Expect rises at the pumps of 6 - 10p a litre in the coming days.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Bit on the radio earlier , the need for petrol is becoming less depend theses days .

Many vehicles Hybrid , EV or nobody bothering to drive anymore , like me thankfully .
Appreciate a lot of local business look at the forecout price and move on to the best deal .

Saudi are still our main supplier for fuel , they still want to make mega bucks on their resorures and live in luxury , they do not want to lose that income any time soon .
Loss of petrol driven cars will affect their finances .

Possibility the 5p duty on petrol prices will be put back on in the next Budget though .

Old enough to remember 1p per gallon increase causing chaos at the petrol pumps .

I remember the switch from gallons to litres, I remember people saying we'd never pay £1 per litre.
In 1986 it was around £1.75 per gallon so about 46p per litre, about a third of todays prices that are lower than they have been for a fair while.

Yes, the return of the 5p duty that was cut and possibly more. Then watch inflation rise a bit again. Then watch other prices rise.

Reeves and Starmer have said it could be an uncomfortable budget for many, by that of course they meant that the vast majority of us will be worse off, the rich will hardly notice a thing and the poorest in our society will struggle even more.

Surely not the same Starmer and Reeves who ranted about the cost of living four the past three years?

Well it was the tories see, they left the economy in the worse state since the war. That gives Starmer no choice but to make things worse before he can make things better but if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath because my feeling is it'll be worse for quite a while.

Don't you think turning around 14 years of neglect and incompetence in just a few months is a big ask for any political party?

Seems it was too big a job for Putin. Russia the world's largest country with virtually unlimited natural resources is 37th in the world based on GDP per capita.

Meanwhile incompetently run UK has the sixth highest GDP despite being only the 27th largest country by population and 80th by land area.

I note that the Government are refusing to release "key details" of this alleged £22bn black hole in the finances too.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

£20 Billion represents 1.5 percent of government spending. It's rather like someone who earns £2,000 a month saying they are going to have to completely adjust their budget for £30.

It's just a premted excuse to hammer everyone in the budget, in preparation for giving some back before the next election. Call me cynical if you like.

It's not a coincidence that the biggest Govt giveaways announced within days of the election came to an amount not entirely dissimilar to £22bn. They knew they were going to spend the money, it was entirely their choice to do so and they used the previous administration as an excuse.

All Governments blame their predecessors to some degree, but I don't recall one that lied so obviously about it.

Of course it will grow this year. That is the result of war production not that many Russian's will benefit from it.

American was far richer in 1945 than it was in 1939 after 6 years of producing arms for the World.

Still Russia GDP will be far below what a country that has its resources should be.

Interestingly, a specialist on the Russian economy interviewed on Times Radio yesterday suggested that the GDP growth figure needed to be treated cautiously because growth is based largely on the production of war-related products by state industries. The GDP calculation includes an inflation component (based on the value of the goods) that can be decided by fiat between the central state and the state enterprise. The expert suggested that inflation was over-estimated by about 2%, so that real GDP growth was closer to 1.9% than 3.9%.
