Rangers v the Oat Cake Eaters match thread on 18:19 - Nov 23 by StreathamRanger | I totally understand the sense of despair from many but we can't just give up with so much of the season to play. Looks to me like the players still care even if they're not very good. Celar could do with a spell away from the starting 11 but there's so few options. Lloyd puts himself about a bit but he's just another Sinclair Armstrong. Fine for the last 10-15 minutes but never a starter. Similar with Paul Smyth. It's a struggle to watch him play so many minutes when he is such a limited player but there really are no other options. |
Agreed. Smyth and Lloyd are subs to come on after 60 mins. They aren’t really good enough for long stints

I'm sure the players are giving it their all...bar a couple who I won't mention. But it really is wishful thinking to think this squad of players is remotely capable of turning this around. It's a harsh reality and not for everyone - that is fair enough. I prefer no hope than hope continually crushed. Club needs resetting.

I don't think the squad as it stands is good enough. Get to January though within six points or so from safety and it's not impossible IF we get a couple of signings in who can make a difference.

You look at the team, the subs bench, and think, "what's he supposed to do?". Lloyds last start, he was awful

I’m with you on that. It felt very bleak today. Despite the slightly more encouraging stats and effort we still weren’t good enough.
Rangers v the Oat Cake Eaters match thread on 19:47 - Nov 23 with 2059 views | baz_qpr | If we were sitting mid table, we would have walked away from that and said good game both teams denied by good saves and could have gone either way. I think we played alright but we can't finish. However the Penalty. Now Celar took the ball off Madsen. That is putting the individual ahead of the team and Steve Cook has to take responsibility, he is the captain on the pitch and it should have intervened. Madsen was having a very good game too at 10 (even made a tackle and a foul). Celar needs to be taken out of the team. He's had his opportunity, let Lloyd have the games until Frey is fit. I thought Ashby played well at left back and better than Paal who was well off it when he came on. Dunne is playing at right back like the Dunne at Centre Back. Last season a number of big mistakes. I thought Morrison did really well too. Smyth drives me to insanity 50% fantastic 50% terrible his decision making is terrible. I think its also apparent we still have major fitness issues, with too many player who cannot sustain 90 minutes. Saito had another good game but could barely stand after 75 minutes. Smyth and Madsen can't last a full game either. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Agreed on Ashby. I thought he was good today and loved it when he went flying into a tackle towards the end. Showed some passion. I'm not a big Paal fan but I guess he has to play if fit as he's the only left footed full back. Maybe try Ashby on right and Paal on left. I think Morrison looks decent and long term of everyone's fit I'd like to see him and Clarke Salter as our CBs. Love Cook but he's definitely on the wane. [Post edited 23 Nov 19:56]

Not so much at the back as going forward, where we looked like a slightly effeminate boy band, robbed of autotune, being asked to open for Motorhead. That is a different scenario granted. But do we have any chance of getting these players in...that's my concern. Plus, we will in all likelihood be so far adrift by then...it may not matter. I tell you what would slightly change things for me...three points against Cardiff 😎

Well Hayden back in would be a decent start. Anderson perked things up last season so they have some form of picking the odd decent player. I still maintain it's far from impossible and as you say a win at Cardiff and it doesn't look quite so bleak. A loss on the other hand...

Dunne at fault for their goal. Nardi had no chance of saving that strike.

Yeah, that was a weird one, becuase why not blow as soon as he's "alledgly" seen the handball offence? I'd guess that if he hadn't have scored then he wouldn't have given the handball. Just weird all round. Side note: Thanks for your imcompetence Ward!

Dunne just made the same mistake a few minutes earlier then fell after that clash allowing Cannon to unload that Cannon into the top corner .No blame for Nardi on that one just a superb strike once he got the space and was allowed the freedom of West London. Nardi made a couple of excellent saves to save the point but if we are not scoring then its just a matter of time until we become detached from the pack.

They were. Actually had to stop two wind up merchants goading one of our fans with his small daughter - brave of them, huh? They look so shocked to be challenged by an older woman they sodded off! Soon after the police had to come in with the horses to keep them under control. You'd think they'd love their day out in London playing us instead of trying to cause aggro. As for the game I thought we were a bit better. At least we looked like we'd played together before. Liking the look of Varane and Saito. Celar and Dunne really poor atm. Enjoyed Morrison at CB. Gavin Ward hates Stoke even more than us seemingly...

Nice one Nix. As for the performance I also thought that there was a bit more coherence about it and there was a bit more threat than in the last couple of games. Although that's a very low bar, obvs. I also thought Madsen was a bit better pushed further up. Another low bar but other around me saw the same. I went expecting to be completely exasperated but ended up staying back to applaud the players - Saito especially - and Marti.
