sub 1500 attendances soon as drab football Clubs off field reputation as bad as I can remember - open hostility and lack of interest in the club and negetivity everywhere. We were very lucky in Hillcroft era, and those were great times, but currently this is like being back with Barrow. I would prefer Parkin Back, Hollins was mental but played decent football, even bloody Sutton was at least entertaining!!! Only my opinion but for a guy with such a great reputation - Coleman has done little or nothing...... So far!!!!!

His remit was to rebuild a team. Someone else may have done better over the summer, or they might not - but when we went to JC there was no one else willing or capable. Can't blame him for bringing in players he trusts, although it worries me that he hasn't really demonstrated he knows much more beyond this. January will be interesting in that regard. To be fair, we have picked up some good results with resolute displays, but what worries we is that we no longer look resolute, especially at home. Needing to score four second half goals to win again is extremely worrying, too. I'm still in the wait and see camp.

I found thr midfield three very puzzling today. I don't have any coaching badges but I thought we seemed to play without someone protecting the centre backs. I actually rate Cavanagh in that position but he didn't seem to do it today. In a formation where the fullbacks give the width then I think you need somoene in front of the centre backs to plug holes. As I said, no coaching badges and I don't know what I'm talking about but it does seem very easy to get at us through the middle of the pitch.

Good post apart from the bit, "We should have been challenging for a top 3 spot". Its the manner in which we play the game that disappoints me most and you know how we are going to play as soon as you step foot into Spotland. Its a battle with no imagination or flair on display, its a 95 minute endurance test thats the best way i can describe it.

Well I feel challenging should be the aim T.S. - not saying we would be in top 3 but play offs at least should be the minimum aim, for a manager who, lets face it, currently has a far bigger budget and supposedly better playing squad, than he did at Accy (I know most of them are here now before thats pointed out!) The players we have, with a decent manager are more than capable of top 3 - had we kept N.A. J.T. and Jonah even more so. If you look at who we have brought in - other than the 3 strikers which are in fairness doing a decent job in relation to goals, I can think of anyone who offers more than the above 3 players at this level. I am not necessarily saying they could have been made to stay, but even that, in at least 2 of the above cases is down to J.C. With Hillcroft and this squad - would we expect promotion - yes.
